LD31 December 5–8, 2014

I’m in, Come on and slam and welcome to the Jam

Platofrm – Web

Language – Dart

Graphics – Horrific programmer art made in GIMP, OH GOD MY EYES, NOT THE EYES

Sound – Sfxr

Music – MilkyTracker or something

This is my first LD, but I’ve watched other developers taking part many times before, now it’s mine turn.

We are in!

We are two people cooperating to do the Jam thing (It’s our first one, too, and it’s a shame you can’t work as a team for the compo :( ). Here’s the tools at our disposal of which we may use all, some or almost none:

Graphics: GIMP, Blender, Inkscape

Programming: C/C++

Sound/Music: still needs to be figured out…

There might be a stream of the programming and (less likely) of the art, as our programmer has the more powerful PC and is hogging it.

Cheers!

I’m in

So this will be my 2nd Ludum Dare. I took part in LD30 with a couple of friends under the team name The Lag Pack and made out first attempt at a game called Escape Earth. However, since then I have been learning to use Flash and Action Script 3, so I’m wanting to test out my new Flash skills and will therefor be entering solo this time.

Software:

Graphics: Photoshop CC + Flash CC

Programming: Flash CC / AS3

Coming for the jam!

Hi !

After missing out on two LDs I’m happy to announce that we’re back for our second jam!

I’m currently gathering the team, working again with some of the great talents that brought you Save Octavius on LD 29 and introducing new ones :-)

On the technical side of things we will be switching from Haxe to Unity/C# as our development tool, thus becoming much more efficient (well, I hope so!).

Good luck everyone and have fun participating in LD 31!

Martin

I’m in for my first Ludum Dare Compo

I’m in for my first Ludum Dare Compo, so don’t expect too much.

Language / Engine: Unity (which I don’t know very well as of yet, but I’m sure I will know how to use it a lot better by the end of Ludum Dare)

Sound: SFXR

Graphics: GIMP

I’m in, for the first time!

This is my first LD, also the first time I try to make and finish a game, so I’ll participate in the jam.

Graphics: InkScape

Sound: I’ll try to  record stuff I have lying around for the sound effects, also would love to make some music, but I’m not sure I’ll have the time.

Programming: Javascript/HTML5 (Phaser)

Gift Wallpaper

Saw that people were making wallpapers again so I thought I’d make one. It’s pretty simple but not half bad.

A wallpaper made by myself, @CNIAngel

I’m in and looking for a partner!

I was quite happy to have finished a game last LD, and on top of that even placed very close to the top 100. I’d like to go again and this time I’m going to get top 100!

With that said I’m looking for another art buddy to jam with me this time around. If you’re interested in tackling this with me then hit me up here or on Twitter @deadpxlsociety!

If I don’t get any bites I’ll still try it on my own, but I don’t have much hope for that.

I am also looking for a jam partner, what are your skills? By the link to your game I can see that you were the programmer last time, but can you also do art? Anyway, I am an experienced unity c# programmer, and I am also aiming for top 100.

Need someone to make music?

I’m in (for school?) (repost)

(This is a repost, because I absolutely need to find another programmer and because the first post wasn’t clear enough I suppose)

I’m in for Ludum Dare 31, for school purposes!

I must participate in the jam competition so I must find a programmer with a lot of experience in game programming (it’s for an internship).

My school project is really simple. Well, my teacher wanted us to explore the job we want to do later, since I want to be game programmer, and there was no game companies in Montreal that would offer an internship for one day, I decided to do the Ludum Dare, and she let me do the Ludum Dare, as long as I find another programmer which has more experience than me. For my experience with programming, I’ve been doing it for 1 year and a half, it’s not much, but I learn fast. This would be my third Ludum Dare, So yeah. The language that I’m the most comfortable with is JavaScript, so that’s why I would do this one with the Phaser game framework, but for this one I want to try something new. I’m gonna try to do it in TypeScript or with Unity, depending on theme, or I will program in the language the programmer uses. So yeah, I hope I will find a programmer, and if you are not a programmer, you are still welcome :)

Here are the tools that I will be using:

I’m also thinking about streaming and/or making a timelapse for my YouTube channel :)

I hope I’ll find another programmer because this is really important for my school project!

Otherwise, if you are interested in participating in my team, feel free to comment this post, I’ll give you a way to contact me via Skype or something else.  :)

Good luck to everyone participating 😀

I saw you mentioned that no companies would give you a one day internship, but did you approach it as an internship where you would need to actually work for the company (which is not likely) or as a job shadow where you would sit down with a person in the job and observe and question them about their job.

hi, i’m in.

This time around, i haven’t decided yet, i’m either using:

ENGINE:

Flashpunk/as3, with flashdevelop and air/sdk. -Chevy Ray is responsible for flashpunk! thanks Chevy! (good luck with your unity stuff)

SOUND:

audacity, sounds by (me)!

IMAGES:

paint.net is still my favorite pixel editor.

CODEXUS:

tile editor by tyler moltz. Thanks tyler!

preloader/button(if i need it) by noel berry. gl noel!

