Ludum Dare 50 April 2–5, 2022

Trying this again!

Feeling more ready than ever for this, as I have nothing else planned this week-end and the weather here is gonna be rainy and cold! I decided to make a 2D game in Elm and have even written a base skeleton, so hopefully I’m going to have more time than usual to design, program and polish this game.

25th

Ludum Dare 50 will be my 25th Ludum Dare (started with LD26 in April 2013). I will probably make something simple, since I'm getting to that age where I can't sit in front of a computer all weekend and write code. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the kickoff event in Knoxville on Friday night.

LD50: My first game jam ever!

Hi! I'm super new to game jams, and only slightly less new to gamedev as a whole. I've made a few small projects for friends' birthdays over the past year, but otherwise I've only made a small demo of a 2D platformer.

I'm hoping entering an event like this will provide me an opportunity to personally connect with the community a bit more, as well as hone my ability to make something that works in such a small time frame. I'm not looking to revolutionize the gaming landscape obviously, just to make something relatively functional.

I am fully prepared to fail on all accounts, but I am still incredibly excited to take whatever path leads me to that failure. And if I end up with something I like, then that's a cool surprise too!

Engine: Gamemaker Studio 2

Art: Aseprite, Clip Studio Paint

SFX: Chiptone and just recording

Music: My friend seabats and FreeMusicArchive (I have no clue about music theory.)

Joining Ludum Dare 50

Looking forward to participating in Ludum Dare for the 4th time! Our team from last year found a few more members and we plan to code in Scratch.

Wallpaper! :D

Reused a logo from my last game and it looks really nice. I hope you all enjoy!

Posted an 'I'm In' for slaughter but not all the tool-listing shenanigans, so...

I dwell within! (You can't say that isn't technically something that 'I'm In' could be short for.)

Too lazy for much formatting but:

Tools: - Game Engine: Godot - Music: BeepBox maybe? Just saw a nice tutorial for it. Otherwise, maybe LMMS and/or Audacity and/or unknown looper pedal app I've been looking for... - Sounds: Audacity and/or some kind of sfx generator. Maybe just BeepBox again, I was having some fun with note sliding earlier. - Art: MS Paint + Paint.net most likely. Possibly IbisPaint on mobile; I did a mixture of both last time.

General Goals: - I want to see if I can put what I theoretically learned this semester in 'Rapid Prototyping' class to good use to help with scoping and prototyping, which I am notoriously not good at in these jams, although I always finish my games. - Try to adapt what I've learned this semester from 'Intro to Screenwriting' class to either game design or just telling a good story through the game.

Rating Goals: - Top 10 in humor baby! - Or better yet, top 3 in any category, want to see one of those shiny little medals this year ;)

For those of you who prefer it simple. Cheers.!LDBG4.png

Game Engine Decided

This year I'll use PICO-8 for the first time in this game jam~

It'll be fun~!

LD comes around fast these days

Alright, I'm in again. I've got most of the weekend free this time. So looking forward to a solid jam. A few friends are also participating this time around so it's going to be fun to compare ideas and how we interpret the theme.

The final round is a little split down the middle on conceptual themes and specific themes. But overall, should be another good jam. Looks like many people are figuring our ambiguous themes make for the best themes.

Good luck everyone!

Do you need audio for your project?

Hi, I'm a composer and audio designer in professional training, I would like to participate in this edition of the Ludum Jam, if you need someone to focus 100% of the time just for the audio of the game, you can have me as a partner, it will be a pleasure to work on your project!

I'm looking for a team to collaborate with game audio production

Hi guys, I'm looking for a first experience with game audio production. If anyone need a composer and audio designer to produce the soundtrack and sound effects, let me know, let's talk about.

A little bit of my work: https://open.spotify.com/album/3jtb56OF5LU4aA2ybO3suF?si=9HTXAsKDQV-TD5MPRxGqzg https://open.spotify.com/album/4qg8THPwYduATJxDa4h9C0?si=VSFR2M_5SvmRrfI18HFavw

I'm in!

I'm in, celebrating Ludum Dare 50 with my 15th attempt. I'll be partaking in the compo, planning to take it easy and aim low because that's the sort of weekend I want to have.

Obligatory "I'm in" post

Going to enter, and this year, I'm submitting SOMETHING, no matter how bad I think it is!

Good luck and have fun everyone!
