Ludum Dare 50 April 2–5, 2022

My tenth Ludum Dare!

I feel like I have to make an "I'm in" for that. Good luck everybody!! <3

24h challenge

The jam starting at 4 in the morning is pretty wierd for me and I also have only 24h to make my game because family stuff. 2nd jam and already increased difficulty, lets have fun!

Obligatory I'm In Post

Here's my obligatory I'm in post for LD50! This will be my 14th (?) LD event and I can't wait. I'll be using the same tools and 'workflow' as always:

  • eclipse (lwjgl)
  • my own 'engine'
  • aseprite
  • sound: I never get around to doing sound

I think one of the best routines I've gotten into during LD is cleaning my workspace before the event begins, and here it is waiting for me to wake up at 03:00 O_O

I'm In!

I've been going back and forth on if I want to do this or not, but figured I might as well go ahead. What's the worst that can happen, right? So I'm going to be participating in the Jam, by myself.

I've been into game development for a while now, but haven't come out with anything substantial. I'm not the best at C#, but I've very experienced in other programming languages that are similar so I'm not too worried.

My goals for this Jam are to learn more about the Unity tool and C#, and overall make something that I am at least somewhat proud of. Hopefully this will give me the confidence I need to actually do something that I've always wanted to do, make a game. Wish me luck, and good luck to everyone else!

Cheat sheet

:warning: Remember that games are player-centric. :warning:

So, make sure your game has:

:whitecheckmark: An objective for the player
:whitecheckmark: A challenge for the player
:whitecheckmark: It's clear what the player does
:whitecheckmark: Simple controls (W, A, S, D, SPACE, Arrow Keys, Mouse)
:whitecheckmark: Style (consistent across all content)

Good luck to everyone. Heart this post

I'm in!

After a very long break, I decided to participate in Ludum Dare again. I hope that this time I will be able to finish my game before the deadline. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Good luck everyone! :beers:

Tools:

  • :hammer: Construct 3

  • :musical_score: 1BITDRAGON

  • :art: Procreate / Photoshop

This is going to be fun!

As someone who is new to gamedev with a full schedule I am ecstatic to hear about the Extra format. I can be apart of the community and make my game but without the stress of a 72 hour time limit.

I'm in!

Posting an "I'm in" message seems to be the hip thing to do, so please allow me to jump on the bandwagon.

I'll be using javascript/webgl and live streaming my progress at twitch.tv/shorkiesoftware.

I'm looking forward to having a good time and playing all the games you come up with!

Should be in!

I've setup my Godot project and git repository, I should be good to go for the compo.

I'm going to try to keep my scope reasonable this time, I would prefer to finish sometime in the afternoon on Sunday rather than going right up until the deadline.

My tool list: - Godot - Aseprite - Inkscape - Blender - GIMP - Audacity - Reaper for music, I think, which is new for me.

I'm somewhat inspired to try making yet another programming puzzle game this time, as I've recently been playing Shenzhen I/O. But that may be far out of scope.

Not sure if I want to go vector graphics or pixel art this time (or 3D graphics!). I used to always use pixel art, but now it's become something of a rarity for my games. None of my last three games have been pixel art (although, two of those were Godot Wild Jam games).

So maybe I'll try to go back to pixel art. I think the real reason I prefer vector graphics is because it's much easier to do procedural animation--vector graphics can very naturally be scaled up, rotated, etc. Hard to go back to pixel art, at least for a jam setting, when it is less flexible in those ways!

Anyways, good luck to everyone!! Can't wait.

I'm in this!

Let's go!

Come join me!

Live in a couple minutes brainstorming until the theme announcement!

Calm before the storm

I'll be off to sleep and hopefully wake to a good choice of theme.

Not excited about most of the selection, but when has that ever been different? What weird challenge would it be if we got the perfect theme, right?

This time I want to challenge myself to do something with a good mood. I want to know if I have made any progress with my music skills since my last participation. I'll try to compose a somewhat decent orchestral score. It will be tough to hit the mood though since my drawing skills are still pretty meager.

Tools of the trade: * Godot (my first Godot game, I am pretty pumped!) * Aseprite for graphics * likely Reaper and Miroslav Philharmonik for Music * likely Chiptone for SFX

Let's go ! Join us if your are an Musician or an Artist wihout team !

Here we go!

My 5th Ludum Dare as part of Tamanegi Collective, and it's time to make some great music for this one. Hoping for stuff like Folklore of Road Trip as they offer me quite a good canvas to work with.

Will be using:

• Pro Tools • RX Suite • Spitfire BBC Orchestra (possibly)

Ready to go in a few hours

3rd time participating in one of these. Hoping to actually finish my game this time. Going to aim for a Jam entry, but I'll go for the Extra instead if I struggle like last year. I'm also off work for all of next week, which should help if I need it.

First time in LD

I'm also in, though I will go solo and Extra, if I can find the spare time. Some common tools:

  • Godot
  • Aseprite
  • Have some fun

Wish the best to everybody in this LD50!
