LD19 December 17–20, 2010

All Prepped

I’m certainly not going hungry this LD.

Juices, milk, pasta and some oddities

On another note, I couldn’t help but update my base code a little. I simply forgot about it before, but now added a simple Particle effect class and some angle calculation. You can download the new code if you wish.

All that’s left is setting up the live stream, hopefully catching some sleep, and waiting for the theme to be announced.

Working on Sunday but…

…in case I decide to join in anyway, here‘s my basecode (C++, GPL). Dependencies are: GLEW; libjpeg; freetype; libpng; portaudio; SDL; SDL_image; SDL_ttf; zlib. Other programs I might use are Inkscape, Paint Shop Pro and Tracktion.

Lets do this.

Hey guys. I’m joining as well. No deskshot this time (maybe later, but my desk didn’t change that much).
I’ll be using the same setup as last LD:

code: Visual Studio (C#)
gfx: Paint.Net & GraphicsGale,
sfx: Live 8, Wavosaur maybe sfxr for placeholders

I haven’t decided yet if I’ll start from scratch or use my basecode (pewWorks).

Looking forward to all the submissions. have fun everyone and cya later.

First time

This will be my first ludum dare comp and I am looking forward to it. Still unsure which platform I should use. Right now I am leaning toward Java.

#gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */ LudumDare 003 LudumDare 001 LudumDare 002

Platform: Java (probably or iPhone)

graphics: PhotoShop and Illustrator

sound: sfxr or record my own

iPhone might not be the best idea for the compo, as it’ll be hard to get a bunch of people to play it. If you think you can get over that hurdle, great, but I just want to make sure you’re aware of it.

Thanks for the tip. I think I will stick with Java. I also thought I could use Allegro or PyGame as they would both be fun. Maybe next time.

yeah, I was thinking iPhone as well, until I realized that not enough people would be able to self sign, or would want to be bothered.

Doing LD19

Hey guys, this is my second Ludum Dare and i’m super excited!

Gona be using Code::Blocks (c++) with SDL

Gimp for graphics

Sfxr for sound

Musagi for music

and Chronolapse for my timelapse

Good luck everyone

My first time…

Ahh, the memories.

Seriously though, I just heard about LD recently and have decided to give it a go.

My tools: Flash – AS3 code written in Flash Develop.

I use TweenLite/Max for a tweening engine and possibly CDK for collisions depending on the theme.

Graphics: Photoshop and Flash

Sound: I’m no musician so likely free sound effects I find modified in Audacity. Possibly sfxr but have never used it so am not sure.

First Timer Here!

Hey everyone!

This is my first time in the competition as well. I will be using Flash Punk for my submission, Paint.Net for graphics and sfxr/audacity/LMMS for audio. This is my first time using Flash Punk as well so this should be a complete trainwreck. Looking forward to finding out the theme and not getting enough sleep this weekend.

Diet Chugg’s 4th Ludum Dare – #19

Hi everyone. In the past I have tried to make games for this competition using tools I know in order to make the best game I can.

This Ludum Dare I am going to use as a learning opportunity to learn some new tools.

So I am going to use:

Unity 3.1 (New Tool)

Maya (New Tool)

Gimp (New Tool)

Logic Studios (Not New tool)

snfx (Not New tool)

as usual I will try my hardest to make sure I have fun audio for all to play. (Since that is what most people liked about my game the best.)

Good Luck to all and eat some cheese

Two Timer

Hello again all you crazy kids.  I’m really looking forward to having another crack at this.  I’m not particularly inspired by any of the themes(yet) but hey that’s democracy for you.  My first attempt was Murus for LD14 but it’s all change this time.  That was all done in stuffy old C and SDL . This time I’m embracing this new fandangled tubular internets thing and going to have a go at making my first flash game.  I shall be using some, none or all of the following  :  Flash Develop, Flixel, PaintShopPro5 (yeah what of it!), SFXR, Musagi and Codeheads bitmap font generator.

First time[2]

About my entry(http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2010/12/14/first-time-8/),  I may also use inkscape for the artwork. http://inkscape.org/

Ambition – Two Entries?

I have decided that I will, at all costs, finish my compo game before the end of the 48h. That’s final.

I’ve also decided that for extra challenge I’ll be entering a game in the jam, and not starting it until the end of the compo proper, giving me 24h.

I’ve already got an idea for the jam game in mind, and if it uses the theme, it’ll be by coincidence.

