Welcome, and good luck! ^_^

Wait for me!

First Ludum Dare!
Time to be overwhelmed!
I’ll be using Unity3D!
As well as Paint.net, BFXR and Blender!

Exciting!

I’m in: first LD, first game

First time participating in LD, and so far the first game I will ever release.

My tools:

Language: Haxe
Engine: Luxe Engine (http://luxeengine.com/)
Code Editor: Atom Editor (with the Haxe plugin I worked on with the Snowkit community)
Graphics: Affinity Designer, Pixelmator
Audio: Logic Pro X, Amadeus Pro

Very excited about making new graphics, music and, of course, a game!

I’m in, with a question!

This is my first Ludum Dare. I’m planning on using Unity, Blender, Gimp, Audacity, and sfxr.

I have a question about the rules. Since I’m going to be working in 3D, I’m going to need textures to make materials. Normally, I get textures from the internet (mainly cgtextures.com). Am I allowed to do that for the compo? Or if I join the Jam, would I need to opt-out of the Graphics rankings?

For the most part, I think this would fall under the “derivative works” exception, but the following situation seem deep in the grey area:

Suppose I want a dirt texture to use as the ground. I go to cgtextures, find a tileable dirt texture, download it, and use it for my dirt material. Is this ok to do and still stay in the Graphics rankings?

Thanks in advanced for any feedback here!

Ultimately the rules are enforced by each participants sense of personal honor. I would join the Jam if your are worried about using textures you didn’t make. When I make textures I often work off a base image and use the rubber stamp tool. I consider this enough modification to count as a new image, but taking a pre-existing art asset (especially one you didn’t make) and incorporating it into your game sounds like Jam territory.

I´m in!

I was at Mini-LD #56 and made the game Odoyá Yemanjá, but this is my first real LD.

  • Engine: Unity 3D
  • Language: C#
  • Art: Photoshop
  • Sound: bfxr
  • Music: Incredibox

Iam in!

I know everybody recommends not making your first game on ludum dare, also absolutely not making an engine, but i have the time, and i will do it. My only goal in this thing is making a platformer on my engine.

This is what i will use:
Language: haxe
Engine: Snow
IDE: sublime text.
Graphics: Photoshop.

I’m in!

I’ll use C++ with SDL at my first Ludum Dare. Let’s code!

Attempt #2

This is my second attempt at Ludum Dare. I failed in Ludum Dare #30 because my game concept was far too ambitious. In hindsight I definitely accomplished a lot for 48 hours, but I wasn’t anywhere near a playable demo by the end of it. This time I will make sure I start with a much simpler concept to ensure that I finish in time.

Also, I’ve decided to switch from C#/Unity to LUA/Love2D because development in Love2D is a bit faster.

Language: Lua
Framework: Love2D
IDE: ZeroBrane Studio

I’m in!

First time participating in Ludam Dare! Junior at Hendrix College ready to put my knowledge from this semester to the test.

Will be streaming to Twitch as [aCondor]!

Engine: Unity
IDE: Sadly… MonoDevelop :(
Graphics: Photoshop, Inkscape, Pixlr, CrazyBump
Audio: Logic Pro X, BFXR

Im In!

Been deving for 4 years now but never tried a game jam, i’m pumped :)

See ya in the voting area ];)

I’m in! LD #32

Yay. So this’ll be my third Ludum Dare, and with luck my second successful Ludum Dare.

I shall be using either WebGL or Unity3D, honestly depending on how I feel when I start! (as well as: bxfr / paint.net / (sublime text 2 / node.js) || (Visual Studio Community))

I’ll be aiming for a 2D game, with as inspired by the key note something a bit different, which for me is more of a focus on art / visuals than I normally take. Soo that’ll be some focus on art / visuals rather than just geometric shapes.

If I use WebGL I’ll be using my engine/framework which has been up on github for quite a while, if not given much love recently https://github.com/delphic/Fury. It’s not much more than an organised bunch of helper functions and state rebinding minimisation at the moment, still this should be fine for just rendering unlit sprites!

