Ludum Dare 54 September 29–October 2, 2023

Postmorten Dare 54

What can I say? I wont be able to deliver on time for Jam. Was the theme difficult? No,that would be a bad excuse. The excuse could be that I wasn't able to disappear 48hs from my family and dive into the Jam, I would love, but these are other times.

I put my self some constraints using Raylib with C, so I kind had to learn both in the process. But this was super fun, and I learned a lot. But man, string handling....I cried.

Weeks before I was reading this tutorial https://learnopengl.com/ amazing, I recommend it, is not for Raylib but somehow are connected. It helped me to understand and fix some errors I had.

My idea derived in some kind of typing game. You are a Buffer, you receive data and you have to type it, move it out, If not memory start decreasing.

Anyway, here's a screencast of something running:

Not much so far, I hope for a next time, when my kid can participate too.

All the best!

Good job everyone!

This was my first jam. It didn't go as well as I would have wanted it to, but I still managed to finish "something" in time and hand it in yesterday, at the Compo. Although I don't have much time this week (catching up on pending assignments from uni that should have been done in the weekend), I will be checking and rating games as much as I can. I've already seen some wonderful stuff out there, so really, congrats to everyone!

guh i uploaded.

my idea was way too high concept and not right for a two day game :/

kinda sucks but also its okay ig i still pushed myself to make something and thats what matters and is the spirit of ludum dare

hope you guys have success but im going to sleep gn!

Extra it is

I managed to implement the placement of explosives but the game is still far from done, so I'm going into Extra with the extra objective of making it into a mobile game. Good luck to all of you who are still in the Jam!

Godot Engine Here We Go!

I've been using Unity for the past 6 years and completely ignored other possible engines (except for Unreal 4, i hate it so much)

After playing with Godot for a few weeks i thought it would be a good idea to "battle test" Godot in a game jam, and coincidentally Ludum Dare 54 was around the corner, so here we are with a submission to Jam category 1.5 hours before the deadline!

It's done!

Our game is finally done! It's been such a fun project from start to finish. For anyone curious, you play the role of an intern in a company that clearly doesn't care about your well being. Fill increasingly stupid papers before your shift ends.

The game is hard, but don't get discouraged!

BLOCKIES is now playable!

Blockies is a relaxing Tetris like Puzzle Game where you, a Game Developer, are tasked to implement as many features into your game as possible. These feature come in all shapes and sizes, you have to place them within your ‘Program Grid’. But, be sure not to use too many features without finishing them.

Apocalyptic Shopping Experience

We made a janky physics game about stacking items on a small moving platform. Here are some progress gifs!

Humble beginnings are very good for gif sizes. I need to make a game with just flat colors one day...

Graphics + the Watermelon placeholder. I'm very glad it actually made it into the final game.

Lots and lots of playtesting of throw controls. Honestly it still feels it could use some tweaking, but it works now!

Explosions, a tried and tested way to improve your game.
