LD31 December 5–8, 2014

A little game for christmas

Awaiting the starts of #LD31 we create a game for Christmas in live and this has to last 3 hour and 30 minutes.

Here’s Christmas’s Canon :

sc0 sc01

It will be avaible in the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store.

Finally decided

I said last week that I was going to participate in Ludum dare 31, my third Ludum dare. Now I have decided which tools to use. Here is the list:

Language/IDE: C++ / CodeBlocks

Engine: SchoolEngine, an engine that I have created with OpenGL and SDL.

Graphics: Paint.net & Gimp

Sound: BFXR

Music: Abundant Music & Audacity

That is everything I think. Good luck everybody! 😀

I took a look to your SchoolEngine, looks preety nice, simple and low level, how I like them to be :) shame I dont use C++.. :)

Plan of Attack

Grrr… I’m pumped. It’s too early to do any real work, but I’ve been thinking about my flow of work in the last Ludum Dare and I’m mentally divvying up the weekend.

Four broad phases of development:

  • Ideation
  • Proof of Concept
  • Expansion
  • Stabilization

Ideation is about dreaming it up. Given the theme, what do I want to make, how can I make it, is it realistic? Lots of brainstorming, leading to lots of design.

Proof of Concept is implementing the idea to where it’s playable. It’ll be small, coarse, and clunky, but the question is: is it fun? If not, how to get it there?

Expansion is taking the Proof of Concept and making it a (more) polished, 10+ minute experience.

Stabilization is the concluding phase. Testing. Fixing bugs. Polishing. Making sure it’s downloadable and working.

How long should each phase take? Well my schedule is kind of crazy this weekend.

Friday 8–10pm: Ideation

10pm–early: Proof of Concept

Saturday 8am–late (with a break in the middle to attend my daughter’s Christmas piano recital): Expansion

Sunday lunchtime–5pm: Stabilization

Giving me a buffer of three hours. Last time I got done too early—like, by 3pm—and was twiddling my thumbs waiting for 8pm. I’m not sure that’s a problem I want to fix, but I’m not planning to get done that early this year. My new engine needs debugging on Emscripten, so I’ll have my hands full in the final hours.

Pumped.

I am in

Sooo back again.

First of all: Thank You!
Last time i´ve developed “The Social Network” and since then it has been played over 850 times! Your guys are really awesome.

This time my used gear hasn´t really changed:

Engine:
– Unity 4.6 (No Beta any more)

Languages:
– C# for game
– PHP for highscores and anything else I wanna collect

IDE:
– Visual Studio 2013 for C#
– Eclipse Luna with PHP plugin for PHP (obvious)

Others:
– Openbroadcaster for Timelapse
– BPlaced for web hosting
– Playdot.co for publishing

PC:
– Desktop PC
– Windows 10 Technical Preview
– Amd Bulldozer Fx-8120 8 Core 3.10 GHz
– 8 GB DDR3 RAM
– NVidia GeForce GTX 470 SuperOverclocked

Personally I hope theme will not be Snowman. There are better ones

Jump In !

Wow, Jump in the 2nd time! Have fun everybody!

I have no idea if I should even post this

A few days (or weeks) back, I made a post saying I was in and what software I’d be using; I just did it because everyone else was doing it and I was unsure whether I needed to make a post to enter or not. Anyway, since then, I’ve changed my mind about the software I’ll be using and, since I’m unsure if I need to announce what software I’m using or not, I’ll just re-announce everything:

Engine: GameMaker Studio

Music: Fruity Loops Studio

Audio: Fl studio and SFXr

Graphics: GameMaker sprite editor, Paint.net, and SPArtAn

Now I don’t have to worry anymore!

You don’t have to announce your tools, it’s just a good tradition.

Totally going to be doing this. Whether I am doing the compo or jam depends on whether or not I need more time.

Also, tool/framework declarations: if I decide on Phaser or Three.js I will likely use the following starters respectively:

Phaser Starter

Three.js Starter
I might also use the Unity Pro trial. We shall see.

I’m in

Hi there!

Language: C++, my base code can be found here.

IDE: Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition.

Libraries: FLTK, OpenGL, OpenAL, mpg123.

For GFX: MSPaint, Gimp.

For SFX: PXTone, sfxr/Bfxr.

Dunno what to do with the unicode snowman

#LD31 Guess who is in ? Nuuup !

‘Sup.

I decided to join in the madness of Ludum Dare… today. Yes, every freakin’ year from now ( possibly ), I will participate. I joined in the madness today. I might as well join the madness some other times, like I previously stated. I might not spend too much time writing this, since I will be making a game made with a game library. I will not waste my fingers writing this, BUT, I will probably waste my finger power writing the whole game from scratch. It will be one hell of a challenge. As least for me it is.

I’m In!

My first LD, so I want to at least get a game out there.  Not hugely fussed about how well it does, though, because I’m pretty new to gamedev and just finishing a game would be enough for me.

We’re In

This is our first game jam. We’re a team of three.

We’ll be using:

  1. Unity3D 4.6 Pro (thanks to Unity and LD)
  2. Visual Studio 2013 Professional
  3. Photoshop
  4. 3DS Max/Maya
  5. Audition

First try at LD

So, first time trying out LD. Only done a couple of small projects before, never finished one. 😛
Will give this a try!

Will be using:

Unity
GraphicsGale
Something for sound! ^^

Um.. yep

GL HF

Hey, First Time Doing Ludum Dare!

So, this will be the first time to do Ludum Dare! I’ve been meaning to try this for a while, but never managed to due to time constraints and the fact that I kept arguing with myself over what tech to use. Also, I was wondering if I actually have the ability to finish a game properly, with UI and all that. This time, I have enough time to make a game, I already chose a nice framework that will allow easy deployment (Java with LibGDX), and I’ve already made a game using it so I have some experience under my belt! I can’t wait to get started!

“I’m in III”, or “It’s been a long, long time”

Hello again! Its been 2 years since my last participation but I’m back on trak! I hope I’m not too rusty.

These are the tools I plan on using:

  • Processing for coding
  • iNudge or Famitracker for BGM (if I have time to do it)
  • bfxr for sound effects
  • Photoshop and/or Illustrator for graphics
  • Tiled for level design, if any.

Depending on the game genre, I might re-use some of my tilemap collision code, based on Emanuele Feronato’s tutorial. Besides that, I should code everything else on the go.

Good luck, everyone!

Hear me rawr.

I’m in~

IDE: urxvt + bash + vim

Language: C++ (unless I lose my marbles and use C)

Libraries: SDL2, SDL2_image, SDL2_mixer, OpenGL

Graphics: GIMP, Aseprite, (Inkscape?), potentially Blender if 3D is decided on.

Audio/Music: LMMS + KORG Kaossilator Pro (probably)

Version Control: git, unless I get lazy and just tarball it.

Desktop recording: ffmpeg -f x11grab -follow_mouse 428 -draw_mouse 1 -r 1 -video_size 1280×720 -i :0.0 -vcodec libx264 -preset ultrafast -qp 0 `date +%Y-%m-%d-%s`.mkv

Have fun everyone! :]
