Ludum Dare 58 October 3–6, 2025

Finished!

And after 48 straight hours of wake-ness it is time for a very long "nap"

My compo entry: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/58/bigdig!

My first solo game jam!

I finished a game I'm pretty proud of! It's not great by any means but I made it while also dealing with 3 screaming kids! 😂 It was actually pretty much less than 36 hours since I started the morning after the theme was announced. I had tons of fun and learned a lot! Check out CLEAN UP THE TOWN: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/58/clean-up-the-town Also on itch.io: https://elfb0y.itch.io/clean-up-the-town

Finished! Was a fun challange

Never built a claw machine before—turns out it’s way more fun than I expected!

I've finished

I decided to make a roguelike again and this time I combined it with a minesweeper https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/58/ashveil bandicam 2025-10-05 23-23-43-776.gif

Done !

That's done. Until the last minute, I thought I wouldn’t make it in time, but I still managed. I’m happy to have participated in this edition. The last one I did was LD42, a long time ago, but we don’t always have time to join. This time I took the time, and I’m pleased with the result, even though I wish I could have gone further

Good luck to everyone, and see you soon on your games!!

Contain (your emotions)

Phew, somehow made it.

I nearly broke the thing entirely when I added too much boxes, so had to scale down a bit...

There's not much of a challenge or special goals in the gameplay, but the loading/unloading mechanic is fun to fool around with at least.

Will be adding a browser-build and up-to-date promotional GIFs sometime later when I have the energy.

Good luck everyone who keeps on jamming! :muscle:

Finished!

Collect them all!!!

These will be our beautiful collectables in the game. Each of them with a unique cute design and of course each of them providing a different buff to our sneaky racoon protagonist.

I actually cannot take a screenshot of it because it's visible only in motion (thanks to brantagames for their addon, wanted to try it out for some time already)

This is a game of all time indeed, something something art even maybe (idk)

Look no further, try Stealth Hobo right now!

Did REALLY enjoy this Ludumdare, i feel like i made an overall good game, a little bit of polish is still missing, but i got everything that i hoped for and more!

The whole game is made in Core Javascript on a html canvas - and - it - just - WORKS! \o/

My Co-worker:

I'm almost done for the day. Here's my dog. Shout-out to her for being such a good girl during the jam and thoughtfully leaving me little landmines all over the house for the past 48 hours.IMG_7636.jpg

I had so much fun doing this Compo! Let's start rating now.

My first ludum day 2

It’s my first time joining ludum dare and working with @voidsrc as a team, and I’m already having so much fun and gaining tons of experience. Here's our setup! photoem2025-10-05/em23-53-14.jpg

Done!

Soulbearer is finished!

Descend into the catacombs and collect souls to fuel your lantern. Keep your distance from restless beings and keep your lantern burning or you will join the dead for eternity.

ld58_ss.png

This was my first attempt at a somewhat spooky/atmospheric compo game. I think it turned out quite nice despite some time constraints. Check it out!

Finished!

The hardest simple game you'll ever play.

GIF 06-10-2025 00-26-26.gif

This was my second time participating in the compo. I took a way more relaxed approach and finished way earlier than I expected. Here's the result: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/58/gems-of-kaine

Day 3 already???

Time flies when you're having fun, can't believe we're already on the last day of the jam. Honestly feeling pretty good about where the game is at the moment, gonna spend today doing UI and polish see y'all at the end!

Right up to the line as always

So I managed to submit my game, Video Store Blitz, right on the line of the compo. And that's because it's likely the most complicated game jam project I've worked on. It's actually two games in a trench coat, one a high octane arcade collecting game, the other a fake Wikipedia.

Video Store Blitz Screenshot 2025.10.05 - 16.00.23.96.png Screenshot 2025-10-05 163239.png

I wanted to make something that gamified my personal collecting experience, a game which could include the back and forth of doing a bunch of research at home and then going to the store and hurriedly scanning all the shelves to see if they have this or that film I really wanted. Unfortunately, that required building a database of fake movies to collect. There are over 70 fake movies with descriptions, cast, crew, awards, all to make a little fake video store come to life. The first 24 hours of this project was just building out the logic to generate all the fake movies without having to sit and do it all by hand (though there was still a ton of hand work). The fact it's playable with a fairly sizable database synced between two different programs (written in two different languages!) Is pretty cool imo.

This was Cool

screenshot2.png

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/58/city-bike

This time my focus was on graphics. It was my first real pixel art game and I am proud of how it came out.

I wanted to do so much, but accomplished little.

I think this is a failure on my part! I couldn't allocate enough time and effort to bring my idea to life. I started wrong and spent a lot of time solving very simple and non-essential tasks. Next time, the project will be fully implemented and playable цпуцп2йп4.png

Finished the game in time

Screenshot of the game

Can be played here!

The whole upload process was stressful, I'd say because I didn't test upfront whether the web port from Godot would work or my shaders would be compatible with the different renderer. But hey I got a somewhat decent Solitaire working in less than two days (in which I learned how to play it). So this event was quite fun again!

Share your highscore

A friend just played my game, found a meta strategy and beat my highscore easily. Now I'd love to see your highscore & screenshot!

I’d also love to hear your feedback and rating! Post a Screenshot of your highscore!! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/58/shape-collector

Foley in the Garden!

My son asked me why I was smashing old Jars... I needed to create everything from scratch for the compo, so had to do my own foley! :D SMashPots.jpg

Anyways, after a bug fix, the game is now playable!

STAVROSLMAINPIC.png

Will share more in the morning.

That is another Ludum Dare Success!!!

Thanks all! goodnight and good luck to all those still jammin!

That's a wrap for day 2!

