Day one progress

Realising at six in the evening that it was this weekend I got a kinda late start. I plan for the compo, but will probably end up in the jam with that little blunder. After some stressed deliberation I decided to make a game about pleasing a god with sacrifices just so you don't get zapped. Your job will be to make sure you don't run out of sacrifices. The sacrifices are sea creatures, I don't know why, but I'm too lazy to change it at this point. But maybe I won't be in the morning, who knows! Most of the time has been spent getting basic stuff down as I'm a tiny bit rusty after months of doing nothing related. Despite the rust I managed to get down most of the base and some entity movement and interaction, even if it isn't the greatest. 1-2506png.png Right now it's all programmer graphics until I get some mechanics down(other than bad fish movement). But Hopefully I'll be able to fix it up soon! I wish all you all overnighters good luck but I myself will need sleep before resuming tomorrow.

Day two progress

With day two down I have most of the core systems made, just need them to be put together. It's no longer wet, so you can now have sheep! I probably could've been done by now if only I didn't have all these bothersome friends to do other stuff with, but it is what it is. 2-2643.png I've implemented some simple structures(farms) along with humans to harvest them, when no farm needs harvesting they will go gather wood in the forrest. There is a primitive hotbar along with the ability to sacrifice people or sheep. Now that day two is done I'm feeling pumped to finish this thing in time for the jam!

Time to get ready!

Hope you all are ready for another ludum dare! I know I will, as soon as I get my eighth hours of beauty sleep of course. IMGem20190427/em012352_917.jpg

What a theme!

My best idea so far is a love story about a coin and a banker :/ D5JlJkCXsAA5y-e.jpg

Day one comes to an end

During the first day I somehow spent most of it on collision detection. What went well? - Collision detection is almost working flawlessly. - I have some idea of what to do. What didn't go well? - I somehow barely did anything but collision detection. - if I keep up this pace I'll be lucky to finish in time for the jam. - my code is a mess. - I don't really know what I'm doing. Overall not the worst first day, looking forward to tomorrow. Also I decided drawing a penguin was a higher priority than sleeping in a timely manner. IMGem20190428/em041126.png

Ld44 Overview

Now That I finished Ld44, I thought I'd take the time to write a small overview of how it went.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.png

So what went well? * I really enjoyed making the art. * I managed to finish on time. * I kept the scope small enough to be manageable. * I managed to get most of the features I wanted.

But what went wrong? * I spent way too long on collision detection, as always. * I only got to making the map itself the last hour of the compo. * I got dragged into playing games half the first day.

map4.png

What did I learn? * I really need to get my shit together when it comes to collision detection. * When making a platformer, make sure the environment makes sense for the gameplay. As it turns out it's hard to make good platforms on a street. * I'm bad at time management.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa2.png

Overall I had a good time and can't wait for the next one. I'm really glad with how my game turned out and the level of feature completeness I reached. But I would've still liked to spend more time on the map, and the physics didn't really ever get perfected. I would also add a start menu, options, and such. I didn't have time to add music as I would've liked, but that could be a good thing seeing as I don't have a clue as to composing music.

Play the game, it's not very long: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/lost-coin

Ludum Dare 45

One days progress

It's been 25 hours, I have hacked together most things I will need for the game, now I just need graphics, level design, sound, and all that. Unless I want my final product to look like this of course. scare.png In retrospect maybe I should've learnt how to use unity before trying to use it for a game jam :/

Ludum dare 45 succesful.

Finished on time. got the game fully done(except audio). First time using unity I must say it felt really clunky, hopefully that's gonna change as I get more experience. I do see how it might be a great tool once I get used to it. 1.png I hope you all were also successful, can't wait until the next one!

Ludum Dare 46

Lets go!

Time for another Ludum dare, this time even less prepared than usual. Lets all do our best and see what great things we can accomplish!

Ludum Dare 47

Forming a loop

After some hours of fiddling I'm starting to get down some stuff in engine and getting an understanding of godot.

Stuff added so far: * a player * some rope * a background

Stuff left to add * gameplay * graphics * music * basically everything

Another one!

Let's gooo

Progress 1

got some basic ui and almost gameplay up and running! Just need to add real graphics, the real gameplay, the long term gameplay loop, sounds, the rest of the ui... So yea almost done!

clip-2026-04-18-16-04-12.png

Progress 2

A ui rework getting rid of programmer art and adding most of the intractable elements. a Just a few more things to add before the gameplay loop works at all :| shot_202611.png

Progress 3; Almost done!

most of the systems are in place, most of the graphics and animations are in place. just a bit more gruntwork.

And then, then i can start trying to make it not miserable and or fun to play.

Progress 4: Finished!

Finished in unusually good time!

Kinda boring tho, no panic or mid compo pivots or anything!
