In For LD31
We are in for #LD31. Not sure if I will be doing Compo, or doing Jam with the Family. Game time decision depending on the Theme I think.

This is going to be my first Ludum Dare. I planned to prepare a month ago but I slacked and I have like a week or so to get my Java back in shape.
The Plan: Finish a game. Lol.
Weapons of choice: Java, Libgdx most likely if I manage to pick up enough info to start something with it.
Graphics: Not sure I will even get here but I guess I will manage with some royalty free stuff.
Music: Again not sure if I will be able to finish a game but if I get to this I will go with random generated music from some site or royalty free songs.
. Thanks for letting me know!I´m looking to team up for my second Ludum Dare! Contact me to my email at nilkki1@hotmail.com if you need SFX!
First timer here, I hope we all will have a wonderful time
Oh and the traditional “I’m in!”
For me it’ll be the third LD in a row and I’m very excited what kind of experience this LD will be. As usually I’ll enter the 48 hour Compo.
My tools of choice are:
– Unity
– Cinema4D and Blender (Yes both!)
– Photoshop and Gimp (Yes both!)
– Audacity
WHAT I NEED!
I need a background music generator. I’m not a musician so it has to be quit noob friendly. 😉 Recommendations are welcome! (Please leave a comment.)
Plans for LD #31:
Especially after LD #30 I experienced some flaws in my workflow. Now I’m more experienced than ever 😉 I’ll try a different aproach of developing a game. I usually finished my games in the last minutes of the 48 hour timeframe. This happened because I worked on less important before finishing the core gameplay. For example last LD I created a space transport tycoonish game but before I finished the actual transporting, buying and selling features I had 😡 to create a techntree for different kind of cargo space ships. A feature that’s a nice thing to have but in a 48 hour timeframe it would have been better to optimize the realy necessary elements. Things that would improve the overall gameplay. So this time I’d like to plan more ahead and not only make a list of ideas. After my planing phase I would like to have an execution/production order sorted by relevance for the game. With such a plan in my hand the core gamplay elements would be much earlier playable and testable (is this a word? :?) and if I don’t have enough time to finish all features I’ll have a playable core game.
If you have any tips, tricks and ideas to improve my workflow please tell me!
So good luck to everyone!
obligatory text about what I am using:
unity. photoshop. logic. Microkorg.
obligatory statement about what I plan to do:
make a game.
obligatory statement about how many ludum dares i’ve been in:
one, but I actually did pretty well.
obligatory end statement about how excited I am.
I am so excited guys!
obligatory picture of a dolphin and a cow swimming and being best friends:
Okay. maybe the picture of the cow and dolphin isn’t obligitory. but it is definitely awesome.
After using the word obligitory so many times, it has become very weird for me. I know longer understand its meaning, it sort of just floats there amongst the other words. Come back to me obligitory.
Weird.

Is it ok to use picture of Mona Lisa in my game during LD? Or should I paint here myself if I want to use her?

I’ve made a new wallpaper for Ludum Dare 31 – feel free to use it! I remembered my first Ludum Dare I felt like participating was like being confronted with a insurmountable mountain, and afterwards I felt like I was on top of that mountain
Just click through to the 1920×1080 version!

I had to skip the last Ludum Dare but I am back for number 31. This is going to be my fifth LD.
I’m going to use one of these hip frameworks and not pure JavaScript this time for the sake of development speed.
Editor: Sublime Text 2
Language: Haxe
Framework: OpenFL, may with Haxepunk
Graphics: Gimp, Inkscape
Sound: bxfr, LMMS, MilkyTracker, whatever I can find
If I need some server-sided backend, I’ll use PHP. 😉
It’s been a couple jams since I last participated, but I’ve since been busy!
I’ve been playing around with LibGDX, and I recently participated in Codeday Portland 2014 with a group of friends. We might be participating as a team in the Jam this year, but that depends on whether or not we can get it together in time. If you’re interested, our project is hosted at https://www.github.com/TTSpaxxy/Codeday. It’s a Black Friday-themed tower defense game. It’s pretty unfinished, but we had a lot of fun making it.
Even if it falls though, however, I plan on participating anyway.
My tools of the trade (Not counting whatever the rest of the team plans on using):
IntelliJ IDEA
LibGDX (And whatever modules I see fit to use)
GIMP
sfxr
stuff
things
…
Whatever happens, I’m really looking forward to this year’s competition!
Hey guys!
Yamanu 2.1 is being released! This time, with documentation! I added the 3D code from Yamanu 1 to Yamanu 2, so that’s there now. There’s also a really cool Source class, that is almost like a very basic language. You can run commands that set and get different things, much easier than if you were to try and get them yourself. You can also type commands into files, and run whole files. There’s not much there yet, but there will be! I think this is going to be the last release before LD31. I hope some people use it! If you do, you do not HAVE to credit Yamanu or myself, but I would appreciate it very much! Everything can be downloaded and viewed from http://yamanu.techpandainc.com, so go check it out!
Good luck guys, and have a great day!

Tired of taking 3 minutes to setting up a Java environment for when you start a new project? This small tool generates the build script, manifest file, and file folders.
lol jk
Language > Java
Art > Paint.net
Audio > sfxr & I don’t know what for music

The kind of game I’m going to make during the compo is an adventure game like A Links Awakening, I’ll have to mold the theme around that.
I’m going to use Unity to do this again.
I made a 3D action puzzler in LD30 compo. Now I have been working on that project for 2 months.
The game-in-dev is being constantly updated on my Kongregate page to collect player feedback.
I would be grateful if you could have a play with it. Also if possible, leave some comment or just give a rate. 😀
Hi there! If everything goes according to plan I am going to be a part of Ludum Dare for the second time very soon.
The plan is to do things differently this time! And I mean like seriously, start with the music, maybe do some actual drawing instead of pixel art, sleep less, drink less… Of course this might drive me to a suicide but hey, no risk – no fun.
Then again my weapon of choice is Ruby with gosu gem.
Also, if you rememember Hot and Cold – you’re awesome and I love you.
This is my first LD (and first post, so I’m told an “I’m in” is appropriate). These past few months I’ve been doing a lot of porting with the ENIGMA game engine, so I’ll be using that for my submission. I’ll link to my Github fork, which has minor code fixes:
https://github.com/sorlok/enigma-dev
Graphics will mostly likely be done in the GIMP, and I’m still playing around with options for sound.
Good luck to everyone! Looking forward to this!
Third Ludum Dare in a row! I will be using Unity 4.5 (probably 2d), paint.net for the art and sfxr for sound (maybe)
Hey, guys. I’m doing a presentation, live on Twitch.tv, called Make it Juicy: Easy Ways To Make Your Game More Engaging on Tuesday, December 2nd, 7:00 PM EST. I’ll be discussing about techniques I use to improve the game feel. The presentation will be about an hour long, and I’ll have a chat-based Q & A at the end. See you there!
My wife has agreed to do most of the baby care that weekend so I can try this out. <3
Language / Engine: GameMaker or Haxe, or C#. I think GameMaker may be the easy way to go with it being my first time on a time limit.
Sound: SFXR or BFXR
Graphics: Paint.NET or Gimp
