End of day 1 - what's a delivery?

We didn't made our tradionnal we're in post, but it seems that we're in indeed. So what's up with our game? I really can't tell you. :D I'm very tired so I have no idea what I'm doing.

We may be trying to create some kind of melee-fps-dungeon-crawler. We may be failing to. Anyway, it's fun!

One of the enemies. Hope you'll love them!

While I was messing with Goto, Krita and some weird tools (png2wad for example), Bouteille has been quite busy and has made some great amount of work in the code. Nothing that I can show you for the moment, but stay tuned!

Day 1 Result

The first day of LDJam is over for me. Feels a bit old school, but you can steer, drive, and hit things - exactly what is needed!

Tomorrow I'll add obstacles, goals, and the rest of the game to be honest :) Cheers!

Day one progress:

Not really gonna spend a ton my time documenting this here, but I've somehow managed to finish the core loop of my game in the first 24 hours (hurrah)! I've still got art, sound, and a teensy bit more polish on the mechanics to get done, but things are looking good so far!

MilanotePage.png

So far the only thing I don't have on this page is audience reactions, which I can guarantee I have time for! (I've even got some quality of life things that aren't on this milanote file :3)

Unity Test 1.png

I can only hope everyone is doing even better than me so far! Good luck on finishing your submissions, I've still got a heap of work to get done! xD

Day one progress

We have chosen to make a tower defense! The goal is to take down delivery drones (from EvilCorp™? the lore isn't decided yet :smirk:)

Currently Unnamed Game About Teeth

Looks like I'm opting out of the theme since I misread it as teeth

this is all i got done yesterday, i'm so slow

We made basic "eating" logic

At radius A, it starts to notice the player, spins on it with interpolation. If the angle is acceptable, it moves toward us.

At a smaller radius B, it stops moving and shoots bullets at us (if the radius is acceptable). Then it spits out "bullets" and gives them momentum. The bullets don't do any damage yet. videoem2023-04-30/em01-18-59.gif

Fast & Pizza

An simple RTS about pizza deliverers? Where you should manage pizza scooter inventory by planning for refills on the path.

PimpMyTrain

Easy train customization, totally unnecessary for our game:

Needed all around the galaxy...

The art isn't loaded in, and the level is simple... but can you guess the (physics-based) gameplay from this screenshot? =-D Those are definitely planets, and they definitely create gravity...

First day progress

Fiinrii here, Very productive first day, struggled coming up with a unique idea but after lots of brainstorming and programming I have a rough prototype, it ain't pretty but it plays. Tomorrow's job is art. ss1.png ss2.png

Day 1 Progress on my first Jam

Been fiddling with Pico-8 recently, and decided late to try a jam game.

Some sort of Chu Chu Rocket-inspired arrow-placement resource fulfillment simulator. Still needs a name.

I have little trucks driving round map, obeying coloured redirection arrows. And for some reason I have multiple maps and a level select too. Tomorrow I should probably add some actual gameplay...

It makes you want to eat it!

This beauty is a real treasure, and you can also lick it.What it is?

Saturday progress

Spent too long messing with lighting in Blender to get that retro “spacey” feel, but I have a spaceship that you can pilot around and dock with a space station. Screenshot 2023-04-29 at 5.01.38 PM.png

The plan is to build on the resource/ecosystem management systems from my last LD game Official Planetologist, but with different cargo affecting the resources on board the spaceship (e.g. you’ll want to haul plants to keep oxygen levels up, but other cargo might be radioactive and mutate the plants to do something else…)

I’m using pre-rendered sprites, but in order to get perfectly smooth rotation for the spaceship, I’m rendering all the frames at the same angle with only the lighting rotated, then rotating it and picking the closest lighting frame in engine.

Resolved! I need help, is that allowed?

I can't for the life of me figure out a good way to take whatever is being displayed on the window and find out the color of just a single pixel! I'm using pyglet and if anyone has any idea how to do this, and it's not against the rules, please comment with your suggestions.

Day One: Succes!!

With a few completely unexperienced game developers we managed to have a working prototype after the first day. There still are many ideas for improvement and we could still add tons of content, but we are very happy with where we landed after only one day.

Screenshot 02.png

Tomorrow we need to figure out how we can get our game published and reviewed. We tried reviewing other games, but didn't find how we can do that yet. Does anyone have usefull tips for that? Maybe the option to review is blocked during this weekend (while the games are still under construction)?
