BlueBit: Ludum Dare 28

BlueBit Preview

The BlueBit team is participating this time ’round!

Twitter: @FROMapboy & @Spiritbinder

Will be streaming Saturday.

Tools:

Main IDE: Unity3D

Graphics: Photoshop / Paint.NET

Sound: Audacity / BFXR

Looking forward to getting to mess around with Unity’s brand new 2D tools, should be loads of fun!

First time

Hi, this his my first LD. I’m not a developer, I’m just a gamer who learnt some programming languages on the internet and wrote scripts for my job (searcher). I don’t exept to make a great game but I will do my best.

Languages : HTML5 & javascript. (I’m better in python but I didn’t learn graphics library yet, I just make console scripts for my job).

Graphics : paint pixelart, svg, photos etc. I’m not an artist, you should exept stickmen and rectangles!

Music/Sounds : none, maybe I will troll with my 10€ mike and mouth noises.

And I’m French, it explains why my sentences are strange or incorrect when I write english. I apologize for that.

First timers at Jam attempting VR w/ Oculus, Hydra and possibly a CAVE

Greetings everyone, we’re a small group (3 people) coming from a small VR lab at our Univ.

We have a background in making educational games and training simulators but are excited to participate in our first Ludum Dare Jam.

We will most likely be doing something that takes advantage of an Oculus Rift and Razer Hydra. If time allows, we will port it to our CAVE and possibly android. Keep an eye out for us!

Team E.C.

First ludum dare.

Today i will be participating in my first ludum dare competition. Although this is my first time I am no stranger to video game design and programing.

I will be using C++ with the sdl library and paint and photoshop to create the imagery.

First Time

I keep meaning to take part in one of these but it’s so hard to get a weekend free of commitments. Except this time! So I’m going to jump in for the first time and see what happens.

  • Programming Language: C#
  • Game Engine: Unity
  • Graphics: Blender, Photoshop
  • Audio: Awkward silence?

Might try to do something for the Oculus Rift, depending on the theme.

Dinner and a Jam

I haven’t done a Ludum Dare for a bit, so I’m going to give it a go this weekend.

Going for the Jam this time because:

– I’m old and can’t pull all-nighters.
– My lovely wife can help.
– I’ll have time for nice dinners like tonight’s Soondubu Jjigae.

A challenger appears

This will be my first Ludum Dare, and my second game jam. I won my first one, but there was about 10 participants, max. Welcome to big school!

Tools:

Construct 2

Grafx2

sfxr

and if there’s time for music: MilkyTracker

I might be in!

I don’t know yet. I have an exam about halfway through the event that runs for 3 hours, so it’s a strong possibility I won’t be able to do much. We’ll see!

If I do compete, I’ll either be using Unity writing scripts in C# or writing a terminal-esque game (roguelike?) in Java or C++, with Lwjgl or SDL.

My first jam, finally!

I have been following my friends’ progress in several of the latest ludum dares, but never gotten the chance to participate until now.

Currently studying the final year of my master in game and software engineering, I’m dying to start this jam now, and I hope I can finish something :)

In this compo, I hope to work out an idea based around music, since I love composing music.

Tools:
Programming/Editor: Unity
Graphics: Paint.NET, (pyxelEdit if I need pixel art)
Audio: FL Studio (for music), audacity, (sfxr for sound effects if I do chip style)
Version Control: TortoiseHg

My last advice for everyone would be to make sure you use version control frequently.

Thanks, and good luck to everyone! Let’s have a great compo :)

Entering the Jam

Hello!

I’ve been programming (not very efficiently) for less than a year and have only created one half/pre-pre-pre-alpha/garbage-game, but hopefully I’ll be able to create something playable, even though I’m going to use c++ and I’ve only made games in Flash before. I’ve never even used classes before… soooo… I might be taking on more than I can handle.

Programming language: c++

Libraries: SFML 2.1

Images/Textures/Sprites: Paint.NET, Photoshop

Music: Ableton Live, Pod Farm 2, Random free VST’s

Sound: Audacity, BFXR, SFXR

Try your best to finish as much as possible, but don’t be too disappointed if you don’t finish it. You’ll still learn a great deal, and hopefully have lots of fun :)

I’m in!

