Ludum Dare 50 April 2–5, 2022

We are in for the first time - NoobSquad

Have not developed anything close to a game in more than 10 years (if at all in some cases). We are basically four old guys with no skill.

Going to be using:

  • Unity
  • Affinity Designer
  • Visual Studio
  • (possibly) Spriter Pro

Everybody have fun and see you soon.

I'm in...

I'm IN

Using my 4 year old code base. I want to see how many LudumDare competitions it takes to get the code to a point where I'm able to make more complete games. This will be number 4. I have mainly only added to the code during ludumdare.

I am going to be continuing development of my LD48 entry.

Follow me on Twitter if you want to see how it turns out.

Yet Another "I'm In" Post

Saw everyone else doing these so thought of doing the same. This is my second Ludum Dare (the first one was on a different account, switched accounts for personal reasons) and I will be joining using a custom NES-inspired fantasy console i've been developing over the past few days + libresprite for art

So excited!

Gathered for the event! This will be our 2nd. Thinking about a 2D platformer type game. Will be using, Unity2D Photoshop, Illustrator, maybe Aseprite as well. I'll be live in my Twitch channel (Turkish):

Will be using Unity, and perhaps LDtk, if I end up need it.

First LD Game Jam!

This is not my first game jam, but it is my first Ludum Dare one, and I am really excited to be part of it! I have released 2 games on my itch.io page if would like to check those out. All in all though I am excited to be part of a big game jam and cant wait to create something. I am willing to work with a team if anyone would like to have me be part of one, just let me know.

My tools:

:black_circle: Unity

:black_circle: Gimp

:black_circle: Bosca Ceoil

:black_circle: Blender (if needed, not very good with it)

The time is approaching!

It's strange that in just two short hours (and some change) a word or short phrase that will define my next 72 hours will be released. I'm excited, and also a little nervous, as my last LD didn't end up going so hot.

Anyway, good luck to you, fellow jammers! I look forward to stressposting and reading about how you all seem to already have near finished games on Friday night ;)

Only 2 more hours!!

I just finished a 20 hour school assignment in 4 hours so I could join. But I guess it's just practice for making a whole game in 2 days Lol. I wish everybody best of luck on the jam, and remember to drink water!

I'm probably in!

This could be my 12th LD Jam in a row ;). So its also a long journey to go.

I hope i come up with a good idea this time - as sometimes it wasnt a good idea hehe. So thats why i say "probably" because this time i decided to just make the game when i feel that this is the right game to make. The Theme always suck (ok..now always but mostly).

Toolset: - Art: Aseprite as always - Music: Beepbox for music maybe - Sfx: maybe beepbox or sfxr - GameEngine: Unity or GoDot (i just had started learning GoDot which i really like but i am not sure if this is a good idea for a jam :)) - Stuff: Moisturizer! ...or even just coffee and energy drinks

Small tips from a "LD Veteran light": - think small (the Compo is 48 and the Jam 72 but the effective time might be a bunch of less more) - doing art later when you are solo - get the key loop done first - (Unity Only): If you want to publish WebGL, test very often as it might suck sometimes. However you can always export to Windows as fallback. - playtest could be important but as i know from myself (and from many post mortems of Phil Strahl) we never have time to playtest often. Sometimes time is so less that we just try to do a playthrough and publish then. - if your game getting good ratings, you should not care too much about. It is more about fun. I often forget this too :) - You can prepare a template project for the jam which means you can have a skeletton with title screen, game over scene etc. as a base. Any codebase is allowed from yourself.

This will be my second ever LDJAM i had a lot of fun learning and hanging out with everyone last time. Love the community. Still a solo Unreal dev for now. sorry for large file size in advance.

I'll also be happy to play and rate games on my twitch channel twitch.tv/potkirland +)

Taking part in the 50th event; got an engine in the works, and hopes for a good game to come out at the end. The engine I am making is open source, and can be found here: https://github.com/haxx0rm4n/ldbb

I'm In

Looks like it's that time again. Let's see if we can make a game in a weekend.

Unfortunately, it looks like there will be interruptions, so I'll have to be careful to keep the scope small. Hopefully it can be a small but interesting concept.

I'm not innovating too much on my toolbox, so here's what I plan to use:

As usual, I may need to pull in various other tools to make everything work well together (looking at you Audacity).

Good luck to everyone! I look forward to playing your games soon.

In, again, somehow.

The most recent weeks were a hard time for me (in a positive way) but I wanted to be in again and there we go.

This time I will be participating in a chilled manner. No hard schedules, no preparation. If it turns out good and the game is finished -> Cool. If not -> doesn't matter.

This is anniversary. Anniversary is party, not work (well every LD is not work actually), so lets party! I'm going to bed soon and will be in tomorrow. For me it's going to be more like a 48h Jam

We are back!

As the last two hours are passing, it is time to announce that my team and I will be back for Ludum Dare 50! The last time around a lot of us were struggling with finding the drive to participate, but I am glad to announce that this time our team will be almost complete again, so get ready for a banger LD!

There is only one small change in personnel: since our graphic designer is unable to attend this time around, we are looking forward to having @papapaul fill in and provide awesome game graphics!

I wish everyone participating good luck during the next few days. Hopefully you get some creative ideas to create an awesome and unique game!

UOT Games

Time is tight but I'll give it a go

I like the idea of the Extra format, I've never been able to dedicate enough time over a weekend to get to where I want to get to so I might make that extended deadline a fallback option if kids / work / life get in the way in the next couple of days.

Other than that keen to get involved. Working solo - most likely using Godot in order to take a break from Unreal.

Fun times.
