LD #30 + 1

You have no idea how bummed out I am that I missed LD #30. An even 10’s LD have huge gaps in-between them, so I am going to call this:

LUDUM DARE #30 + 1!

I have no idea what I’m going to do, until I see the themes, but I know that I either using native Java, or Unity. This will be my third Dare, and I can’t wait!

Ludum Dare Theme Voting Data Aggregation

ss (2014-11-13 at 07.02.29)

I posted this on twitter a while ago and totally forgot to post about it here!

I gathered up the Ludum Dare theme voting info from all the previous pages I could find (I managed to go down to LD16) and organized it a bit. The data contains the theme name, net score, +1s, 0s, and -1s, both with the themes unmerged (tab 2) and merged (tab 3).

If you’d like to sort the data for your own nefarious purposes, Data->Filter Views->Create New Temporary Filter View will allow you to.

And now, here’s the data.

My first Libgdx Android Game

Hey guys, I’ve just released my first Android Game called Animal Puzzle. This simple puzzle game is primarily aimed at children under four (4) years old. The goal is to entertain the children while learning to recognize the names and sounds of some animals. It is a very simple game and try to avoid frustration by providing a puzzle that is not too difficult.

I would love to hear some feedback from you guys on what you think about the game.

I’m in!!

I really don’t know what to say xD

I just wanted to greet the community as this is my first time with ludum dare 😀

I will use only free/open source software as GIMP or blender for my assets and libraries and i really really hope i will finish the game in time for the compo (but probably the jam)

I’m In! …

Assuming that this is posted correctly, hello!

This is my first time joining the Ludum Dare competition and I’m not sure what to expect, but the experience should be fun. After seeing someone’s game creation video for Ludum Dare using Game Maker studio, I thought to myself, “Hey, I can do this!” and so I joined in. I’m not expecting to succeed in any way with the 48 hour version, but I don’t have the patience to withstand 72 hours, and the tight deadline might be an excellent opportunity to make a complete and finished game ready for release.

I will be using Game Maker Studio, perhaps FL Studio or something else for music, and a few other programs that will assist me on the way. So, yeah… Good luck to everyone else who is taking part of Ludum Dare #31!

Welcome and good luck!

Haha, don’t be so hard on yourself! The 48-hour Compo isn’t as hard to finish as you might think, if you believe you can do it. (Whether the game you end up with is good is a different story, but trust me when I tell you not to worry about that.)

Looking for a LD31 jam team!

Hi, I am a hobbyist game programmer, with over 2 years experience with unity and multiple games, and I am looking for a ludum dare jam team.

I mostly need an artist, 2D or 3D(or preferably both), but sound artists and other programmers are welcome too!

The team members should be comfortable working in GMT-2 (+-4 hours)and should have a instant messaging software(skype, facebook,etc..) or preferably, a voice chat software(skype, etc…).
if you are interested, email me at ** or comment.

I am in, for Ludum Dare 31…. alone this time… :(

For those who may have played my games, you probably knew that for 3 of my Ludum Dare games (28, 29 and 30), I am always in team with my best friend, who is an artist.

He is the only guy that I rely on for graphics in our game for all these years, and I was never really an artist because I thought that by focusing on programming, I could improve my skill far better than having so many skills to work on.

Now that I am truly alone, I must find a shortcut way to create the graphic of the same caliber as my friend, and still, have enough time to complete this project.

Wished that you could wish me luck, but I am really screwed this time…  But I will still keep myself up even in the toughest moment.

Here are my arsenals:

  1. Game Maker: Studio (Professional) – My main arsenal for this Ludum Dare.  I rely on it for programming the game, putting the graphics and sounds together, and then compile them all into a single game.  IF this tools suddenly decided to stop working, then I will be screwed.
  2. FL Studio 11 (Fruity Edition) – I just bought this recently, it has tons of sounds and samples that I will need for my game.  Very helpful to create a quick music with the tools available to me.
  3. LMMS – In case I need to do automation (in which the Fruity Edition doesn’t have), then I might have to resort to this option.  But most of the time, FL Studio works just as well.
  4. SFXR – I might not use this as often because it sounds too ‘retro’.  I will however, use this for quick sound effects.
  5. Audacity – It’s free, but its powerful enough for sound-editing.  Might use it a lot.
  6. GIMP – I will mostly be using this for drawing the sprites.  It’s free, but its as good as Photoshop at the moment.
  7. Clip Studio Paint Pro – This was included alongside with my graphic tablet that I have bought for a while now.  Pretty useful for quick poster or background.
  8. Paint.NET – As it is pretty light-weighted compared to GIMP, its pretty useful for a quick graphic editing or even sprites.
  9. Inkscape – In case I need to draw some vector graphic, I will have one ready for that. 😉
  10. MS Paint – For quick print screen editing.

So yeah, I guess that is all for my tools.  I HAVE ZERO TRAINING ON GRAPHIC.  Wonder if I can make it out alive… oh well, we shall see! 😀

I WILL BE JOINING LUDUM DARE 31 JAM!!

Cause you know… I am still not confident in solo just yet 😛

sharpening the tools

Hi,

I work on games as a hobby and LD is really fun. I learned quite a lot reading source code and getting feedback. You helped me improve. A LOT. For that I thank you.

