First Ludum Dare!

I've wanted to do Ludum Dare for a year now, but I have never had the time. This weekend will be my first Ludum Dare, which also runs through my Birthday, which will be pretty cool. Can't wait to get started!

I went in Photoshop and drew this up in 10 seconds.

Day 1: Engine + Graphics

This afternoon I decided to make a game where you try to clean junk out of outer space, to make way for future space travelers. I decided to make it like a classic Asteroids type game but with a twist. Like normal you can shoot asteroids, but you will also be able to suck them into a ship with a vacuum, or plow them into a different cargo ship.

What I've got so far is the engine for physics (still kinda buggy), I've got a ship and space junk to clean out, and a starry background. While I was at it I put in some Xbox Controller support as well, which is also kinda buggy.

Here's a screenshot from what I've got so far: Screen Shot 2018-08-10 at 8.39.46 PM.png

I'm in, suprisingly!

This is a last minute entry, I wasn't going to originally enter because of too much on my plate. Some things cleared up that I just found out about a few hours ago, and so I made a last minute decision to give it a go! I wish I could've prepared a little bit more, but that wasn't in the cards for me. This is going to be my second Ludum Dare, and I can't wait to get started!

Good luck to you all!

Day 1 - Start of Idea + Beginning of Engine

I got some stuff done today. I decided to build a game about a hoarder who needs to clean his house by making "sacrifices" by getting rid of things that are sentimental to him. I'm thinking of adding some challenges, like limited time, resources, energy, and more. He also has tools that he can use to help him clean up easier.

Today I got a basic scrolling and collision engine in place as well as most of the classes for the structures in place as well.

Tomorrow I hope to get working on some graphics as well as game mechanics for clearing out junk.

Finished.

Well I'm done. It's not all finished because I still had some complications in my schedule, but I'm surprised I was even able to finish an entry for the Compo, let alone an entry. I'm proud of what I was able to accomplish in the little time I did have, and I'm glad I was able to compete. Good job to you all who just finished the Compo, and good luck to you all who are still competing in the Jam. I can't wait to play all your games.

See you all in April 2019.

Only 2 more ratings to go!

Hey there! I know you're tired of all the last-minute posts asking for ratings, but I have just one small request. If you have some time today, could you play my entry and rate it? I only need 2 more ratings to get a final score, and it takes less than 5 minutes to install and play the game.

If you'd like to help me out, check out my game at: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/43/dont-take-my-stuff

I am in.

Forgot to post. I am here. I am participating. I am using my quarantine time wisely.

Using some cool tools: + Python + pygame + maybe pytmx? + beepbox + maybe my guitar?

and most importantly... + my brain

Have fun guys. Can't wait to play all your games!
