I would love to get some more feedback on my game, and I’m hoping to reach at least 50 by the end of today. I will play and rate yours in return, if I haven’t already done so.
Excited about the results tomorrow!

THE POST MORTEM:
What went well:
What I need to improve:
Square Peg Round Hole – Plans:
I will do a couple of additions to the game after the results are in. I want to add a High Score to the game, as well as do some balancing. There’s a little too much luck involved, rather than strategy.
My plan is to make it so it is more likely that you get the more useful cards (those that can be played on any peg, or at least those that only require a specific color or shape). The cards that require both a specific shape and color are way too prominent, and very hard to get an opportunity to play. I may also make it so that cards can be played on the blocks as well as the pegs, which gives you more opportunities to change things up. I’ll have to see where the balance ends up… because the game still needs to be challenging. What I want is for the player to feel like they have options, though, at all times. No more half-heartedly waiting for the timer to run out and take the hit – hoping that the new batch of pegs will match what you need.
Also – I need to do something about that awful tutorial!
After that, I believe this will be the end of this game. It will remain on itch.io as a free-to-play game. I doubt that there’s a market for sales for this type of game. It is more the kind of game that you can play when you got 15 minutes to kill before you go somewhere, or something. I have considered a mobile version of it, and there might be a small market for sales there… but would also require more work to make it compatible.
End Notes:
I am very pleased with the whole experience so far this Ludum Dare. I’m learning a lot, and I’m getting invaluable experience. I can’t wait for the next one, and hopefully I’ll be able to make an even better game next time.
Thank You to all who have commented and given constructive criticism on my game. I am one of those who genuinely appreciate it when you do. If you don’t like something, please let me know – but make sure you explain WHY you don’t like it, and HOW you think it could’ve been improved. Some things come down to personal taste, while other things are just plain ol’ right or wrong. I learned my mistake about the tutorial from the comments. Many have been confused as they start playing, but seem to generally like it when they start to understand what they are doing. That right there – that’s a situation where I was unquestionably in the wrong at how I did the tutorial. Lesson learned!
Keep voting! Keep playing!
…and most of all – Keep Having FUN!
Hey,
Levch is here. Suggest your games in a chat and I’ll play, rate and give you fair critics! This is the last stream for LD35.

Best,
Team BSOD.
Only few hours to end the voting round and finally managed to achieve just 200 votes but Liborio only gets 97 votes. Help us to reach 100!. 😀

