LD30

Let’s roll!

I am ready for the Ludum Dare. As I am unsure of whether I am “required” to do one of these posts, here it is.

I will be using:

  • Unity3D (C#)
  • GIMP
  • Autotracker.py (will be modified a lot once the Dare is over, but I have not touched it yet)

And I might use any of the tools on the http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/tools/ page though. We shall see once that time comes. No custom basecode though.

LD32

I’m in maybe sorta.

If there is a good theme, I’ll join. Probably not. I’m kinda busy. Anyways maybe, yeah.

Post Jam Update - Servant of Lord Doof

The Rating Marathon is almost over!

Life has been busy, but we managed to finish a post-jam version of our game!

The Jam version fell way short of what we envisioned, but it was… educational. Now that we were able to complete the vision of what we would have loved to push out, we’re quite happy!

What we made initially was buggy and empty, but even in this initial state, we think you can see what we were going for, and in particular, our drive to find a clever take on the theme!

What changed? - Squashed most of the bugs 🐛 - Ported to GDScript so we can web export - Fail state and win state (NOW IT'S A GAME!) - Pause menu and endgame menu - Finished adding the quests we wrote but never added - Added the rest of the items we drew during the jam - Cool effects and animations (you get speared now! ☠️) - Tweaked balancing and timing - More UX feedback (while keeping it simple like a jam game should)

If you haven’t played it yet, go check out the Jam version and see what we mean, then gib ratings pls! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/55/servant-of-lord-doof

Now that you’ve done that, check out our post jam version and see how we progressed: https://rainybyte.itch.io/servant-of-lord-doof-post-jam

I hope you hear the bells in your dreams 🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔

Ludum Dare 56

Off to a great start

The last Human Shelter is under siege by self-replicating alien robots! It’s up to you to use the new Reprogrammator to salvage their bodies and save humanity! Build a mech to defend against waves of alien robot hordes, reprogram their minions to serve you as pieces of your mech, and strengthen your defenses in hope of fighting back the horde in hopes of a new dawn for humanity.

We had a rocky first few hours trying to figure out what game to make for the theme, but after sleeping on it, we have come up with a novel concept, that we should be able to iterate on immediately, and has that desired "inverted pyramid" design shape. With luck, maybe we've been spared from our usual overscoping problem! It has so many cool production hacks that should give a lot of gameplay for relatively little work

I would have had a cool picture to show you, but our artist realized that a bug in my Razer Audio Mixer creates such amazingly distorted sounds that she wanted to capture a bunch of audio material first.

We'll make sure to post again when we have something to show. Good luck all! :)
