LD35 April 15–18, 2016

In for a very short amount of time

I’m travelling this weekend so I won’t have much time, maybe a few hours so I’m going for a low budget game this time.  Also, if anyone is heading to Devintersections conference ring me up.

Anyway, tools of the trade:

Programming: Visual Studio 2015, C#, Monogame, Notepad++.

Graphics: Paint.net mostly, but I have a lot of other tools lying around

Sound: Famitracker, Audacity, and an Ukulele.

Base Code: My custom engine, (the link also has a sample game to see it in context).

In an case, everyone have fun and make sure to eat and sleep well, it really helps.

LET’S DO THIS

I’m back for another round of sleepless nights. As always I’m going to be using GameMaker: Studio and Flash, but that depends on the final theme announcement.

Take a look at my “battle station”.

I’M STREAMING RIGHT NOW! Hope you can take a look during the jam.

Good luck, everyone!

Oh May Ghai! I’m doing Ludum Dare #35!

Hello all of my LD peeps!  I’m here to announce that I will be entering LD #35.

This will be my tenth attempt at Ludum Dare.  I hope I succeed in gaming a game, unlike my last attempt.

I started a game engine with Ludum Dare #34.  It’s a simple Javascript/HTML5 system utilizing PIXI for rendering backend, so it can handle for Canvas or WebGL.

I also write a simple vector 3D rendering system with this engine, but I never completed a game for it in time for the compo/jam.  If you want to see the write-up I did about how I created the engine, you can view it on my website.

Tools of my trade:

  • Custom Javascript/WebGL/Canvas game engine called Smoking Mirror.  You can find the demos here or the source code here.
  • Inkscape for vector (if I do vector).
  • Photoshop for art manipulation.
  • Aesprite for pixel art and animation (if I do pixel art).
  • Audacity for basic audio editing.

Awesome art!!! I love it! Good luck

I’m In!

I’m in! This is my first time entering Ludum Dare, and my first ever competition. I’ll be using:

I will make my game with Gamemaker

And I will make the sounds with Bfxr.

Good luck to all!

I’m In

I’m in for my 7th solo-compo LD.

Last time I got first place in compo Fun, which was always my target category.  I guess now I have to try something new!

So this time I think I’m going to switch from a pixel style in GraphicsGale to a vector style in Inkscape.  It will still be programmer art but hopefully I can learn basic competence and/or blatantly rip off real artists.

Here is my art test…

GO OR NO-GO?

Yeah, it’s a blatant ripoff with tweaks, from the famous tutorial here:

http://www.2dgameartguru.com/2011/10/lets-get-started-with-circles.html

For sound effects I will either use the traditional bfxr, or I may revisit the process I improved last time with PsychoTennis, which is to use a chiptune synthesizer as the core of my sound effects, and apply a bit of music theory to make them harmonious.

For an engine I will use Unity, and I will begin with my “Unity LD Starter Kit” codebase.  Since I’ll be using UnityGUI instead of the “old stuff” this time, my codebase will be lacking in some UI bits, which could prove trouble… or maybe will go smoothly.  Right??

It’s extremely unlikely I will attempt music for the first time during the compo.

Have fun, everyone!

We’re in!

Second jam with this team! Looking forward to the results!

In there

Joining this and I am not ready!

I’m in !

second time with Godot engine !

probably i’m gonna make something 3D

I’m in!

I’m doing this Ludum Dare!!!

I really badly want to use Java…but then I realized that there are just flat out too many things I don’t fully know on porting it to other platforms, and sometimes my Java games don’t work on my friends’ computers if they are Windows 8/10. So…yeah. I personally feel like Windows 7 is the best and generally the most compatible version and anyone else using newer versions should copy their Operating System into a CD and smash it into a wall switch back to Windows 7.

So, onwards…

I’m in!

I will be doing the 48 hour compo and will probably upload the game to MediaFire.

Tools:

  • Unity3D / C# for Scripting
  • Notepad++ as the code editor
  • Blender
  • Paint.NET
  • SFXR
  • Audacity

I’m In!

Let’s GO!

hi.

doing it again

Stencyl, Paint.net, bfxr.

I’m In!

Let’s go baby!

Im IN!

I think I already said this but IM IN!

Participating in LD 35

I’ll be participating in LD 35 along with my partner Jaggler3. We’re not sure if we’re going to use a custom engine or Unity, depends on theme. And for art I’ll be using paint.net

Cant w8!

have fun XD

I’m in!

Probably gonna try using C because I just finished a CS class that used C and I wanna try SDL in C. We will see.

First timer is in for Ludum Dare 35

This will be my first entry. having only coded 3.5 games in unity in the past year. I will be using Unity 5 again, and either blender or PixelEdit for graphics based on my ideas.

In

I’ll be using Unity, blender, gimp, blah blah the usual. A little rusty but i’m excited. Probably won’t have as much time as I would like because I have multiple volunteer events for Bernie to go to this weekend and maybe a family picnic (I’ll probably be fine skipping that though 😉

I’ll give it a go

I really don’t know how, but I will try to learn how to use GameMaker while doing the jam. I’m just hoping the best.
