Starting to make a game
I haven't touched Godot in months, or done any game dev in months. It started 3 hours ago and I haven't started even brainstorming yet
Let's do this.

A rollerblading lizard chef!
We have a skybox we'd like to implement but we have no idea how to do it in Godot.
There will be some nodes containing the clouds, stars, moon, sun, etc that will follow the camera so that they are independent of the size of the map. But we also want to apply a simulated atmosphere to make it look like the sky is changing from blue to night time (with sunset colors in between) using a quad with a gradient on it. We want to attach this to the camera as well in such a way that it affects the whole sky, but have it render behind the world so it doesn't affect everything else. We want all of these to render behind the rest of the map. Can someone give us a hint?
For reference:

i keep procrastinating in the brainstorming phase oops
better haul ass into godot and start coding smth(✿ ͡◕ ᴗ◕)つ━━✫・*。
I expected, that LD Theme was about spliting, so I began thinking game idea before viewing theme. My idea was spliing time in different sections. After getting theme, I drew gameplay concept of the game, location and few dialogs. Then began programming part. First, I made dialog system, after that I designed canvas, wrote text and began testing game. After hour of bug fixes, I started making main location of the game! On the screenshot you can see first progress
Every ten seconds was my least favorite theme before starting the jam but after and hour or two of brainstorming and coming up with ideas I've got something I'm really excited to work on so maybe it was pretty good after all

I am going to be building a 3D RPG for this Ludum Dare. With no engine. Feel free to call me crazy.
This edition I'm partecipating in the compo, and for the first time ever, I have a clear idea of what I should do. Let's hope it turns out to be as good as I imagined it!

After many years of struggling against medical/psychological conditions to the point of not being able to work on my hobbies anymore I've been recovering bit by bit. Now I'm at a point to see how far I've come and to try picking up one of my passions again, Game Development/Design. What is a better way than going back into a Ludum Dare gamejam (my 4th!).
Since I'm not entirely back into top condition i wanted a concept that even if it's not finished by the end that I'll be able to keep working on it and expend upon the base game to keep having fun.
After 3 hours of thinking this is what i came up with: You're a fresh spaceship pilot embarking on their first flight, accompanied by your ship's AI. Due to hostile rogue drones is the use of interstellar maps or radars a huge danger and thus became obsolete. Now the only way of navigating is a short magnatic pulse that's being sent for a split moment every 10 seconds so the drones cant track you. Your goal is to navigate the stars with very limited awareness of your surroundings and finish jobs given to you by your alliance.
This can later be expended with more variety of jobs, a story and many more RPG elements such as ship customization, ship building and boss battles.
Thank you all for reading through all of that text and goodluck with the jam, im cheering for all of you!
Lose, Reset, Win.
Now to make it an obstacle course with 10 second levels.
I have scant skills in game development and not much time, so my game is likely to be like an art house with a certain plot, but not very rich gameplay. Is this not an indicator of total failure?
Providing much needed artistic support, look at this cute ghost!

I am getting down some concept art and titles for the game. It's 4:34 am where I live, and while I am going to work on the assets first, my engine of choice for this project is not clear yet. It's either Unity or AGS... but I still haven't decided.
dog lawyer says Woof, Your Honor

The first sprites are done  not sure if they are final tho :joy:
love to add a DUDE_OK variable to store whether it's ok to call the player/protagonist "dude"
I got to admit, the theme did not immediately fill me with joy and crazy ideas. However, with some brainstorming help from some friends, I have the idea.
The player is in a small arena with pillars stood around it, and (some task I've not decided on yet) that needs to be done, but, ever 10 seconds a giant ball of light spreads through the arena and burns the player UNLESS the player shelters in the shadows of a pillar.
So far I have an arrow as the player, and some white circles for pillar. I'm dreading getting to the art stage!
