Ludum Dare 50 April 2–5, 2022

2nd Day Progress

Our game

We are making a train management game where you play minigames to fix the components! So far we got the main systems and a couple of minigames!

Tomorrow we will add more minigames, sound effects and our main soundtrack!

All I will show for now is our main menu:

For all Compo jammers: Good luck in the last 20 minutes!

Wooooosh

First Compo done... Looks like I finished it just in time... BTW, here is my game, https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/chase

Another compo done and dusted

Yea, this game could probably need a better tutorial, but I am happy with the result

And we're done!

Since we're both working tomorrow it was time to turn it in tonight!

Working on the Jam, so we've got a while longer! Best of luck to everyone finishing up their compo entries!

Where did all the time go?

Well it's been a few hours since I submitted and got a few hours sleep. Reviewing my code, there doesn't appear to be much there. With the biggest class, the primary controller coming in at just 433 lines. So what was the biggest time sink for me? Here's a rough breakdown:

Design: 1- 2 hr

Code (Scripting and Unity Prefab Setup): 10 - 14 hr

Making GIFs for the Internet: 1- 2 hr

Sleep: 12- 14 hr

Audio: 1 hr

Art: 7- 10 hr

Idle: 5 hr

I'd rate this jam 5 out of 6 happy purple stars.

Participation

Although I was looking forward to partaking in this year's Lundum Dare, life had other plans, I will just be rating games this year, Good luck to all of the participants!!

Toy Diplomacy

Making a game about a planet full of irate dictators trying to end each other's world (the one they share). You manage quickly degrading trade deals - trying your best to keep these demanding leaders from pushing the button.

You can check out the design doc/progress if you're into that kind of thing:

Past the grindy start, on to the grindy mid-portion.

DLAY's Buffet is now published!

A grab and throw mechanic with crunchy sounds and a boss with an attack sequence, maybe I played Elden Ring for too long, still fun to do something new and test myself.

HAVE FUN EVERYONE AND GOOD LUCK

Finished!

Turns out I had more than enough time to finish my game, so much extra that I took an entire hour off working on the game to have a relaxing dinner to calm down after coding like a maniac. I think this might actually be the first Ludum Dare that I've been able to do a full playtest of the game and patch all of the bugs with over two minutes to spare. 😅

Now it's time to work on the game page....

i cant believe i finished that

i havent even made a game before i am so happy that i was able to finish in time!
