LD31

I am in – I think – therefore I am. :)

I think I am going to attempt this – :)

Been tinkering with a game in Unity for awhile now and have learned a lot, soo let’s see how this plays out.

Nanowrimo got me to complete two first draft novels, so I hope this helps me to get a game FINISHED. :)

Thanks,

UncleChris

I am actually doing it

Engine: Unity

Graphics: Inkscape/Photoshop

Audio: Not sure yet. :)

I think I have an idea, starting to prototype and then to bed.  Graphics on a fresh mind, since Photoshop/Inkscape and I battle often and I rarely get to win.

LOL

I am in! :)

Second time in, and now feel I understand my tools MUCH better this time around.  I am still working on my game from Ludum Dare 31, but learned a lot since last year. 😀

Engines/Frameworks: Unity 5.0

Graphics: Inkscape, Photoshop

AudioFX: BFXR

Working on it

I am psyched.  I have all the pieces, and a little graphics update.   Today need to stitch them together.  under 9 hours… eek. :)

LD #34 – So in!

I will be entering the compo – and hope to have an awesome time. I have been learning as much as I can since last time, fine tuning my comp entry.  My game last time finished and it was a fun ride and I learned sooo much.

I have cleared the weekend of social obligations, and the kids in the house will be away all weekend! I tested my development computer – we are go for launch!

I will use Inkscape/Photoshop/Illustrator for art (been practicing the last few months with this and some amazing tuts online).

Unity 5 as my engine

Just not sure on sound (barely got any in last game) Bxfr & Audacity probably.

Oh, and most important – Red Bull, Red Bull and some Toro Rojo just in case – for energy! 😀

Bring on the theme!

Prototype – Dawn of the Dust Bunny

gameplay

You are a dust bunny and are attempting to grow big enough to escape.  This will incorporate both two button & growing.  You are able to become DUST DEVIL and rise up, or PAUSE in place.  Mabel is always moving and she will have a duster of some sort.  As you roll over dust, you will pick them up and grow, eventually being big enough to escape the room. :)

I need to get some sleep, but feel really good about getting stuff accomplished over the weekend to clear it up a bit.

Day of the DustBunny

Mabel has had a make over, and I have been getting things tuned.

A few more housekeeping things (loose and win screen updates), then I can have auto level design and Mabel will clean up! 😀  Feeling really good about this Ludum Dare (and only four hours of sleep to boot!) 😀

LD #35 – Uncle in the Attic is In

After fixing a scheduling issue, I will be entering the compo – and hope to have an awesome time as I have the last two events I entered.  I have been learning as much as I can since last time, playing and going through tutorials online just to learn HOW to make things happen as I want them to.

Pre launch testing has been complete, except for Version Control – still working on getting that set up but will be done by Friday evening – ESPECIALLY after losing my entire scene during the last LD near the end and having to recreate from memory. :(

I will use Inkscape/Photoshop/Illustrator for art.

Unity 5.4 as my engine

Sound has to be a key component this game – last two games suffered for not having – Bxfr & Audacity probably.  I had even recorded some sounds for last game, but sadly didn’t get them in and would have probably pushed me up through the 100 on humor (108 last LD).

Oh, and can’t forget the thing that is most important – Red Bull, Red Bull and some Toro Rojo just in case – for energy! 😀

Bring on the theme!

I am in…

I am using will be using Unity, and Inkscape/Photoshop, bxfr, Audacity, probably Otomata (earslap.com) maybe Blender (not sure if 2d or 3d is my route)

I really am excited about this one, since I have been doing prework – making sure everything is ready to go so at 9pm, I can hit the ground running. :)  I never have done well with sound, but been practicing with music generation and sound in test games. I thinks I am ready to make sure I add some this time!  Got the website ready to take in the new code when I have a prototype, so I am really doing well on my prep.

Still not sure how much sleep I will schedule, I want to see how long I can work, but as I get older, I know I am NOT my best on just a few hours of sleep. LOL

and really hoping the theme don't suck. LOL

Come to my small world...

IntroPage.pngSummers were... being trapped in a very small world with dad at the wheel. Things just zipping by as we went city to city in a grand tour. But always, the backseat was my small world.

Come play my game, which simulates being in a car and trapped while dad races to get to the next city.

Please play my Compo Game - WebGL version

If you would be so kind as to rate my game. It wasn't as featureful as I expected, but it has win condition this jam, and sound and music.

IntroPage.png

It was based on my family vacations as a kid in the late 70's-early 80's where the station wagon was pretty much your whole little world.

my game - Don't Make Me Stop this Car!

Thanks, Uncle Chris

I am in!

