I decided to make a Roguelike-Tactical-Deckbuilding-Shmup:

You plan what your space ship will do during the next 10 seconds. For that you get some manouvers at the beginning of eeach round, which are drawn from a deck. The goal is to eliminate all enemies (or at least survive the wave). Ideally you will be able to refine your deck and upgrade the ship between waves. However from my LD-experience I can predict that only half of the ideas will be done in the end :D
Got a lot done in the first day but so much more to go.
Completed so far: - Ship line art and base colors - Basic water and sky - Basic starfish - Rocks (3 variations) - Ship holes (3 variations) - Starfish tossing mechanic - Start of starfish patching holes mechanic - Starfish spawning - Rock spawning - Animations for starfish in the water - Animations for starfish shrinking into background when thrown

You play as a shark and shoot lasers at fish.

Every 10 (yes 10 😏) seconds your spaceship alternate between top and bottom of the screen.
A lot of work remains (like readability, a little narration, balance, and sound effects) !
Alright, we got our SCRIPT done, we got our CHARACTERS done, and I almost got the DIALOGUE SYSTEM done. Just wanna get that done, put in some NPC's and some buildings and crap and tomorrow finish the day-night system and add some music. If we have time, we'll add some actual gameplay.

Beginner progress report: I'm pretty happy with the gameplay of the tutorial level, but how am I supposed to get sound, reasonable artwork, and a good amount of levels going before submitting? O: Ah well, I'm going to do what I can with what I've got. On to level transitions!

Every ten seconds spent hungry, his relentless march begins, eating anything on its way!
This is my progress so far, I need to communicate more informations and feedbacks, add some mechanics, but I think I'm on something !!

Hello,
I'm here to share with you a very important message. My friend who is completely new to games and also game jams is participating with us in her very first game jam ever. She's very nervous about her art so I'm just here to show off the main menu (work in progress) art she's made so far.
Thank you for reading this very important message.
I have clocked 4h of work. I have created an ontology for "similar" things. (I have reduced the scope for the prototype to numbers (odd, even, prime) and letters(upper, lower, vowel, consonant). Since I don't really have time this weekend it will not have objects, animals ... because I don't have time for art (I wanted to generate them with AI)
for now the game is not colorblind friendly (and not friendly for anyone with a bit of artistic taste) :

I am coding on VS code with Github Copilot, a lot of the code is produced by Copilot. I wanted to have the art also produced by AI (and maybe the music)
When I am less tired I'll try to write more about that... Is anyone else using AI generator ? (for texture, art, music, code)

Tomorrow I will add an outline to the player to make the player visible!

Its starting to shape up. Just a little bit of tweaking the mechanics for balance, then the rest is polish. A little under 24 hours left for the compo.

Holy shit, like usually I can think of something from a prompt, for almost anything, but this time.... I. AM. COMPLETELY. BARREN. FOR. IDEAS. I just don't want to do some kind of timer mechanic, but honestly I can't think of anything else for this theme (and I also did some kind of time mechanic for my LD50 game) :( Does someone else have ANY ideas for how to interpret this prompt?
I might just end up submitting a game that's pressing a button to prevent a timer from reaching 0 seconds -_- fml...

We got player and slime animations but also we need some rest. Let's see what happen tomorrow <3
Note: "Papitas" = smoll potatoes
The base of the game mechanics are done so I was sketching up how the final level could look in the game. I can't really draw so the way I'm doing this is that I started with a super low-resolution image in Aseprite, and I'm slowly upscaling it to my target resolution and adding detail. It kinda works!