It was our first Ludum Dare and it was a pleasure from the very beginning.
It’s great to see such a lifely community, so many creatives people !
We have spent a lot of time to test games, and i’ve to say that browsers games are a bless for this kind of event !
Some time it was really complex to download the game or install it, install additional strange library to be able to run it… and when finaly it crash after 30 sec in the game it’s hard to really enjoy the experience….
On 400 games that we have tested it was really hard to make a choice, and because we are a team it was even harder !
There are so many different style of games, graphics and mood… Many finish or almost finish games, some absolutely not but with great mechanics, graphics or music… It’s truly amazing
We had a lot of disussions about why “this” is a genius gameplay, or “this” is a crappy design…. eachone defending his champion ^^
Finaly we agreed on a top 3.
This one is just truly great on every points. Very tatsy graphics with great simple but very polished style and well working 3D even in browser mode or small configs. The music is perfect (just should not restart every time you die). I cant take it out of my mind, singing it in the morning or in the street ^^ The gameplay is also very tight and after a few minutes of practice the game is pure pleasure. Crusin’ in the desert on our lowrider is really smooth and get ride of the ennemies dodging a rock at the last moment become so natural and tricky.
The shapeshifting in diferent animals form is also very funny and clever. It offers many variations on the gameplay. The eagle stay my favorite
You can really feel a real achievement playing this one and we really hope it will turn on a “real” game with a little more graphics environements and musics.
It’s the freshest thing we have tasted since a long time !
This is the greatest gameplay and innovation that we have tested in this Jam. It’s a great puzzle game with clever and full working mechanics. It fits absolutely to the theme and the graphics are such lovely. Very clean work, except for the backgrounds with this strange anti-analiasing on big pixels effect….
Everything make you feel like it’s a finshed game, great graphics, nice music, many levels and this amazing and perfectly polished idea of gameplay.
If you want to support them, its already on greenlight and we think it will be a great sucess on android and ios too !
We wish them all the good that they diserve!
This one is less polished than the two first places or than many games in the jam but it offers you one of the greatest experience !
In our team we are all quiet big fans of the Carpenter’s movie “The Thing”. And this game is the dream game of this movie !
The gameplay is very simple and work perfectly, same for the pixel art and music, very minimal but 100% working. The mood is dark as hell. If you enjoyed splinter cell or metalgear solid… forget it, you wanna be this black hungry shadow !
The Ai should be a little more complex to make the game replayable to infinity.
Great, Great , Super, Good Game !
Here are some other good games :
Do-od is a great casual game with a super concept, plenty of levels and really great graphics. A must play !
Pluto’s Tears is an astonishing polished game with wonderful graphics and a perfect mood.
Werewolf Airline Simulator is game about a stewardess shapeshifting into a Were”animals”. Great graphics and music. Even if its not the same thing the game make me think to Theme hospital. Really funny one!
…”Zen and the Art of Transhumanism is a cyberpunk pottery game about improving the human race through technology.”… couldnt say this better ^^ behind this awesome teasing concept, there is a really polished game with a very rare level of pixel art (probably the best of the jam) and a great ambiance. It takes a a few minutes to get into it but it really deserves it !
Porknight is a nice game where you have to defend your king, there is no great innovation in this one and it is too short but the graphics are made in a wonderful style and its pretty fun to play.
Flesh Mess is a great Run’n’Gun game , very similar to our game on many points
. The graphics style is ill and the game is really responsive. If you like to shoot this is a must play.
Blob Tales is a very nice ” lemmings-like “. The graphics are really a good and this is plenty of good ideas.
Muoto the Geometry Wizard is a great dungeon shooter where you have to kill constant shapeshifting ennemies with your shapeshifting magic . The pixel art is great and after a few fights everything become intuitive. It’s also quiet hard and offers a nice challenge.
Look at your Feet is this kind of game wich use simple mechanics and beautifull pixel art to make you live a story that you didnt except… The work of this guys is great, you should definitly check their others games .
SLAHP is a platformer game with a great atmosphere and unique chillout rythm. You should give a try to experience the nice art style of this eye shaped planet. It quiet funny and addictiv.
Aftertile is the CGA game you have dream to pocess when you were a kid. The minimal graphics are amazing and the cga colors is perfectly balanced. The level design is good too .
Nyamo’s Adventure is a platformer where you shape shift to find your way in the levels. The graphics are really good aswell as the mechanics that shapeshifting involve.
there is a lot more of good games. we will be back for a second round 😉
otherwise,we have commented every games that we have tested and rated, some comments are more complet and contrutiv than others so if we have tested your game you should know what we think of it

HeartLamp’s Top Lists.
Cool Concept (not in order)

Paperchase: For best excuse for main character to shapeshift/character design.

Rain contact: OH FUCK this idea is awesome, just… this is awesome– what the fuck is happening? … awesome.

Agent Shift: Because complicated mechanics and a high concept are awesome sometimes.

Duality: When I first realized what was going on I was like OH SHIT! That’s pretty cool. A more viable Fez-ish mechanic for side-scrollers and platformers.

Friendshift Madness: I think this game might be art.

Shāp SHift: Coming in 2016 to treat people with OCD.
Best Execution/Our Top 5 (in order.)
5. Sub-Dragon Great.

Sub Dragon.
4. Theseus Most fun puzzles.

3. Subject 26 Best atmosphere to mechanics relationship.

1/2. Biological Warfare Best iteration of a concept of ppl were trying this LD. Just nailed it in the ‘theme’ category.

1/2. WindowFrame. Just awesome.

