Mike …
sorry, but I think the new look of Ludum Dare is rather bad designed.
1. Posts change color when liked
The red often creates unwanted contrast to the posts content.
Keep in mind that how a color is perceived, depends on the colors around it.
That means in this case, that the color influences how screenshots are perceived.
2. Rounded edges
They conflict with the page scrolling flow.
Clear lines direct the view of the player. When there are rounded edges, the view gets distracted from the scrolling process.
You also cleary exaggerated the rounded edges for buttons and search bar, to still look good in this context.
3. Blue Sidebar
Why? The colors of Ludum Dare as Brand are orange and yellow.
4. Background
Either fully desaturate the color tone you use for the background or use white.
You want to have a very neutral interface, so that it works well along all kind of content from the thousands of Ludum Dare users.
Sorry for the rant, Mike.
You seem to do a great job on the coding, but you don’t seem to be a good designer.
Hi all!
This will be our first LD and we’ll join the Jam, since we are a team of three young titans :). And we are, of course, the most creative when we’re together.
Therefore we’ve decided to enter the competition, armed with our best knowledge, a lot of pizza and beer, and we’ll create as much as we can.
Game engine: Unity
Art: SketchBook Pro, Gimp, InkScape
Music: FL Studio Android
Sound FX: Bfxr, and maybe some recordings by us
The game will be made from scratch using some of our previous code, libs and assets. But we’ll mainly work on something new.
I also made a small site dedicated for our Ludum Dare project: ludumdare.sakergames.com
Where you may check out the progress, screenshots, videos and download the game, when it’s ready.
Cheers, and have fun!
Hey guys!
There was a null image loading issue in the previous version of Yamanu 2. That was just fixed. You can download the library here and the source code here. I will be making a dedicated blog to Yamanu. I’ll let you know when that happens, and when it does, take a look at what I’ve got! I will still post major Yamanu versions here, just in case you don’t want to follow the blog on patches.
See ya!

Greetings!
Ludum Dare #31 will be the first game jame for me and my two friends. As a team, we allready made small games and we are excited to try and make one in 72 hours or less. I’ve nothing else to say
Wish you luck to all of you!
Programing: Visual Basic c# + XNA
Design: Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator
Music: FL Studio
Hey guys!
Alright, this is the last time in a little while that I’ll bug you with this. There is now a website set up where you can view updates to Yamanu. I think you can subscribe via RSS Feed or something. If you’re interested in Yamanu, just keep an eye on the website’s update section. Each post that goes to that means that the download link has been updated with the newest version of Yamanu. Thanks!

After last compo’s thing, I have greatly improved my programming and game making skills. Hopefully, I will get something rather that “0% in Cooness”.
Engine: Construct 2(HTML 5/Javascript)
Art: Paint.net
Music/SFX: FamiTracker and maybe “Music Maker Jam”
Good luck!
Computer specs, if you want to know for some reason.
Edit: I also forgot my Gavitar password and I can’t reset it now
Feel free to follow my gamedev adventures on Twitter
Yeah, ok, Slider was not created for any Ludum Dare, but it certainly contains lots of things I’ve learned creating games for this event (also creating junk that I never posted. Which is precisely why I love Ludum Dare – it’s the perfect bootcamp to try new ideas, mechanics or aesthetics.
The game is simple: keep the grid clear by drawing paths that send your ship towards enemies, scoring up when you slide through them. So it’s back to basics: beat your record, stay alive! But not that easy.
Here’s the launch trailer:
We (we as in the small group I belong to) have just released the game, but we are already considering a few improvements. New board configurations, new enemies, new powerups and game modes. All that given we get a good feedback from players, that is! Otherwise we’ll move on and begin working on a different idea.
So we would love reading your opinion! The game is free (with ads, or paid, without ads) for iOS and Android. Would you try it and write us back?
Hey folks, I’m in again. Last time (LD28, You Only Get One), I finished at the last minute, but had some minor crash bugs on Windows to fix after I had submitted my entry. I’ve cleaned up my cross compiler toolchain a bit this time around, and I’m hoping for zero problems on all platforms this time. I’ll either be using the same custom C++/SDL/OpenGL engine I went with last time, or possibly even a new 3D engine I’m working on in Chicken Scheme. We’ll see: I’ve never done much of anything with 3D before, but I’ve worked enough with OpenGL to understand how it usually does things so it will probably work out. Cheers, and good luck to everyone!
I am already ready for this next Ludum Dare and I can’t wait to get started. Hopefully I can get a working game done this time.
Tools will be:
OS: Windows 7 Professional x64
Platform: Web
Programming: Javascript with Eclipse Luna IDE
Engine: Phaser JS
Audio: Bfxr
Hosting: http://tjxx.itch.io
Fuel: Lots of Coffee
White wine – Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio (not sure which, yet!)
Good luck to everyone!!
Edit: I made up my mind to use the Unity engine in 2D mode which is installed on my Windows machine.
Edit 2: Changed programming language to Javascript, sound engine to Bfxr, and the possibility of using Unity in 3D mode.
Edit 3: Late switch to using the Phaser JS engine in the latest Eclipse IDE instead. Unity is still too much new to me.
I will be entering Ludum Dare 31! (Obviously, otherwise I wouldn’t be doing an “I’m In” post.)
I will be using:
Language: C# or Java
Engine: Unity, or writing a quick one myself in Java.
IDE: MonoDevelop or Eclipse
Asset Creation: Paint.NET, Blender, SFXR
Libraries: Standard Unity libraries, or standard Java libraries and LWJGL
I will also try to do a time lapse, because I find watching game dev time lapses fun.

