My submission for the compo, Plandemic, is a game where you have to quarantine people who really don't want to cooperate with you. While the game is much simpler than I had initially intended, I think I'm happy with the basic gameplay! The initial idea behind Plandemic was a RTS which would provide you with the tools as a public health planner to efficiently limit the spread of the virus, until the inevitable: i.e. everyone is immune or has died. While the full on RTS mechanics didn't work out, the whole "herding cats" aspect of it went really well I think. You can see a great deal in the source code where I had planned out a feature which simply didn't pan out as I didn't have enough time. The full plan for this game included a currency system for making structures which included testing stations, medical tents, and turnstiles which would limit the number of characters which could be in a building at any giving time. Each character would have had a routine which they would follow, including both work, errands, and leisure. Obviously, this was certainly too ambitious for the compo.
Additionally, there is a decent amount of assets in the source file which don't get used. This is because I wanted to initially use a material pack which I had paid for prior, but ofc compo rules only allow you to use art you make. Here's a comparison of how the game looks for the compo, vs how it's supposed to look

Ultimately though, I'm glad I ended up with a actually pretty decent albeit simple game, check it out here