(Granted we only got to play like around 4% of total entries… but of the ones we played these were awesome. Thanks for playing and making!)
Honorable Mention:
Our game (cuz we made it)
Play, rate and comment here! (HTML5): Click!
I started to remake Stoopid Robats! in Unity (LDJAM version was in Gamemaker), and I need some more feedback for this.
It would be great if you could play the HTML5 version up here, leave a comment and a rating and tell me what you would like to see in the new, proper version.
Planned are:
This is a gif from the basics (minus shapeshifting) running in Unity
Getting some more input (and ratings, not many yet) would be great and really appreciated because I would like to work some more on the idea and user input goes a long way when improving the game.
The Unity version will feature dynamic lights and 3D platforms and pickups/powerups among other things. (The eyes illuminate the platforms, this is already set up in the gif above but barely visible due to some recent changes. It looks quite nice once everything is fine tuned)
Thanks!

We just finished a (somewhat) working level editor for Shape Escape.
Try it out here: WIN/UNITY Standalone/DROPBOX
It doesn’t have all of the features used to create the original game, but it should work well enough despite all of the bugs. Plus you can save and share your created levels, although only by manual uploading at this point.
Play and rate the original Jam entry here!

With the voting round coming to and end in a few hours, I would like to take a moment and thank everyone who took part in LD35 and brought more games to the world. This was my first Ludum Dare, and I was surprised by how exciting an experience it was. There are things I now wish I had done differently, but it was a great learning experience and overall I am satisfied by the result. I had lots of fun playing as many of your games as I could, and many times I was pleasantly surprised by your innovation and the amount of polish in them, considering the time limitation.
I would like to send my extra special thanks to everyone who took the time to play, rate and comment on my game (Go Away, Zeus!). If I haven’t played your game already, comment it here, I’ll try to play as many games as possible until the time’s up.
Hey, everyone.
So todays is a last day and we still dont have enough votes to get to 17 votes, and this makes us really sad developers. And we dont want to be sad developers, so please play our game and vote for it. And if you leave a comment under our entry we will play and rate your game too, as a gratitude.

Anyway, we wanna say that Ludum Dare was a really great experience, thanks to everyone who played our game and to the guys who even made ludum dare possible. We really hope that we will participate in the future jams.
You can find our entry here.

Hey devs!
The 35th edition of Ludum Dare is ending! Congrats all for your work!

I only got 40 votes for my second game, The Incredible Tweene, but they have nice feedback, thank you!
If you didn’t played already, you can do it and rate it yet!

Thanks!! See u at LD36 !!

Hey everyone, this is my post-mortem, for the entry which I dubbed ‘Virgin Blood’, a game about an aged count who seeks to rejuvenate himself by consuming the blood of a fair maiden: the castle princess.
Lucky for him, the princess is spending the afternoon in the castle gardens.
Unlucky for him, his fatigue makes him unable to fly high enough to avoid guards and get straight to her, being forced to make his way through the garden labyrinth.
And may I say, I finally got to achieve something important in this LD – enough gameplay to call it a game.

So here are some things worth mentioning about its development:
WHAT WENT RIGHT:
– it helped A LOT to use software like MagicaVoxel for content creation, although you should always squint an eye on the stats/profiler. I had some trouble with poly count, before ending up simplifying things, so that the game has a proper framerate even on webgl builds.
– it helped A LOT to plan level design in a way that progressively helps the player understand the game. Very few people complained about not knowing what to do in the game. Although I do regret I had no time left to scatter the instructions themselves across the levels.
– it helped A LOT to sleep well. And although this is the compo I worked on the LEAST (around 12 hours or so) , it feels as if I’ve done the MOST so far.
– I made a really good choice combining twitch elements and move planning
WHAT WENT WRONG:
– it would have helped A LOT to spend at least 15-30 minutes for the audio. no loop, no sfx for this entry, which is sad
– it would have helped A LOT to spend more time fixing bugs after the submission. I only fixed the critical ones. But as it turns out, a glitch that had no actual implications except for aesthetically looking odd, made players think some of their fails were caused by it. I’m talking about the feeding animation. Should’ve fixed it from the start.
– I made a really poor choice combining tile-based character movement and keyboard input. I could have probably changed that in time but I was so caught up with what I was working on, that I dismissed the issue. And a bit lazy.

These being said, cheers and congrats to everyone!
And don’t forget to play and rate the game if you haven’t already. I’ll be dedicating these last hours doing the same for you
