LD31 December 5–8, 2014

I’m in for ludum dare 32 lol

Right now i’m just learning the few basics of java and c++, and i dont like the game makers like, “creator” or “game maker”.

I’m so friggin In!

I’ll be working with a jam team doing all the sound design and music.  My tools are multitudinous and specifically sonic.

Game Engine

Hey guys, i’m already in and know all the tools I’ll be using… but just for my personal curiosity :

What is the most used engine for LD events ?

Thanks!

Just a guess, probably Unity. It seems like everyone and their step son is using Unity .-.

Hey there! Our of our games were made in MMF 2, and we’ve been doing quite decently :)

I’m In, first LD for me ;)

So, I decided to give it a try… here are the tools i’m planning to use :

  • unity 3d as the main tool
  • Adobe Ilustrator, Adobe Photoshop for 2d
  • 3d Studio Max for 3d
  • soundation.com/studio for main music
  • http://www.bfxr.net/ for sound effects

Some unity plugins for graphics and audio :

  • NGUI for hud and menus
  • Toolkit 2d – for 2d animations and sprites
  • AudioToolkit for audio

I will use osX for developing with virtual box running windows 8 for 3d studio max…

Also I have a small program called Gawker for screen recording to create a nice time lapse with the development.

I’m not sure yet if I want to go with 3d or 2d ….. will see based on the theme

I’m in?

This , LD31, will be my first ever ludum dare. I’ve wanted to participate in one for a while but didn’t think I had the skills to make it happen. I have more confidence in myself now, and some small experience in prototyping a game in 6 hours, so I feel a bit more prepared.

My tools will be:

Language: Java

IDE: Eclipse

Framework: LibGDX

Art: gimp/blender

SoundEffects: Bfxr

Music: pulseboy.com or maybe lmms if I can learn it a bit better in time

So yeah, I’m pretty excited to participate. I’m not sure if I’m in this to compete, I’m mostly just really pumped to make something. Good luck to everyone!

Pretty much depends if you want to enter the Compo or the Jam.

In short:

Compo -> NO

Jam -> Yes, but please opt-out of the respected voting categories (Audio in your case)

Depends if you enter the Compo or Jam. In Compo everything needs to be created by you in the 48 hours you have. In Jam you can use pre-existing content but it is recommended that you use something that is not copy righted.

I’m in!

I will participate in my third ludum dare event! Yeah! I have no plans for the tools or engines I will be using so I have to figure that out. But I think I will be okay. What’s the worst thing that can happen?

You might download a fake tool from a malicious website which then proceeds to purposely force your computers hardware to overheat until everything breaks.

As you hope to still be able to repair your computer in time so you can participate in LD, you forget to unplug the electricity which due to the already broken parts causes you to get electroshocked.

The next time you wake up, you are in a hospital, surrounded by machines apparently keeping you alive, a doctor who noticed you are awake due to the changing sounds of the beeping machinery tries to explain to you what happened, how the electroshock caused part of your brain to malfunction – but you don’t even hear the end of it before you fall unconscious again.

I’m in! For real this time! Hopefully…

Another year, another try.

I will try to participate in this LD, but just like the last 2 years, I will not be able to use the whole 48/72 hours.
If I find some spare time in the next two weeks, I will also try to do some Preparation

My tools:

Language: Lua (either CraftStudio or Löve2D)
IDE:
CraftStudio or ZeroBrane Studio for Löve2D
Sound:
most likely sfxr or bfxr
Music:
still not decided on this one. Maybe GarageBand on the iPad
Graphics:
Paint.NET and maybe Pixelesque on Android

I’m in, again

I’m in for third time and three is lucky number.

I will be using same things as last time.

Few questions about Ludum Dare 31 and me:

Am I ready?

No, I ‘m not!

Are you ready?

Probably not?

So how will we be good at LD?

You could test yourself by going on 96h Jam with rules. You can suggest theme/rule and soon you will be able to vote for themes and rules.

What is point of 96h Jam?

The point is that people make innovative and fun games following theme and rules (everything is explained on Jam site).

Who can participate?

Everyone who can publish game in Game Jolt (you just have to be singed as developer).

When will 96h be?

