LD 38 April 21–24, 2017

End of Sunday Progress

Having spent much of the day faffing with UI, and Camera, I have finally started to get some mechanics logic into the game loop.

We now tick occasionally, and every tick people can be born, or die, and house building is triggered by need of the population. It's turning into a small living world!

Gradually as more of the tick logic is added, the game will come together!

I hope that the time I have available tomorrow is enough to get enough gameplay in worth submitting. But either way, it's been a great experience so far. Even the UI layout and camera bugs...

I'm Done!

I'm quite happy with how it turned out, I just hope I didn't miss a big bug or something...

Kinda turning into the chrome logo ^^

Great progress made by the team! Rise of the Termites

Our game is really going good and the team is happy with the result!

Today some of us focused a bit more on art when other added the support for wave of enemies and a webgl build.

There is still a lot to do to: fix bug, balance the gameplay and maybe improve some termites AI, but overall the game is already feeling cool to play.

Ho an audio... if we have time hehe.

We can even lose, there is no way to win for now and we have a tutorial under the shape of tooltip everywhere :D

Anyway, here is some screenshots and a link to itch.io if you are courageous enough to play it in the beta state.

Lonely is finished!

logo_large.png

Lonely is finished! My entry to Ludum Dare 38. First night was a bit rough. I couldn't come up with a concrete idea and played around with a planet building/managing game but eventually settled on a sort of 'Were's Waldo' type game. My goal was to make a game that was totally random with a exponential difficulty spike and I am pretty sure this satisfies that. Starting population of the town is 3 people, and each level it goes up 3 so it can get pretty populated by level 10. Because it is infinite you can and will run into fps issues since Unity's path-finding system isn't totally optimized for massive amounts of actors but I am happy how easy it was.

I actually finished it in just 2 minutes shy of 24 hours, a personal best for me! It's not a long game but I hope people still find it interesting. Enjoy the procedural soundtrack as well!

LITTLE FORTUNE PLANET: Day 2

logo.png

This morning started with renewed energy, and things are taking shape - kind of an odd shape, but that's nothing new for us.

Today's Activities

@daanvanyperen smoothed out the physics, adding clouds and rainfall, before moving on to putting together our card system and even setting up achievements.

@meatmachine unleashed a load of music and sound effects on us. He's been preemptively creating sound assets before we even knew we needed them.

@troop wrote the opening monologue and recorded it for MeatMachine to edit into a neat introduction to the game.

And I spent the day making cards (see a few examples below), tiny character sprites, achievements, getting logos ready for in-game use, and whatever else needed arting, I wonder what tomorrow brings!

Basically, you are a person on a small world that you have to try to fight off enemies without trying to die or starve.GameJoltSmallWorld.png

Done! Well...done a while ago

Finished! And uploaded in time, despite having a mixture of appointments and work to do during the 48 hours. I'm honestly quite proud of what I actually managed to do, and amazed by what everyone else has also done.

done and tired

Finished making the game, didn't have enough time for fixing graphics, and game balance and such, but who needs those? I have a game! Don't know why you'd want to, but you can go play it now! while you go do that I'm gonna go get all that delicious sleep.

Go play "A Small End": https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/$20166 Skärmklipp 2017-04-24 01.55.37.png

Terrartisan (finished!)

Yaaaay! I'm done! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/terrartisan

finished.png

Tomorrow I'll post details, now I need to sleep :)

Pluto

Story: - Broadcast from Earth "new planet discovered!" [February 18, 1930] - They keep on looking at us..... [1976] - IAU resolution "It must have cleared the neighborhood around its orbit". - "Pluto is now to be know as a small world in other terms a dwarf planet" [August 24, 2006]

Goal: Take out all the other planets using moons and asteroids.

Controls: left/right to control the rotation around the sun up/down to control how close to the sun you are space bar consumes a moon for more mass/health

It needs quite a bit more work to make the gameplay fun and interesting and not brutal. But you learn from your mistakes and I need to sleep.
