Night 1 Is A Success!

Day 1 was my most successful for a Compo ever. I'm going to bed night one with a minimum viable project ready go! Tomorrow I can go right into iteration and I couldn't be more pleased. Previous rounds I've gone to bed night one with nothing more than some ideas and really get to work Saturday.

Hope everyone else is having a great time with this one as well!

Jumping right into Art

Got up 6 o'clock in the morning here without setting any alarm. Weird what excitement does to you xD

I decided pretty quick for a space shooter type of game and going for prerendered 2d images of 3d models for the ships.

First ship is designed: Fighter-Type-Stout

Now i will try to get some coding done as it would be so tempting to come up with more ship designs. Its important not to overscope.

Night 1

Night one ran well :). My movement System for the player is in place and the A* for the Enemys performs nice (External Libary, for the first time :) ). I think this game will be good. I like the theme very much. Kind of has a Dark Souls feel to it.

Turning in for the night, not much done yet

Really liked the idea I had for the Only One Resource theme, so I'm repurposing it for Delay the Inevitable by making a sort of tower defense. Working with Unity since that's what I'm most used to. Didn't get much done tonight other than the start of a hex grid, but I'm gonna get a good rest to go at it all day tomorrow.

Well, it's a start!

Got basic character graphics and movement support. Up next: level rendering...

Fast Prototype #2

Just keep doing prototypes

Bomb Flipper

Progress so far

My game is called "Southbound Flight", you play as a goose migrating south for the winter, escaping the inevitable changing of the seasons. You press spacebar to keep in the air.

First couple hours

For me the jam started at 4 a.m. After an hour of trying to go back to sleep instead of brainstorming ideas I got a general concept and started working. I made the layout in Unity with a lot of stock icons... 1.png ...and then remembered that I'm aiming for the compo, so had to make art from scratch. Moved to photoshop, tried to draw a bedsheet, gave up and just made a photo of my bed. With some work, I think it looks decent. 2.png

LDJAM connecting people

Me and my fellow creator lives in a time zone which is 11 hours apart still we are enjoying the process.

I can explain...

Jumpin'

Jumpin.gif He's jumpin'!

Way too obvious or way too controversial

Whelp!

Joining again... Maybe this time even uploading something? (hah, prop not :/ )

Like all years, stuck on the theme. Either an endless runner where you get progressively slower but can boost it for a few seconds with random rare powerups Or a super controversial topic that might not land good in many people's opinion but would make a big societal commentary on the clubbing scene ...

So, doing some more brainstorming because I don't want to do the easy thing and don't think I can take the flack for the controversial thing..

To the drawingboard!!!

Normalno Delay

Normalno budet, inevitably.

Concept sketch is done!

I'm still not 100% happy with my theme, so I decided to make a concept sketch instead of coding in case I come up with something better in my sleep.

The denizens of Tartarus are destined to escape and wreck havoc on the mortal realm someday. As Tartarus's guard, the dragon Campe, it's your job to keep them imprisoned for as long as possible! Each punishment needs your attention to keep going, so you have to pay attention to all of them at once to ensure no one breaks free. How long can you protect the mortal realm from these criminals?

LD50 Sketch small.png

Otus and Ephialtes - giant brothers who tried to overthrow Zeus and were bound by snakes

Ocnus - imprisoned for an unspecified crime and forced to weave a rope while a donkey quickly ate the other end of it

Tantalus - for killing, cooking, and serving his son as a meal to the gods, all food and water recedes from his touch

Sisyphus - probably the most famous resident of Tartarus, he shared some of Zeus's secrets and has to push a boulder up a steep hill with impossible terrain

Tityos - on Hera's urging he tried to assault the goddess Leto (he's one of many of Zeus's illegitimate children, most of whom Hera tried to destroy), so he was sentenced to have two vultures eat his liver

Ixion - for trying to seduce Hera, he was tied to a flaming wheel

The Danaids - 49 of Daneus's 50 daughters who killed their 49 husbands (who were all also their cousins) and now spend eternity trying to fill up a leaking vase

Salmoneus - an ancient king who demanded his subjects worship him as better than Zeus; his punishment isn't super clear but one source suggests he was positioned under a teetering boulder always about to fall on his head

Did an art?

Had a DnD campaign today so didn't do much ( couldn't even do much art :/ )

Game Concept

Woke up 30 minutes ago, it's time for developing a new little weird game :) game_concept.jpg

We're making progress! :D

Hi! We've successfully finished brainstorming and our artists are doing some concept art for the main character of our game!
