You can never have enough special effects! Our game Atomic Rock Paper Scissors was lacking some visual feedback (which a lot of people have correctly remarked), but now every time you gain levels in the nuke/metal bars a little particle flash appears, as well as a nice green blast on the nuke icon once you got a new one. All accompanied by sound effects too.
It's looking good now! Can't wait to release the new version for you guys to play! We're almost there! Everything is 10x more satisfying! :)
Would have been easier to achieve all of this with a proper engine. A custom engine really makes everything many times more difficult. Lesson learned! :x
I wanted to show of one of the features that didn't make it into the final game. I wanted some more difficult levels using 2 trailers, instead of just one. Turns out, driving these is extremly difficult, especially with the limited controls the game offers.

So unfortunately I scrapped this idea, as having simple controls (so phone users can play it too) took priority.
🏆 The leadersboard fights continue, and Nomo took first place in the final level! 17 seconds clear of the number two! Now that's impressive!

Give it a shot! Play Trailer Trials here!

Paper Route is definitely a rage-inducing game at the best of times. It's an easy game to play, but an awful one to master. Maybe it was designed my a pure evil mastermind with a vendetta against the print media industry, maybe I built the third level 2 hours before the deadline and didn't test it, there's no way to know.
Check it out for yourself, though!
We met Yuri playing LD49 games on stream, and he had so much fun with Paper Route, he decided to compile the experience into a video. Enjoy watching him rage, drop a subscribe, follow him on twitch and also check out his brilliant game, Bugsy's Barbershop

I think a lot of people will agree with me on this; Getting a good concept for this jam was difficult! We had a lot of ideas that didn't really go anywhere.
As you can see in the image we wrote quite some of our idea's down but eventually got stuck because we couldn't think of anything else. Maybe a good tip for the next jam: Delve into your idea's and see where you land.
With that I mean, don't just keep thinking of new idea's but actually think about your current idea's and see how you can spin them. On one of my previous posts I talked about this a bit more!
Once we choose to delve into "Climbing a mountain while drunk" (which might've been a bit to specific)
We thought about what would be cool for this game and how it would actually work. An important thing to think about is the MVP, what do you need to finish the game; what makes it fun and what makes it winnable?
Our MVP for this game was the wiggly movement and the goals! The rest was extra or even optional. Once you are working on the jam, you can decide to cut things out, like "doing small tasks" since they wouldn't add a whole bunch into the game.
I hope this was at least a bit interesting to you!
I've been thinking about it and many people said that our game would be a great mobile game if we worked on this for couple of months, add content and fix bugs.
Share with me your opinions!

Can you beat me at my game, Polygonal Animal Stacking ?

Give it a try here. Ratings and feedback are much appreciated!

We made a game for an oscilloscope and part of that was evaluating an Unity plugin we made before the jam for oscilloscope rendering. Turns out, we were missing like 90% important features in our plugin so we basically made an improved plugin from scratch during the jam. Now I cleaned up and ported all the improvements from the jam entry into our plugin for everyone to use with easy example scenes.
Don't worry if you don't have an oscilloscope. Our plugin & Ludum Dare entry also comes with an emulator.
