Finally I could Finish The Flappy Gringa

TheFPGringa

TFPGringa2

I could say I  finished the Game, I couldnt finish the game the 3 days in a row, cause I was busy with University stuff, each day working 1 or 2 hours coding and making graphics stuff.

I think this experience helps me a lot in learning how to draw, not so well, in the tablet, also to learn all the Photoshop  shortcuts and draw quickly, The real days of the MiniLD #49 I was making graphics like a Turtle.

Maybe I’ll post some updates or port it a better version in Android, but until now this is the game I wanted to finished in this MiniLD, I need to follow training for the real Ludum Dare.

See you next LD GJ!

Check out my new iOS game!

Preface: Sorry if these kind of “check out my game” posts don’t belong here, please let me know if this is the case!

Hey everyone! My friend and I, who’ve participated together in Ludum Dare 27 (I’ve also participated individually or with other partners in Ludum Dare 28 and Mini LDs 47 and 48), made a game, Trippy Bird, for last month’s Flappy Jam. Since then it’s ranked #50 out of about 800 entries in the competition, and we’ve ported it to iOS, where it launched on the App Store today! I’d appreciate if you check it out here, it’s completely free!

Spam Spam Spam

Hey folks! Apologies for the frontpage spam. We’ve been running anti-spam plugins for several years now, and they’re still catching thousands of attempts, but there’s this really ugly onslaught going on now that none of them can stop. Anyone following the RSS would be wise to discontinue for the time being. We’re deleting the users manually as we see them, but regrettably these bots are way more persistent than us.

I definitely plan to resolve this, even if that means writing a custom anti-spam plugin. Alas I’m away at GDC this week, so I will not get a chance until I return. Soon though, soon.

Thank you for your patience.

More info: The main problem with whats been going on is that anti-spam plugins are for comments typically. It’s very rare to find plugins for stopping signups and bad posts. We have a catchpa, but lately I’ve started running a new plugin that is supposed to catch user post spam (CleanTalk), but you’ve seen the results. *sigh*, looks like we need to take more drastic measures.

If anyone decides to write a clever new anti-spam plugin while I’m away, please get in touch. ;)

Any references on how to handle RPG events in Unity 3D?

Hello there,

I am working on this RPG game in Unity and I’ve come to the point where I need to develop the system for handling events. The thing is, I have a class called “interactable”, and that class is supposed to serve everything from NPCs to treasure chests and doors. Programming the behaviour of each instance in the instance itself (in the case of Unity, in the prefabs’ scripts) is, however, definitely not the way to go. I would like a way to express how interactables should behave (NPC dialogue, items contained in chests, etc.) from an external file (probably a text file) and load the pertinent interactable data depending on the room (scene) I’m in. Any tips on how to start on that?

Moreover, I need a way to handle the events that these interactables will trigger. I’ve looked at this reference for event handlers in Unity with C#: http://www.everyday3d.com/blog/index.php/2010/10/04/c-events-and-unity3d/ , which already helped me a bit, but I’ve thought of basically two ways to implement this in a game-wide system: Either one event controller per scene, which would have information on the events that could happen on that scene and handles all of it (activates listeners, etc.); or a game-wide event controller (a singleton), with information about events from the whole game. Which do you think is better? Or would you rather go with another alternative?

Thanks in advance for the replies

I’m no expert. In fact I was aiming to start making an RPG type of game but got side tracked. However I did research it a bit. The needs will of course depend on what type of RPG. But anyhow. There are som fairly slimmed xml readers one can use for unity. Should be easy to find by googling. That could solve type first problem.

So, hello Ludum Dare (that’s lu-DUM DAH-rey to you) and hello blogging!

So, after months of procrastination, I have finally decided to make a blog post. At ten o’clock on a school night. Yeah, that happens.

Even so, if you came here from somewhere else and you have less of idea than me about how this stuff works, then congratulations, ’cause I didn’t think that was possible.

On a more serious tone, this blog will likely just be me posting random shizzle about life, code, and video games.

But, as this is a coding website, for coders, it will be mainly code to avoid getting blocked for spam or something crazy like that. I will also try to enter some LD competitions, and fail post about that.

For example, why the f*** java.awt.Point[0,0] isn’t the same as java.awt.Point[0,0]. Or just why I’m bad at coding ’cause I’m 13, with no life. Or both.

So, anyway, it’s getting kinda late, so I’m’ma jus’ gonna press this ‘Save Draft’ button and hope for the best. Good night!

Heheh. I remember two years ago, when I was thirteen and just starting my first Ludum Dares, and ten o’clock was still late. Ah, yes. You have a long journey ahead of you, friend. Welcome to the threshold.

I’ve been adding in lots of aesthetically pleasing stuff in NIKRA, and it makes killing things so much fun!

There’s a new video showing this off:

Thanks guys! 😀 ~Seth out

We are 5 young entrepeneurs from 2 companies, who went together to create project: “Success in 60”. The idea is to create an entire iOS and Android game in just 60 hours. The Challenge: We are coding an entire game from the bottom up with no preparation (Both iOS and Android), Marketing it, Building a website and all in 60 hours, while locked in a glass cage. To top it all off, we’re live streaming the entire event on youtube, and opening up our office for visitors and the press. In the meantime we are running a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, with a goal of 20.000USD in just 3 days. Everything is LIVE streamed to youtube, where we will be doing live interviews once every hour, controlled by our cameraman and press secretary Soren, who is also part of the event. We will also be updating Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat on an hourly basis.

The event is all about giving the motivation to take the leap and become an entrepeneur. If we can get an idea, build a concept, create a game and release it, all within 3 days – we will have proven that anyone can become an entrepeneur, all they need is a little willpower and drive

The timeframe is short, as part of the project. Friday March 21st at exactly 15:00 CET, we close the doors to our glass cage in our office on Boulevarden 17, 7100 Vejle, Denmark. Only to leave the cage for toilet visits until monday night at 03:00 CET – exactly 60 hours later.

In this period, everyone is welcome to come by and watch – but only press, journalists and camera crew is allowed within the cage, by appointment.

We hope you find our experiment interesting too!

A Boolean Tale now on Kongregate!

The Ludum Dare is always a good opportunity to make some games, publish them and see how far we can go with them. For those who remember our LD-28 entry, A Boolean Tale (and for the others, too); we are happy to announce you that we submitted the game on Kongregate. Maybe could you pass by and tell us what you do think about it!

Play A Boolean Tale on Kongregate!

We are very happy to see that we are actually able to make something out of some little games made in a few days, and that’s also why we love Ludum Dare so much.

Pulled Frop.

USB Arduino/NES Controller

Hello hello !

I am really in the mood of making a classic NES demake for the miniLD, and what would be more awesome than to be able to play it with real NES style ?

So this week I worked on little script/manipulation that turns an Arduino and a NES controller into a USB Keyboard. Maybe it can be of use to some of you, so feel free to grab the code on this github repo. This require some simple Arduino modification but the documentation on the github page should cover pretty much everything (if not, don’t hesitate to ask me questions on the comments).

If you manage to use it, I would be glad to have some feedback on this, there is certainly some room for improvement.

Cheers !
