About score.
Hi everybody !
I’m the one who created Tripe Traps and I would like to talk about the score system.
At the begginning, all traps were 80 pixels width and each “Crushing the hero” gave 100 points. But later, as the hero became faster and faster, give only 100 points wasn’t rewarding. That’s why, players win more points depending on its speed.
Another point is when the hero is superfast, crush him is difficult because he suddently appear from the left. So I decided to reward players who manage to anticipate the activation of the trap according to the speed hero by giving them more points.
And finally, I thought if players put on a competition for the best, the three traps gave the same amount of points, but it wasn’t interesting, and besides, players will use less often the first trap. In order to give a more interesting challenge, I decreased the width of the first trap (and give more points), and In order to not discourage beginners, I increased the witdh of the last trap (but it gives less points).
With this system, it is very difficult to get the same score.

Well, I managed to more or less complete an entry for Ludum Dare, my first one! I wanted to recreate the classic villain-hero ending scene a la James Bond where the bad guy, instead of shooting a bullet right between the good guy’s eyes, decides to explain his whole plan just in case someone in the audience did not understand it.

This is the bad habbit, not the breaks I guess 😉