I… Really need a break from Little Ninja. I’m at a point where I’ll need to refactor heavily to get my even system in, and I need a break from it before I do that.

I’ll probably work on at least one of the two LD games post-compo. I really like my Jam game idea, but I do want to give myself the challenge of only having 24h to make it.

Plus, it just wouldn’t be LD without a 48h scramble, and now that there is a 72h jam alongside it, may also also have a second, 24h hour scramble. Hee hee!

That said, the jam game will be much simpler, but will hopefully still come out well.

I’m PUMPED!

Yeah, that is indeed ambitious. I keep the fingers crossed for you to have enough enegy for two master-pieces. I for myself would be glad to just finish this time ;D Keep on rocking…

Creating a game in 24h, that sounds challenging indeed!

My desk…

Everyones doing it so here it is!

Nothing special, no second monitors, no extra computers, only one laptop.

SVN on OS X

I’ve done several compo’s and found a version control system to be very valuable.

For OS X users; I made a tutorial on how to set up a local SVN repository:

I’ve been using this ‘time-lapse’ tool Gawker, and I seems there are some frame rate issues…

Here we go

I am in.  Hell or high water, friends or family, I am not going to allow distractions to keep me from participating this time.

List of stuff

Language: C++

Frameworks: MUGE (personal extesions to Gosu) found at https://github.com/ChadyG/MUGE

Sound: sfxr

Music: garageband most likely

Graphics: Inkscape

Food: everything you got

Hi, I jam for fame

Since it’s my burning desire to be internet famous, I will make a game for the compo.

Things I’ll use:

Let us fame jam, yes?

DarkEdge – First LD48!

Hoping to learn a lot the next couple of days :)

Tools:

  • sfxr
  • Paint.net
  • Java (Applet)
  • … <probably forgetting something here>

I’ll use some base code as well – It’s not much, really. I wanted to make a Java game some time ago, but the framework was never finished. Some of it is derived from Notch’s previous LD entries, and some code is from the Sun tutorials.

Here is the framework

I don’t know what I’ll do in regards to music… I’ve never really made any music before, and I might use WolframTones (if that’s allowed), or leave music absent. Same goes for my timelapse. I’ve set up Chronolapse with webcam enabled, woo!

Good luck to you all! 😀

First Time For Me

Hi guys!

I read about this compo on my way back to home and I think it will be fun to participate in it. I don’t know if I will use C# or Java or maybe something else, first I need a theme and then I will see. :)

I think I’m going to use sfxr and musagi for audio (never heard of them, but they seem easy to use) and for the graphics probably MS paint. xD

I don’t have much experience in making games, but this is the perfect opportunity for me to see what I’ve got. 😀

Have fun everybody 😉

Moar basecode: Lalonde 1.0-beta

Mwahaha, this LD is the occasion for me to cleanup my basecode(s) and make pretty releases for them. This one is my character based client-server network terminal thingy where all the code is executed in the server.

Retro pretty

You can get it on the Launchpad project page, or get directly the source in a zip or a gzipped tarball.

Fell free to use, or absolutely ignore. I don’t know yet myself if I’ll use it. I’d like to try, because writing basecodes and not using them is le useless. It’s very much untested in terms of usability, hence the “beta”, but the code itself should be pretty solid.

Anticipation & Preparation!

Panic starts to set in during Ludum Dare theme voting week and by-golly this week has gone by fast. I wasn’t able to participate in LD #18 so I’m excited to be getting ready for #19. My machines are all rebooted with a clean desktop and ready to rock.

Computers:
– iMac 27″ Core i7
– HP Laptop (in case I need to use any Windows apps)

Coding:
– Flash Builder 4
– Flixel 2.35

Graphics:
– Adobe Photoshop CS5
– Wacom Bamboo
– iPad apps (maybe)

Audio:
– sfxr
– Audacity
– GarageBand
– iPhone/iPad apps (maybe)

Other:
– Chat Mapper (if I go with a dialog heavy game idea)

Time Strategy:

Unfortunately I won’t get a chance to start right away on Friday evening so my usual plan will be out of whack. But roughly this is what I’ll stick to:

– Friday night: Think of an idea that fits the theme
– Saturday Morning: Prototype
– Saturday Afternoon/Night: Drive to Alpha (core content, fully playable, submittable if needed)
– Sunday: polish, tuning, nice-to-haves.