Being in the UK and fond of sleep I’ll not be starting until several hours in when I get up at a relatively normal time, so I’ll likely work under a blog / twitter blackout so I don’t get demoralised by much further ahead all those who start on time are (and / or just how much better people’s ideas tend to be).

Good luck and have fun everyone!

I’m in

Third time in the Ludum Dare, and alone again in the 48 hours compo.

My tools are the same than the last time:

  • Code: Game Maker Studio
  • Pixel Art: Aseprite, GraphicsGale & Photoshop
  • Music: Royalty Free track from Incompetech.com
  • SFXs: Bfxr
  • Timelapse Capture: Chronolapse

I’ll to do my best. At least better than the last time. Good luck to everyone :-)

Good luck with your game! Music should also be created in 48h though.

I’m in… …again!

Just over 24h left until Ludum Dare starts, but as the saying goes “better late than never”, I’m posting my “I’, in!” post here and now!

It will be the 2:nd time for me and I’m really looking forward to it! Also i want to thank all those that gave me feedback on my last game and all other people that i talked with during the event.

Hope this will be as fun (hopefully even more) than last time and I dare you! I dubble dare you! I ludum dare you and wish you best of luck!

/frokes

P.S. Psst….! I will be steaming on http://www.twitch.tv/frokes_ D.S

I’m in!

I’m looking to actually finish a game this time, and seeing as how I actually have the weekend off from work this go around, I should be able to meet my goals.

I’m going to try and use Unity this time (with C# for scripting), but since I’m not really confident in using it I may regress to my default of Game Maker Studio. I’ll do my best not to though :)

Music/Sounds: Audacity, As3sfxr

Graphics: Paint.net or Game Maker Studio Graphics editor

I can use the keyboard again IM IN!

I was not sure to be in this edition of ludum dare because I was recovering from carpal tunnel operation but today the doctor tell me that I can go back to work and use my hands !

To avoid RSI remember to take breaks (a program like workrave or timedoser can help), be in a proper posture, use dvorak key distribution !

maybe this time im  going to be in the jam with a team, im going to meet people from my area in the local event “ludum dare Primavera”

Good luck to everyone!!!

There’s still not much scientific, well-grounded evidence on whether QUERTY or DVORAK is better.

i was talking by my persona experience i fell better with dvorak, and is make thinking in better typing not in solve some problems with the machine itself…

Third Time’s a Charm

Hello fellow LDers,

This will be my third Dare, having done #30 and #31 before. Check out my earlier entries if you haven’t already. I recently released a new post-compo version of WORLDS (#30).

I am using most of the same tools as last time, though the custom library I am using is more sophisticated than last time, and I am going to try to use Tiled or Tile Studio if I decide to make a tile-based game.

As with my previous attempts, I’ve been going through the list of final themes and coming up with ideas for each one. I must admit I am not as enthused about the options this time around (but at least there’s no Snowman :)).

Tools:

Notepad++/Sublime Text 3 (edit in sublime, run from notepad)

Lua/LOVE engine

LOVE helper libraries

Custom physics/graphics libraries – LoveTemplate

Tiled/Tile Studio (if a tile-based game)

Inkscape/Photoshop/Paint.NET

Bfxr/Audacity

CgMusic/Ableton Live 6.0.1 (bundled version)

I’m in

Only posting here cos the knowledgeable person on reddit said it is required.

First LD. Second game jam of any variety. First attempt at using haxeflixel.

Bad Programmer gfx: aseprite and ogmo

Bad Programmer audio: sfxr & sunvox

Didn’t think I would be able to participate this weekend but my schedule cleared up so I’m doing the Jam!

Team: I’ll be making the game and a group of friends will be playing and testing.

Engine: Gamemaker

Music: Finale Songwriter

Art: Either stuff that I find online or horrible paint.net artwork. I’m not an artist and I don’t have friends who are artists.