NOTES:

notepad++;using chronolapse for timelapse; If you have interest in me streaming, ask. :-) i will definitely timelapse. 😀

or:

ENGINE and IDE:

c++/sdl2/visualstudio2013express

SOUND:

audacity, sounds by (me)!

IMAGES:

paint.net is still my favorite pixel editor.

CODEXUS:

if this is the route i take i’ll be using the libraries extensions, mixer, image, ttf, foo.productions tile editor, and other bits from his tuts. I’m brand new at c++ so, not sure yet on this.

NOTES:

notepad++;using chronolapse for timelapse; If you have interest in me streaming, ask. :-) i will definitely timelapse. 😀

C++, good learning experience!

A concept for the traditional “I’m in!” post

I’m not going to post a “I’m in!” post yet, but decided to write a short concept what I’m going to say when the time comes.

First, I would probably tell you about my programming language and IDE. I think I would answer Html5/Javascript and Eclipse, but it’s possible I will go nuts this time and use C++. Or maybe I’ll make an Html5 game in C++ using emscripten! Or maybe not…

Or maybe I should start my “I’m in!” post by saying which OS I’m going to use. It’s not Windows, because using it makes me want to cut my toes with a rusty chainsaw. Instead I’m going to use Xubuntu… like last time. Or maybe also Linux Mint (xfce edition, of course), if I decide to use my laptop for some un0bvious reason.

Then I’ll probably tell all the other tools I’m going to use. Pinta and GIMP for graphics. AudaCity, bfxr and ButtonBass online tools for audio. Gedit as my text editor (you always need a text editor, even though you are using an IDE). Chromium and Firefox for debugging. I don’t think I need anything else.

In the very last lines of my upcoming “I’m in!” I’m going to say something like “Good luck for you all!”, “I hope you all win (no I don’t)!”, “Let’s conquer the world with our crappy games!” or “I’m going to beat you all! And I’m not talking about game making!”. Yeah, an idiotic sentence is a good way to end a post.

Yep, that kind of “I’m in!” post I’m going to make this time. I know you cannot wait, but be patient! It won’t help, but at least it will make you insane.

How do i make background music?

I’d love to be in this LD but it’s really bad timing for me, but I am in a game making class at the moment and i’m having a real issue finding non-copyrighted music to use for a project. I’d be happy to make it, but I have about 0 experience making music.

Could someone suggest a quick and easy app for making generic placeholder music for a game? That’s really all I need for this.

Check out autotracker.py

I am in!

This is going to be fun!

It’s my… Sixth? I think… Ludum Dare for me. Holy shit.

I’m still bitter about wasting the last ludum dare, I loved the theme and yet I wasn’t able to complete anything. Shit sucks. Oh well, hopefully this time around I will be able to make something playable.

Check out my past LD games if you want!

———-

Tools:

JS as language and HTML5 as framework if I go for a game

RenPy if I go for a visual novel

Emacs as editor

Paint.net/Krita/MyPaint/Inkscape for graphics, depending if I go for pixel art, traditional or vector

jfxr and Audacity for music/sounds

———-

Hopefully I won’t get much sleep and have tons of fun! See you in 9 days.

I’m in for MiniLD 55

Newb-In!

Hey guys! This will be my first time trying out Ludum Dare! I plan on working alone, aiming for LD48, with:

This is exciting!

I’m in

I’ve never participated in a game jam before. I’m going to use javascript canvas (just finished coding up a little game engine), and all of my art is going to be very much programmer art. If anybody wants to collaborate with me on the artistic parts of my entry (sound, music, art, design if you want), email me at djmadeira at me dot com.

We are in!

Greatings, mortals!

We are team of 4 funny guys. Trying our best.

Editor: Unity 4.6

Language: C#

Graphics: Photoshop, SAI

Modeling: Blender

Sounds and Music: Audacity, Cubase, Fruity Loops

I made a wallpaper too

ld31 wallpaper

because it’s the day before a holiday and I didn’t feel like doing anything at work today. And also – because everyone else is doing it!  :)

I guess I am.. Scratch that last one

You may or may not have noticed my post out of the many new guys showing up here. The difference was that I was way in over my head now that I see the pile of stuff I have yet to learn. I have missed stuff in java like recursion ( oh boy am I having fun with that one .. still trying to wrap my head around it), apparently I have to learn something called hasmaps from my java book and a ton more stuff. So I guess ludum dare 31 may be a no go now that I see I can’t even finish my java studies for this last week let alone start getting the hang of libgdx. I hate to miss all the fun but I will be observing the contenders and I will be taking notes lol.

Best of luck to all the participants in this edition of ludum dare! I hope I can join you all on the next one!

Don’t worry about learning all that stuff

Recursion isn’t really important in a video game unless you’re really making something advanced and I have no idea what a hashmap is, so it couldn’t be that important 😛

Start learning libGDX, or learn JSFML ’cause that’s super easy :3 You’ll be able to make games in time (I hope)

Good luck with everything! 😀

I’m in! 3rd jam

Hey LD, long time no see. My last run at the jam didn’t go so well this past summer, but ever since my first jam last February 2013 I can’t help but give it a shot. :)
