Day One Progress

Today, as usual, I mainly worked on the visuals. I got a lot done, so tomorrow I’ll be able to focus on the gameplay.

A frog defeating frogs. Soon, he will also collect them. Stay tuned for more.
Happy to say that even on a heavily underpowered laptop we can run it with 500+ enemies on screen with no slowdown!
Frogtastic!!
Am I funny?

Hey everyone, it's been a while! My last submission was on my digivorix account back in 2023, but I've decided to return to using this one going forward. There have been times that I've planned to participate in jams, but never end up finishing my submission. Hopefully I'll complete something this time around :)
Didn't have much time, but night is coming and it is a perfect opportunity to work. Already made most of the tilemap and some character art.
Still have not written a single line of code, but while the godot was updating managed to make this little mockup of how main game screen will probably look like. Wrong aspect ratio and lack of interface are not intended.

Our game has made some progress, I'd say. We went from this last night:

... to this today:

Building models, better lighting, a new custom skybox, a proper weapon model, the bullets no longer resemble orange tennis balls, and five levels of shoot-em-up action.
Making sketches searching for a game icon, guess we're find our choice!
Pencil and paper process still feels like an "honest work" when comparing to the one-click AI generated solution...

I've got two ideas the night after the theme announcement. I thought they were great. But I built a prototype for the first and it was really boring. The second one might be interesting but one can argue it is not a game, at least not in the way you would expect.
I try to be original but then just fail in frustration. I should come up with something simple and fun and create a game not experiment.
Giving it another try, wish me luck 🙏
I've gotten past my creative block and my carrot-collecting puzzle game is coming along nicely. There's a lot more sound and animation now--the bunny can hop, and can get stuck in holes, too:

Hang in there, little bunny!
I think this game will end up a bit smaller than my usual Compo entries, but hopefully a little more polished and bug-free. Let's see how much more I can get done before bedtime.
Ok so it'll be a scroller, and the right side of the screen will be used for special purposes. I had a late start but I'm counting on my JavaScript spaghetti skills.

Fellow enjoyer of affordable cardboard: We, the Gentlemen Teaparty, are estatic to announce, that our warrior against the the worst of all folks has been discovered. However, we found ourselves in quite the predicament: We were not able to identify this honorable man by his name.
So, anybody: If there's more to be known about this individual, please make yourself heard!