At beginning I thought it will start on November 29 and end on December 3 (Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday) but after a while I realized that I have some big jobs to do on Saturday and then I decided that Jam will start on November 30 and end on December 4 (one day shifted).

If you have good theme/rule you can suggest it (go on Jam’s page) but hurry Sunday is last day of suggesting.

Wish you all luck on Ludum Dare and 96h Jam (if you participate).

In for the first time

I am going to participate for the first time in the upcoming LD (yay :D).

My tools are going to be:

  • Language: Java (+ GLSL)
  • IDE: Netbeans
  • Libraries: LWJGL, PNGDecoder
  • Graphics: Gimp, Hexels, TexturePackerGUI
  • Sound: not sure, might be sfxr or bfxr

It’s going to be a 2D game I think by the way.

Anyway, see you in the jam 😀

I’m in!! First time.. *new*

I’m in for the first time *yeah*!
Not for the whole 72h, but i do my best 😀

My tools:

  • Language: Lua (either CraftStudio or Löve2D)
  • IDE: CraftStudio or ZeroBrane Studio for Löve2D
  • Sound : sfxr or bfxr
  • Graphics: Maybe Gimp

Cya 😀

I’m In For Try Number Two!

My first ever Ludum Dare was number 30, last time. Here I am again for try number 2! I’m hoping to learn from my mistakes last time, do a bit more planning before jumping into things and seeing what I can do. I will be entering the LD 48 hour competition again, and here are my tools!

  • ENGINE – Unity (Likely 2D)
  • ART         – Photoshop
  • IDE          – Visual Studio 2010
  • SFX          – SFXR
  • MUSIC    – GarageBand on my old MacBook

Second Time!

I’m in for the second time with the jam!

I will be using:

Language: Java

Graphics: Paint.NET,  GIMP and Piskel

Music: FL studios or incompetech.com. Depends on how much time I have left. Maybe even Otomata or Abundant Music.

SFX: Might use SFXR if I have time.

I probably won’t be able to work on the last day but still want the relaxed rules!

I’m in! (Hopefully)

This will be my first Ludum dare! My only goal is to finish on time.

My Tools:

Language: Lua (Love2d)

IDE: Notepad++

Sound: Audacity (maybe something else)

Graphics: Gimp

Duh. Of course I’m in.

Art – Gimp

Sound – Audacity/LMMS

Engine – Unity3D

3D art – Blender3D

Language(s) – Javascript and/or C#

Ideas/brainstorming – A marker, some tape, some paper, and my wall. I’m gonna tape paper on the wall and so I have a drawing board. Mostly just because it sounds fun, but also because I brainstorm better if I have a lot of room to do so. Actually, I lied. I’m only doing it because it sounds fun :3

I’m In

I’m in again. Will do my best to complete it this time around.

  • Language: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Framework: Phaser, or from scratch, depending on the theme
  • Graphics: Code generated and Photoshop
  • Sound Effects: Bfxr
  • Music: Fruity Loops

This time for REAL

This time i´m in for REAL, i did not have the chance to participate in 2 ludum dares, but i´ll try to do anything to join this one.

Tools:

Language: HTML5, CSS3, Javascript (Jquery)

Text Editor: Sublime Text

Graphics: Photoshop

Music: FL Studio (maybe)

I’m out…

I’ve managed to take part four times in a row now, but this time it’s a no-go.

It’s a bit of a bummer… but on the upside, the reason I can’t participate is because I’ll be busy lounging around sun drenched tropical beaches this december. So I guess everything weighs itself out.

Anyway, if you’re thinking of taking part and you use LibGDX, I’ve put up the codebase I used last time on GitHub. You can use it if you want to. I’ll probably start adding some more stuff to it in the weeks leading up to LD32, but for now it’s the same stuff I used in LD30.

Good luck to all you jammers out there! And make sure to catch some sleep this time, will ya? :)

Well…

After some thought I decided that I’m in. So this will be my second Ludum Dare. The last time didn’t go as well as I thought, but let’s hope this time it will go better. Also these are the things I’ll use this time, I might change few things on the run, but here they are:

Engine: Unity3D

Code: C#

3D Art: Blender

Images: Photoshop or Paint.NET

Sound: SFXR