I’m in!  This will be my second time doing Ludum Dare.

My tools:

Code: Game Maker Studio: Standard edition

Graphics: Paint Tool SAI or MSPaint (or possibly just drawing primitives: depends on what the theme is)

Sound: Bfxr

Music: Autotracker

Timelapse: Chronolapse

I’m also declaring a small Application Controller engine that I built on top of Game Maker to help keep my code organized.  Source here.

Last time I made a simple side-scroller called “Shadows.”  I was proud of it, but I had a bit too wide of a scope: this time, I’m going to try to make something even simpler, ideally something I can have more or less done by the end of the first day (so I have time for tweaking if I need to.)

Third time Now

So I’m back! Entering the Jam again (due to time reasons and the excuse to off load stuff on my friends).  Looking forward to it.

Tools

Engine:

  • Phaser.io

Art:

  • Photoshop cs6
  • Shoebox
  • Tiled

Sound:

  • BFXR
  • Frooty Loops (maybe)

Tunes:

  • Childish Gambino: Because the internet

Some sort of “I’m in” post

Yo.

I’m in for the compo.

A week ago, I was a research scientist with no skills in AS3, pixel art, animation, or music editing. Now I’m, well, still that but less not delusional.

Code:

  • AS3
  • Flixel
  • Flixel Power Tools
  • FlashDevelop
  • Possibly small snippets from the Nutmeg tutorial, which I’m using as a reference.
  • Possibly Octave to rapid prototype, test, and balance game mechanics, but not for production code.
  • This incredibly hacky file that is the entirety of my AS3 personal code base. It’s a quick and dirty workaround to the no multi-frame animated button issue that takes in a sprite with animations for mouseovers already stored. One day I might make it less bad.

Art:

  • Gimp
  • DAME

Music / Sound:

  • Probably abundant-music
  • Possibly impro-visor
  • Anvil
  • Midi Converter Studio
  • sfxr

The Power Shirley Temple recipe I posted on twitter is an old creation of mine from my bartending days, and it really works. You will be super awake and you’ll feel like a little girl again. And if you ask any bartender for a “<name brand energy drink> Shirley Temple”, he or she will probably be able to guess the recipe. It takes roughly 2x as much grenadine as a ginger ale Shirley Temple, and it really makes the whole energy drink experience more enjoyable.

Power Shirley Temple recipe for #LD48 : Glass of ice, 8.4oz energy drink, .5oz grenadine, optional cherry. Stir and serve with straw. Magic!

Update:

Fuck yeah, grenadine

Red Bull Shirley Temple means I’m ready to go.

let’s do this crazy thang

I will be reprising my role as yet another guy who barely finishes due to random nonsense from real life interfering with a schedule

I’m probably using SFML in C++ and making it up as I go along (if I’m not using a previous LD as a starting point especially since they’re all so bloody incomplete)

I’m in! Second time.

I’ll be using this tools:

  • Flashdevelop
  • Pure ActionScript
  • Paint.NET
  • GIMP 2
  • Audacity
  • (maybe) FlashPunk
  • (maybe) Tiled Map Editor
  • chronolapse
  • sfxr, bfxr
  • autotracker
  • abundant-music.com
  • git

Let’s do this! Magenta will help us :)

Good Luck Guys

Good luck guys with your games!

Let’s try this

I’ll enter this time with no promises 😉 I plan on starting on a multiplayer, top-down 2D shooter in Nimrod using SDL. I’m simultaneously learning both Nimrod and how to build multiplayer networked action games.

i’m in

OK, let’s try that compo week-end.

It’s my first LD, i will suck at graphics, but i’m sure i can make something with flixel-gdx, paint.net, sfxr, and maybe fl studio.

I’m In!

Third time for me. My first attempt went… horribly, and the second was a VERY simple arena shooter.

Thought i would step things up a bit by using OpenGL this time around. Might be able to do some cool things but being to ambitious has screwed me over before so it’s probably just going to be moving boxes, circles and triangles like usual :)

Language: Java

IDE: Eclipse

Library: OpenGL

Graphics(hah!): Paint.NET
