Don't forget, it's april fool's day !
A fishing game ?
A fishing game ?
I'll perhaps participate, excepted if I don't...
If I do so, I'll be alone (really?), and submit a thing for the compo, excepted if it's not ready. In this case I'll submit for the jam, excepted if it's not ready...
Tools: - Yes
Have a good LD all! Excepted if you have a bad one...
Kisses! :kissing_heart:

Here we go again...
Done a ton of smaller game jams since last LD (LD48) so feeling more prepped :D:D:D:D (who am I kidding?)
Good luck to all

I am very excited for coming weekend! Music is an important part of my life. Here are some music pieces I'll probably listen to during the jam :-)
Does anyone have suggestions in the same line as the ones listed above? Or did you think about music to keep you sane durning the weekend? :-)

It seems to me that using Discord or blog posts isn't the best way to find a team. Does anyone else agree? Or disagree? I'd like to know what other people think.
Once upon a time there was a site for this. I'm seriously considering making a replacement. If I did, would you use it? What would you like to see as features of such a site?
Please let me know what you think, positive or negative. The more responses I get, the better.
Thanks.
Yeet here we go againz, good luck all
i have school, then a whole game jam over spring break, this'll be fun
a h

can you stream your game?
First time our team is joining Ludum Dare and we’re excited. Hope everyone has a great one!
Hey. I'm at the final stretch of finishing last LD jam's game! A good time to start a new LD game, what could possibly go wrong.
Basically I added a Level 2 and a Level 0 and made a lot of things more stable and some unstable while also adding a lot of stupid fancy stuff.
My 6th time around and excited as always! My wife challenged me to create a 3D game without violence...
Challenge accepted!
I'm going to participate on the new format so it's more relaxing this time.
I am in, cannot wait to start making some great apps with everyone!
Has anyone ever made an application rather than a game, but still fit the theme? Some of the themes in this jam are particularly good for it, like combine, garden, out of order, and so on. They wouldn't be "fun" in the traditional sense, I assume, but with engines like Godot, making an application really isn't vastly different from making a game.
I just wanted to share my nerves, this is the first time I participate in a Game Jam. And not in any Game Jam, in the 50th edition and 20th anniversary of Ludum Dare!
So there's a game jam in like... 13 hours. There's a list of possible themes. Maybe you're thinking "I have no idea what to do for any of these themes!". Don't worry! I'm here to provide you with a list of some of the most idiotic ideas imaginable...
wait...
That's not helpful at all!
Delay the inevitable - A real-time strategy game about non-existence for the final 8 billion years of the heat-death of the universe.
Fragile - A tower defense game where you deploy increasingly more powerful publicists to protect Will Smith's ego from an onslaught of jokes. (Ooh...snarky AND topical!)
Make connections - A game about meticulously planning a trip across a major city using public transport. It's a text adventure. I mean, who doesn't love bus schedules?!?!
Mutation - A visual novel where you're a evolutionary biologist but everyone you meet is a hardline creationist... and you're just trying to find love, man. YOU JUST WANT SOME ONE TO LOOOOOOVE!
Teleportation - Just make Portal. Seriously, it's SO good.
A single resource - A social engineering game where you publish the phone numbers of your real life single friends on the internet and charge money for people to access it. Wait... EA just called me. This idea is now part of their IP.
Folklore - A quiz game where every question is about the hit Showtime TV series, Queer As Folk.
Shelter - A game where you play the final three days of life as a 13 year old dog abandoned at the local animal shelter before you are put down. Holy shit. This is the saddest fucking idea I've ever had. What is wrong with me?
Infestation - Two words. Ass. Spiders.
Road trip - Remember that film from like... the early 2000s? You know, it had Tom Green in it. Yeah, don't make that into a game - you'll get sued. Instead, how about a game where you and you sister are arguing while playing Connect Four and you have to win the argument and the game before your parents put a suitcase between you?
Tunnels - It's literally Fallout 3. But you play as Butch DeLoria in between the scenes where he interacts with "the main character". Seriously, Tunnel Snakes RULE!
Overgrown - It's a "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids" game, but you end up stuck in a depressed man's body hair and have to fight gross shit like skin flakes and sweat gland eruptions. Ughhh.
Out of order - A physics-based QWOP style game about banging a gavel and desperately trying to manipulate your vocal chords into saying "You're out of order!"
Space is limited - A game about fitting oversized goods into your car boot (that's a trunk for Americans).
Combine - A manhunt meets postal slaughterfest about a farmer who's "been pushed too far" and his trusty combine harvester, Betsy.
Garden - A cleaning simulator set in Madison Square Garden after yet another disappointing loss by the New York Knicks. But it's also a subtle sabotage game, because the more the Knicks lose, the fewer people attend the games and the easier it is to clean the Garden. This may be the greatest game I've ever come up with. I have a single tear rolling down my che... wait... no. That's just a sweat eruption.
Anyway, I hope that sets a bar so low that any idea you come up with in 13 hours looks AMAZING!
Best of luck! Have fun!
I started prototyping Cubis puzzle clone a few days before current LD 50 begin. Early progress I can show just flood-fill testing really.

No matter what engine, framework or library you use, it is important that you start the setup before the jam starts. so make sure you have a barebone project ready if you haven't already. it's also helpful to setup other things like a github repository and make sure all your usual software are working and dont need any updating or troubleshooting.. for me for example I use the godot engine, so I have a (jam-template) project always ready. it has common components like -A global scene manager with premade transition effects -A global music player that can play sound effects and handles music and music transition. -basic customizable splash and menu scene -common sound effects like buttons and splash scene music and some other utility and misc I use