I made https://github.com/mess110/coffee-engine which is an 2D/3D engine (if you can call it that). It is a thin layer over THREE.js in coffee script (for 3d part) and also a 2d engine – depends on what you want to build. It basically is a collection of classes which (I thought) could be re-used for game development like a Singleton SceneManager or a function which toggles the browser’s full-screen feature.

It is not yet polished – any improvement suggestions are welcome.

I plan to use it for LD31.

That being said, have an awesome day,

mess110

My first ludum dare

This is my first ludum dare :D I’m ready for you!!!!!

P.S:     I’M IN!!!!!!!!

I’m in… and Windows

Hey Ludum Darer’s,

I can’t wait for Ludum Dare 31 to come around and this will hopefully will be the best game that I have created.  I am planning on producing an isometric game this time around using Java.  As long as I can come up with a good game idea from the theme then everything should go smoothly.

Now that the Ludum Dare information is out of the way… I will now tell you guys that even though I am a huge Linux and open-source fan I will be switching back to Windows as my main OS.  I guess I don’t really have too much of a reason for doing this other than the fact that I have a valid Windows 8 Pro product key.  So because I own an official copy I might as well use it.

That’s it from me for now,

Good luck during LD – TechnoCF.

All hail the techno cult!

*insert creative i’m in post title here*

I’m in for Ludum Dare 31!

Its my third Ludum dare. Great Scott time flies.

Speaking of time, the time slot is absolutely perfect.

Its the day AFTER I finish school! That gives me one day to prepare my tools, and speaking of those;

Ableton Live 8

Good ol’ ableton. Originally, I had no idea what so ever on how to use it, Now I can create music form loops, As I will probably do in the compo/jam, and music form scratch.

SFXR/BFXR/JFXR/Rest of the alphabet

I’m kinda exaggerating, But I will use Sfxr, as any good man (or women, #feminism) should.

It does everything I want it to do! and nothing else… because it does everything.

Game Maker : Studio

My game tool of choice, a tool I have been using since age 10…. memories.

Its a good overall product.

My “amazing” setup

A laptop! No mouse! No headphones! NO NOTHING.

Thats my setup. But Christmas is coming, so come Ludum Dare 32, there might be changes.

The maybe list:

Paint.NET – I might, but GameMaker’s built in sprite editor does just fine

Clickteam Fusion 2.5 – I was told I’d be getting a license, thanks to GameJolt. But have not heard back.

cgMusic – If I’m not creative.

All the other doodads.

Anyways, Don’t expect much of me, I’ll probably end up washed in with the 200-500 mark.

I’m in too!

I’m very exited to attend my first LD and hopefully complete my first game.

My strategy is to prepare menus, some sort of primitive shape-factory, level-loading and input system before the competition starts. If the theme fits, it will be a construction game, where you draw/place objects to help you complete levels. I’ll might “cheat” a bit and prepare a generic object construction system in advance.

Any tips on preparations for a noob? I’m worried I’ll be stuck doing stuff that I should have done before the competition starts.

Good luck to everyone!

Language/Framework/IDE:

  • JS/Typescript
  • Phaser
  • IntelliJ

Graphics:

  • Gimp

Sound:

Why Unity? WHY?

So, I thought I might like to learn Unity so I could make a good game this time around, but freaking Unity doesn’t allow development on Linux. I spent about 5 hours getting it to work for Linux, but I can’t access the Asset store, I can’t put models, in, and it’s very buggy and annoying overall. Does anyone know anything about Unity coming to Linux soon?

P.S. I will be using Java again, but this time with Yamanu 2.0, which will be released as soon as Github decides to cooperate with me.

Yamanu Game Engine 2.0!!!!

Hey guys!

I’m excited to announce Yamanu Game Engine 2.0! Yamanu was completely rebuilt from the ground up with more efficient code, and speedy load times. The code is much much simpler to use. There’s less to type, for more features! This is a Java game engine, but with permission, could be easily ported over to the C’s. There is no video yet, but keep an eye on my twitter where I will announce the video. The video will be released before Ludum Dare 31. There will probably be more updates to Yamanu before the compo starts anyways, so keep an eye out on my twitter still. You can download the library here. The source code and bugs/issues are here. If there are any issues at all, please submit them so they can be fixed! Email me here if you have anything you have to ask or say to me! :D

See you guys in LD31, and good luck!

I’m in! (Maybe)

I may or may not be in, depending on what and how much homework I have that weekend

I hope I’ll be able to do it; this would be my first LD! :3

If I can, I’ll be using:
Language: Java
Library: JSFML
Image editor: GIMP (it would be Paint.NET, but I recently switched to Linux/GNU)
Sound editor: Nothing for now! I’ll try to get Terry Cavanagh’s Bosca Ceoil working, but until then my game will remain musicless 😛

I’m in!

I saw other people posting these I want in on the fun! This will be my first LD! I’ve been using Unity to make games for fun for about a year and a half but I’ve recently made the switch to UE4. My goal is to become proficient enough with UE4 to make something decent by the time LD rolls around! Wish me luck!

I’m In!
