First LD

Hey all,

I just learned about Ludum Dare earlier this year and I'm excited to be participating for the first time. I dipped my toes in the game jam jacuzzi earlier this year with Alakajam. For Alakajam I made a game where you fed a cat different objects, which would make the cat shit gold coins that could be used to buy new objects to feed the cat, which would make the cat shit more coins, et cetera ad nauseum. I didn't finish the feed-cat-get-gold-coin-shit game (nor did I come up with a suitable name) in time to meet the Alakajam deadline, but I learned a ton in making it.

I'm hoping to find time to produce something simple but complete for LD.

I plan on using Unity, Blender, Gimp, and Ableton if I have time to make music.

Good luck all!

My first LD!

It's the first time for my LD.And i'm a program newbie .

TOOLS: Engine : Construct2; Art : Photoshop; Audio : SFXR;

Lemme get your attention

I’m in for my first ever game jam, been working with games for about a year and am excited for the challenge! Good luck to all!

  • Unity
  • Piskel
  • Bosca Ceoil
  • probably more

I also might stream on twitch, so look out for that!

I'm in! My 4th Loodem Dah'rey!

Wife and kid out of the house - Check. Energy drinks and snacks ready - Check. Latest Unity patch installed - Check. Now I just hope I get some inspiration out of the theme :)

Second try

This will be my second Ludum Dare. I participated in the LD39 Compo with my game Delivery Drain but this time around I will be working with my brother in the Jam. We don't have a concrete plan but we want to make something in 3D. Unity, Blender, Gimp, FL Studio and BFXR will be the majority of the tools that we use. We will probably build it for html5 and host it on my website like last time.

Some of the themes reminded us of some rough game ideas that we've had in the past. If we're lucky we might get a chance to finally build one of them. Does anybody else use Ludum Dare as an excuse to try old game ideas or does everyone prefer to come up with a new idea on the spot?

All In!

Thought it was time I stop lurking and start participating. Amateur in terms of programming, garbage in most other aspects but I'm so excited to actually make something. I've even taken time of work just to fully commit to this Ludum Dare. Haven't decided if I'll go for the Compo or the Jam yet but programs I'll be using are: - Unity (new to Unity so might panic and swap back to GameMaker half way through) - Paint.net - BFXR - Audacity - Blender

Best of luck everyone, hope we all have a good time!

First time for everything!

I first heard of the Ludum Dare years ago, but LD39 was the first I really looked at. It seemed really cool! So I put LD40 on my calendar.

I think I'm going to give it a shot. I've never really made a complete game before, so we'll see how it goes!

Currently, the plan is to use the Rust programming language, along with GIMP/Blender, and perhaps Audacity for asset creation.

My Second Ludum Dare

Last time I made this poop of a game https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/power-hog

But it was an amazing experience.

I hope to make something better this time.

My first Ludum Dare

This is the first LD I will be participating in. I have played many great games from previous editions and got inspired to try and make something on my own.

Initially I was going to use SDL2, but the development time is rather slow (for me :D) , so I think I will just use Game Maker 1.4. I also use Aseprite for assets and bfxr + renoise for sounds.

Good luck, everyone!

I'll be participating in LD40 Compo!

I'm currently polishing up my game framework NICO with some nicer audio functionality which should make it easier to quickly make SFX during the compo.

I'll be working with: * NICO my game framework https://github.com/ftsf/nico (used for the past few LDs and some other projects) * aseprite my favourite sprite editor * tiled tile map editor if necessary * GIMP maybe * LSDJ for music * PICO-8 for SFX if my own thing doesn't turn out

Hope I can make something new and fun =)

I'm in!

This will be my first LD jam, and I hope I'm able to push myself through it. I have a huge project due for one of my classes on Monday, so I may have to use down time to program that assignment too. Woo.

I plan to use: - Unity3D - Blender/GIMP/Paint.net - Bosca Ceoil (hopefully, may resort to FL Studio if not) - Lots and lots of coffee and energy drinks

I wish everyone best of luck with the compo and jam!

After an extended hiatus...

...I will be participating in Ludum Dare again! I used to participate in LD regularly and also just develop year-round in my free time, but I lost some of my fire a couple of years ago and stopped making games entirely. Well, a bit of that fire has rekindled now, so I'll see what I can do.

Specs:

Language: JavaScript (I used to use Java primarily, but recently have become quite attached to JavaScript through my job)

Engine: Three.js (This is my first time using three.js, so hopefully things go alright)

Modelling: Blender (Of course)

Music: FL Studio (In previous jams my music was one of the better-rated categories for my games, so I played around a bit the other day to get a feel for the controls again; I totally suck now  )

Sound Effects: ~~BFXR~~ SFXR (I used to use BFXR, but I switched to Ubuntu a while ago and apparently BFXR only works on Windows and Mac...)

Ballmer's Peak Generator: Lagunitas Pilsener

Usually my games are pretty mechanically light and I spend 80% of the compo making assets and designing levels. I think this time I might focus more on having interesting gameplay mechanics though.

Good luck everyone! I'll see you at the end, sleep deprived and partially hallucinating.

Now get push notifications for new ratings and comments on your LD entry. I made this open source Android app during last Ludum Dare However, due to large number of posts on LD website at that time, I think many of you might not have seen it.

  • Get push notifications on new ratings and comments
  • Supports markdown in comments
  • See the name of the commenter along with their about section.

Getting Ready!

I'm getting ready for Ludum Dare once again. If my teammember joins, we should knock out something reasonably interesting... I hope?

Going to be using my FDZmini stuff again, a 'mostly standard JS block' of code I use for all the Ludum Dare's until I find a JS engine I like. :)

(Basically everything in the FDZ folder.)

I can't wait for LD! It's gonna be good!

I plan to use: - Game Maker: Studio - Fruity Loops - Piskel

Here we go again

This will be my second Ludum Dare. I really had fun the last time. Hopefully I can improve on my scoring this time.

The tools I'll be using: - Game Maker 2 - Aseprite - Photoshop - Bosca Ceoil

I'm in! First LDJam!

Hey! I'm finally joining the jam for the first time. I've wanted to for years, but I've never really been able to until now. I'm not that awesome of a dev, but hopefully I can throw something together before the Jam deadline.

I'll be using Unity, Aseprite, Bfxr, and Bosca Ceoil.

It's the big one? When I upload my starting code, it'll be here https://github.com/WilliamBundy/ld40-base

A little prejam doodling

Decided to do a little doodling in Pyxel Edit since I haven't been pixeling much lately! froggy.png His name is Winston.

Be kind, it's not his fault he always looks angry (it's mine). Planning to use Pyxel Edit for graphics, Sublime Text 3 for coding, and Github for my version control.

Happy jamming everyone!