I am in, rearranged my weekend and should get everything done this time! :) I have a far less ambitious plan than - "Do everything perfect!" I have done a few of these, and have mostly finished games. But, I really can't wait to try this with all the practicing I have been doing. I am psyched!

Depending on 2D or 3D (haven't done a 3D game yet so it intrigues me)

Unity/Blender/Inkscape/Photoshop

I'm In!

I will be participating in LD40 - wow, seems like not so long ago I did my first one. :)

I will be using: - Unity C# - standard Unity Cinemachine for Camera - Photoshop/Illustrator/Inkscape - Bosca Ceoil/Other Sound Editor - Blender - if doing 3D

I really can't wait for Friday!

LD 40

DONE and in TIME

I finished the game.

I even got sound effects, music and even a tutorial level.

I am pretty proud of this game. Everything just flowed well for it, even with the few times I had to undo about quite a few lines of coding to remove stuff that broke everything when i put it in. :(

I need to get the Option Menu fixed, but for some reason it is turning off all sound, so I disabled that button.

I can't wait to start playing the other games out there.

Ludum Dare - it just keeps getting better.

Uncle Chris

Worth Your Weight In Gold

Shameful plug for game - please play it and rate - I will do that same for yours!

Can you make it through all six levels to the final location and the last piece of hidden gold?

And as Arum says - Gold Good!

Worth Your Weight In Gold - Post Mortem

Things that went well

  • Level Editor

I liked my editor for levels. I adapted a image level editor, and it allowed me to do some good things. It really did help to add “tutorial” at the end, with a few prefabs and a new color for them in Photoshop.

  • Plan - including Sleep

Friday I had a rough Idea, by 2am Friday night, I would have prototype and would enhance it as I went. 8 Hrs sleep Saturday In the cold light of morning, see what I did the night before and throw out if I wasn’t in love with it. Polish as best I can and start level designing Sleep Sunday Polish - Polish - Polish Deploy

I got 8 hours both nights, and THAT was a key takeaway from a previous LD. I found I spent more time in the morning trying to figure out what the heck I did and tended to break items from day before if I didn’t have sleep.

What didn’t work well

  • New Unity elements:

The polishing was difficult at times, I tried to add Cinemachine and Tilemaps from Unity into my mix - and had done research, but they both didn’t worked as expected. I did get Cinemachine to work - mostly, but Tilemaps were removed and I built my own “tile” editor tool. It worked much easier for me to edit with.

  • Character Controller

Character controller was a pain, and still is. I still have floatiness, but have learned a lot post jam on what causes that and what to do to change it to make it work.

Changing from single sprite to multi sprite in polishing and then character controller not flipping it correctly. THAT was a waste of about three hours - I couldn’t get it to look the correct direction, and so then tried to do a sprite sheet and that became a MESS. It was a learning item, but TOTALLY not a good thing to do during the jam.

Overall

So, I liked this game - and see it has some potential - I had a few features I thought of after the game jam was over to add. Maybe it will see a resurgence at a later date, with power ups and downs. LOL

Please play and let me know what you think:

Try it out and let me know... I need more ratings please.

I am in

LD41 - I am so in. The attic is stocked, I have a birthday party tonight with friends, but leaving just after the announcement of theme. So some relaxing time before the big push!

I will be using

*Game Engine: Unity

*Art: Aseprite, Blender, Photoshop, Inkscape depending on the art direction

*Music: Bosca Ceoil, Audacity

This will be like my 7th Ludum Dare (maybe more, lost count with change over to new website! :D) I really find that i do my best work with the limited time. I will be getting sleep - THAT I have learned, I do much less damage to myself and my game by sleeping!

I wish everyone who enters a great time, and hopefully the ONE theme I didn't like won't be it - I am looking at you "You are the weapon!"

LD 43

I am in - as much as I can be!

Even with needing to pack up and drive to Chicago on Saturday during the day, I am in and I am going to attempt to TwitchStream from the hotel my dev work when I get there. Maybe I can get it working. :)

Join my madness at https://www.twitch.tv/uncleintheattic

I think if I can get a prototype up tonight, and can think about cleaning it up tomorrow after the drive to Chicago for work. I missed the last LD due to schedule, this time, the schedule needs to bend a little!

Using Unity, Photoshop

Ludum Dare 46

LD 46 - I'm In

Uncle is back in the attic. I am on call and have a deployment with work this weekend, but let's see what I can get done.

Using Unity, Asperite/Blender (depending on theme), Visual Studio, Audacity

Hopefully I get something finished. :) I have been missing the jams, and need to get back to them, cause they were fun!
