Tint/Modulate

When I make games solo, I always try to create white-only sprites or models, and then tint them in the game engine.

That's because it is easier for me to work in Game Engine than in an "art editor". They are not my bros. Also, it easier for me to keep art consistent when I see all sprites together in game, not when they are in image editor.

What are your tricks to simplify parts where you lack competence?

Thank you!

Sorry for taking so long, it's been rough, but I wanted to thank everyone because my game got over 20 ratings in just 48 hours!

Please play our game

Our group consists of a high school student and a college student, and we still have a lot to learn about game development, so please give us your valuable input! Our cute little creature designs come from some randomly distributed whimsy, and they may have some shades of real life creatures! c570de43551a857c705696d9deaf24e.png c570de43551a857c705696d9deaf24e.png We designed the levels very carefully and after many playthroughs, we hope you won't get stuck!

Half Way There

Thanks to everyone who has already checked out the game. But we are half way to 20 reviews. If you all could help me out and go on and Check out Perdita Creaturae I would greatly appreciate it.

Me at 7:00am finally falling asleep after killing all the mosquitoes

(I have to wake up in an hour)

Unity_x2z3ja9pqA.gif

Retrospective

Our team is very bad at coming up with ideas. So the best one we had (that would fit the theme) reflects my personal and painful experience of fighting with mosquitoes during this summer.

vvyNzn-WtaI.jpg (Wall stains mechanic was also inspired by IRL experience, when you care about finally being able to sleep more than about the state of your wallpapers)

We initially planned the gameplay to be a little bit more engaging, with tools and upgrades to help secure more sleep. Mini-game also deserved more polish, but ended up being neglected in favor of finishing other important tasks (huge mistake, as it later became clear by looking at the feedback). Oh yes, and occasionally waking up your neighbors with very loud wall smacks (sorry guys, I want to sleep too)

I regret not being prepared for this Jam better. There were so many things we could've implemented faster if I had prepared some universal code snippets in advance. With this Jam being my third I'm no longer allowed to use lack of time-management as an excuse, so for our 4th project I will try to improve my coding skills/efficiency as much as possible

Nevertheless, even if we weren't able to make the best game we envisioned, I think we managed to at least tell a somewhat relatable story  You can try it yourself https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/56/billions-must-bite

I need help delivering JUSTICE

A friend has started trying to speedrun the game we made, and he's just too good and have beat me at my own game. I just can't beat his score. I need some valiant pro gamers to help me put him in his place!!

Art process

Hello everyone, our team is very pleased to see your feedback and pleasant comments, and the fact that we collected them last day!! This is a great result for us.

Our developer is already working on fixing bug and a small gameplay fix, but for now I'll show you the process of creating the main menu of our game Beyond Fear

Maybe resort to the power of the multiverse?

In that case, it won't be us running from the queen, but she will be thinking of how to avoid checkmate from us... even if we're playing cards.

A Birthday, Blender, and Tiny Balance

Hey everyone! photoem2024-10-10 17.19.43.jpeg Today is my birthday, and honestly, I’ve already received the best gift — I managed to submit our game Tiny Balance on time with the team! ezgif-3-c58cc4d47c-ezgif.com-optimize.gif This project gave me my first real experience in 3D modeling and working with Blender. When we decided that there wouldn’t be any purchased art assets in the game, and that all the visuals would be made by us, it became a real challenge. But we did it! photo/em2024-10-10 17.32.30.jpeg What I’m most proud of are our characters. I created them on the first night of work using sculpting. The first model (a fox head) was tough foxy.png but with each new creature, the process got faster and smoother! bear.png My personal favorite is the little piggy, especially its ears, where I put a lot of heart into them :3 piggy.png

And now, on this special day, I feel like it’s not just me who deserves a gift, but the whole Ludum Dare community! That’s why I’ve decided to share an asset pack with our cute little creatures—feel free to use them however you like in your projects (You can find the link in the comments, since I'm having some weird issues with adding links directly to the post :c )

P.S. Special thanks to Solid Hinken for the platypus head, help with optimizing the models, and preparing the archive <3

Child of Entropy behind scences

IMG_5285.JPG Hi there, this is Pearstar, art director of Child of Entropy!! I drew these backgrounds for each level, the retro effect is created using filters, both to make the piece more stylistic and to reduce the amount of detail i have to get done within 72 hours.

Wish to know more about this game?

We appreciate every rating and comment!!

please visit the one named Child of Entropy instead of Child of Entropy-demo this project accidentally got uploaded twice, if we couldn't find a way to merge them, we can only keep one version....😭😭

All major platforms are now supported at Head'quarters

Hey!

Here, at Head'quarters we've just added support for Linux meaning we now support all major desktop platforms.

Including: - Microsoft Windows (64 bit) - Apple macOS (Intel and M* CPUs) - Linux-based (64 bit) - WebGL (meaning, you can play in browser not only from desktop, actually!)

Enjoy!

  • “The RPRs’ job on this cold rock is to cleanse the tunnels beneath, so we may once again have colony of some sort…”

  • Survive as long as you can! The Martian subsurface is a dangerous place…

  • Destroy the environment, harvest resources!

  • Upgrade your gear, collect better resources in other biomes, survive longer!

  • * *How long can you survive? ** (my best is 6:38 so far! :) )

I'd love to hear you feedback, try it here. Thanks!

Any way to search games by title or filter by ones you’ve commented on?

There’s a game that I played the other day (started as a game where you squish viruses with your finger in a lab and then had a fun twist with cutaway interviews which I don’t want to spoil) I think it was maybe called Tiny Flask? I wanted to find it again but I can’t seem to find a way to search a game by name or find the ones I’ve commented on/rated.

Is there any way to do this? 🥺 or does anyone know the game?

Procedural animation snailness

Just thought I shared some behind the scenes of my snail game! :snail:

As you can imagine, making a procedurally-animated sticky snail takes quite a bit of patience... and some bugs along the way :joy:

snailproto.gif

But it somehow didn't turn into a complete buggy mess in the end though!

Play in browser!

Hey! I want your feedback - https://forms.gle/iWV5tcCBiM2cBtwE9

Hey! I want your feedback! After doing some play testing, I'm thinking about the possibility of continuing to develop the game. However, I think the ratings of Ludum Dare are not enough. As such, I'm doing my own questionnaire. If you have already played the game, I would like you to fill this Google form, if you haven't played the game, I would recommend playing it and answering the questionnaire.

New tactic unlocked!

We can confirm: playing our game on a smart board with a styles is probably the best way to beat the other scores on the leaderboard!