Gameplay_v2-ezgif.com-optimize (1).gif

I am so amazed by how much we've managed to get done in these 2 days. It really shows how much our gamejam skills have improved these past few jams. From getting better at planning and scope creep to just being more prepared and on the same wavelength with each other. Can't wait to see what we can get done tomorrow!

Good luck with the final stretch everyone! Time for bed now...

do we have a window for tweaks?

i made a change prior to the end of the jam that i guess i didn't upload the fire pit here is the change, in the current build it's raised up too high, my buddy got stuck on it during playtesting. 1390A45E-550A-4B2F-9746-7055459FC5B0.png

Hurray, it works!

I couldn't figure out what the problem was for the longest time. It turns out in Unity you need to uncheck the "Data Caching" option and the build started working. If anyone encounters this same issue, the solution is very simple!

I am making a game in WebGL2 this time.

I hope I have time to implement the gameplay for the Jam... :')

We Done It

(and by we. I mean me)

I very comfortably submitted my game under the Compo jam this time ^_^ It's a hexagon-based blockpusher/sokoban game and im super happy with how it turned out !!!!

play ittttt :gun::cat:

(woah we get real gun emojis on here. Sick lmao)

Bones

💀

My game has a bug, but only on here??

I did some movement by setting the objects position directly (I know you aren't supposed to do that, but thats why I'm not making the big bucks) Anyway, while the projectiles work fine in debug and on itch, they go backwards on here? I honestly can't even figure out why this would happen. Oh well.

harvest valley

Hey everyone! I’ve just finished my game 🎮 If anyone’s got a bit of time, I’d really appreciate it if you could playtest it and let me know if you find any bugs. I still have a little time to fix things before the final version!

I'm happy to announce that we can now collect things in our game!

Title says it all, this has been a pretty ambitious project so far but we can finally collect things in the game. Some may say collecting things is the entire point of the jam but I think the Collectors were the turrets we made along the way.

Happy final day everyone and good luck! :tada: collection_ui.png

I did it! First LD compo ever

Pretty proud that I finished in time.

It's definitely not complete - I had big dreams for an upgrade type resource-management game where you invested in larger water flasks and made dew collectors and could get farther every run.

In the end only had time for the core loop, so I tried to make that fun and look good. I'm especially proud that the look is cohesive since I'm a coder and always worked with artists before, so this was very new for me!

Also did I mentioned it was my first time using Godot in a jam (though I have a lot of Unity experience). Feel free to play and rate :)

Urgently changing the game concept

Originally, I wanted to make an immersive card game about exploring abandoned apartment buildings.

However, I couldn’t dedicate all my time to the jam, so now I have to drastically cut the game down to fit the remaining 15 hours and finish it in time.

photoem2025-10-06/em11-12-38.jpg

Little update

Updated the build. It's a shame I didn't get around to doing so much, and I didn't even get to the compo =( But at least I finished the main loop. I'll be glad if anyone likes it =) Image Sequenceem002/em0000.jpg

Nearing the end!

imageem2025-10-06/em104616987.png

We're entering the last 14 hours of this jam! There have been a couple complications along the way, as usual, but we believe in ourselves and advice you to believe in yourself too!

A bit o polish

It's amazing how much a little bit of art makes a difference!

Recording 2025-10-04 191803.gif Recording 2025-10-06 190808.gif

I have been taking it pretty easy since this weekend actually was busier than I thought it would be but so far this is already more than I had my first jam so I'm happy I managed to get some stuff working.

The rope physics is a bit fiddly so I cut it back to a simpler version for now but I'd love to get the dangly rope done!

Collect shapes and show me your highscore

Can you find a meta strategy and set a new highscore?

I’d also love to hear your feedback and rating! Post a Screenshot of your highscore!! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/58/shape-collector

we will

我们将在今晚做完

let's jam!

can u see me, we'll finish it 2night.

I think this is my unfinished final

I managed to get into this state. Doesn't look bad but there is still a lot of work to be done. I know I won't make it today, so no Jam, and not sure about Extra category.

CrateSpin Boss Music

Thought to upload the boss music since I have a feeling that I may have gone a bit too overboard with the difficulty curve - and I'd like jammers to give it a listen.

Fish Feud 2 WIP

Really like where this is going :) Really almost done just gotta make a couple more enemies and some levels

It's kind of a flip of the theme, where in the first game you're collecting fish but now the fish are dishing out "collecting"

Working to finish the gameplay loop on time ! Navigation, levels, and data retention is all good ! Now to add a few more features and finish the content ! Then hopefully we'll still have some time to add some polish and work on the game feel.

STAVROS - Trailer

Hi all, made this as a bit of fun. Here is a short trailer for my Compo entry

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-_rJ79uSH0

Enjoy!!

I used only my voice to make all sounds for Paper Fishing

You can play and listen Paper Fishing here

It was very fun making it, but the most challenging part was making a sound of the reel, when you pull out the fish

catch_fish.gif

I listened to at least 15 different reel sounds before trying to reproducing it. The main challenge was that I can't pronounce the hard R properly so I can't do TRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR sound that it makes.

I noticed that sometimes the reel sound consists of two (good example might be this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMTin3LDdE4)

  • Sound of the string vibrating in the air, which more like a breathing out sound
  • Sound of the spinner squeak, which I could actually repro without R sound, but just relaxing my throat to max, and do a creaky eeeeee sound.

I think it ended up good enough, but I guess fun of making it was the most important part for me. My friends always notice the wind blow sound, but no one mentioned the reel sound, which I think turned out quite interesting :)

If you want to catch some fish and (and listen to my voice lol) consider playing (and rating) Paper Fishing

Caps Mania#2. Ludum #58

During the development of the game, I changed the idea a lot and simplified the gameplay :D screen.png
