SURVIVED MY FIRST LD!

Brillium – LD 30 – Connected Worlds
Brillium
I wanted to do a quick mini post mortem to sum up my thoughts directly after submitting.
LD30 was my first ever Game Jam, I have never made a game in such a short amount of time, and it was quite the experience. I knew going in that 48 hours would be tight, but tried to be prepared for anything.
I wasn’t too thrilled with the theme, but tried to go with it anyway. I ended up trying to make a game where you have several planets comprised of fluid-like matter, and you can drag this matter to other planets.
Then the goal of the game is to sustain life on each planet using the given starting resources. The worlds being connected via their need for each others matter.
I knew this would be a programming challenge for me as I had never created any fluid-like systems before. But I figured I had no better ideas, so I’d give it a shot.
In the end I did spend most of my time fighting with my janky, messy code, but I got it mostly working. I have 3 pretty (or at least I think so) worlds, and you can drag the resources between them.
I ran out of time and had to add game play later than I wanted. This ended up costing it, you really just have to drag resources quickly between the worlds before time runs out.
It really didn’t end up being all that fun or rewarding. So I’ll definitely take that as a lesson.
Anyway, try it out if you want, any feedback is much appreciated!