I’m always eager to take part of the next Ludum Dare, but it’s been quite some time since I’ve felt so hyped about it. Perhaps, since my last two entries are kinda lame, I’ve been looking forward to this next compo to try and make something awesome. Let’s see how things turn out… XDMy weapons, this time around, will be quite different:
I’m still kinda anxious about making a game in C and in 48 hours, but I think it will work out. I developed a simple game together with my framework, and was able to get it to a “complete” state, though it’s missing lots of features. So I probably needn’t worry… It’s definitely going to be fun. =D
I should probably say this: the framework is still in development. I still gotta make my wrapper for keyboard and controller input, for example. Also, it’s highly uncommented…There are many functions with explanations about its behaviour and expected parameters, but there quite some that I later modified and haven’t fixed its comments, yet. Errors are also really long and stupid… I’ve gotta fix that… If I do get to refactor it someday, I’ll also properly document it.Good luck to you all, and let’s all have a great time making games!
Had a blast during LD30 and I’m in for LD31
I’ll be using:
Language: Java
IDE: Eclipse
Asset Creation: BFXR, Fireworks, Photoshop, FL Studio, and Tiled (though it depends on the theme)
Libraries: libGDX
And I might use a physics engine that I’ve been working on, but it’ll depend on what I come up with, and what the theme is.
Good Luck Everyone!
I guess this is my official announcement that I’ll be joining Ludum Dare 31! It’ll be hard and probably not very productive, but I stand to learn a lot! 😀
Caught me off guard. I won’t be competing, but I might make some assets for those in the jam.
Alright, here it goes. I’m in for this LD48! For the first time in my life. I wanted to do this long ago, but I didn’t know how to make games. I still don’t. But at least now I have balls to participate (hopefully).
Going straight for the Compo!
My background:
– Few years of web programming,
– 1.5 years of Java,
– 1 year of C++
What am I going to use:
– C++
– My engine (OpenGL rendering + OpenAL for audio)
– Maybe GLEW
– Notepad++
– Paint.NET and/or Gimp
– Codehead’s bitmap font generator (CBFG)
– Didn’t think about how to make sound effects yet. Any suggestions?
By the way, the rules say that “If you’re using an internal library, to participate in the Compo, you will be required to share it”.
Does it mean sharing the source of the library, or I can just put a DLL into the folder and be fine?
Thanks and good luck everyone!

Both me(Justin) and my brother Nathan are in!
In the past I have submitted games in XNA, but the past year I have been learning Unity.
Here are our tools:
Engine – Unity2D
Code – Visual Studio
Art – Inkscape
Sound – Record our own or SFXR, FreeSound.Org, or wherever we can find stuff
Music – Darkwave Studio
Good luck to everyone!
