LD 40 December 1–4, 2017

Let's do this

I'm jumping into this (my first game jam) somewhat spontaneously; I only learned it was happening earlier today. Honestly, it's probably for the best. I'm sure I would over-prepare otherwise.

My goals are: - Spend a while on design before I touch any implementation. I'm planning to dedicate Friday night to this. - Keep the scope small and the game simple. If I end up with extra time, there will certainly be things to polish and tweak. - Don't worry too much about visuals/audio. Some day I hope to get more experience with asset creation and the like, but not for this jam. - Complete the game! Even if I don't end up finishing it this weekend, I hope to continue until it's in a presentable state (whatever that means).

I haven't determined what tools I'll be using yet; that'll be largely based on the game I decide to make. I'll probably spend a considerable part of development learning or re-learning the tools I choose.

I'm really looking forward to this jam. Hopefully, my goals will make sure that I'm kind to myself and have fun.

I'm in! basecode! Also what's everyone using for hosting?

Excited to make something!

Tools I'll be using: - Engine: LÖVE with some basecode for zest - Music: FL Studio - SFX: Labchirp - Graphics: ASEprite

Good luck, everyone!

As for my question: anyone know of a good free host that allows direct downloads? Dropbox doesn't do it any more and I'm miffed!

Firts ldjam!!!

This is my first ldjam! Using -Unity (Game Engine) -Bosca ceol, beepbox.co, and garageband for music! -Piskel and blender for art! Wish you all luck!

My first Ludum Dare! I'm excited n.n

Hello! this will be my first Ludum Dare and jam in general. I have made lots of games in less than 2 days, some of them published on Google Play, but this will be my first time actually competing.

The tools I will use:

I'm still deciding if doing the compo or the jam. I'm not very good at making music, the jam permits you to use public domain and creative commons licensed music, also one extra day gives me more creative freedom so I can do something bigger.

Follow me on Twitter for updates Daahrien

Edit.- Updated Twitter handle.

First Ludum Dare #Clueless

Looking forward to my first Ludum Dare. I have no idea what to expect or how it will go but I know it will be fun :)

Unity / Photoshop / Blender / Fruity Loops

Main goal: Keeping it simple...

Going in!

This will be my first Ludum Dare and I am soooo excited for it! I will be using the following programs for the project.

Construct 2 (easy to use and easy to sprite with) LMMS (makes good music)

First Ludum Dare Jam

Will be joining jam with @zander @AD @Snakeboy . Will be using Unity, Bosca Ceoil, and Photoshop. GL too all!

I'm in once again~!

I'm super excited! All the themes this time around seem really good! The tools I'll be using are the same as always: - Game Maker Studio 2 - Aseprite - Audacity - Sfxr - Chronolapse

Tools I might use are: - Tiled - SpARTan - TileMancer - Bosca Ceoil - Fl Studio

Good luck to everybody!

First LD!

Pretty stoked to be trying Ludum Dare for the first time! For the jam I'll be using: - Gamemaker Studio 1.4 - FLStudio/Audacity for audio/SFX - Aseprite for sprites

Only 24 more hours! GLHF

Super Excited

This will be my second Ludum Dare as I participated in LD38. I am extremely excited to enter.

Main Tools: - Clickteam Fusion 2.5 standard - Gimp

Good luck everyone!

Exciting times

Assuming I actually get my game done on-time, this will be the first Ludum Dare I ever enter.

I've entered some other, smaller jams before, so I have some experience, but this will be by far the shortest amount of time I've ever had to make a game.

Hopefully I can actually pull through with this one!

I'm in yet again!

Well looks like it's ld time again. last time went decently but I still had little actual gameplay, I hope to change that this time. As usual I'm switching up my language and tools for minimal productivity!

Tools:

IDE: Visual Studio 2017

Other Editors: VS Code, Sublime Text 3

Language: C++ (please don't make me regret this)

Graphics: OpenGL (glew, glfw)

Math: glm

Other Libs: soil, freetype

Audio: OpenAL

Sound: Ableton Live 9 maybe or sfxr/bfxr

Art: Paint.net / Aseprite / Photoshop

Source Control: git

Distractions: Discord, Vincent

Happy 40th! Here goes..

I'm in. For the first time ever.

OK! I take courage to participate my first game jam. Hope everything goes well.

I'll be using:

UNITY - you know... I never finised a game in Unity before, so this is going to be fun.

BLENDER - Let's keep this low poly.

FL STUDIO - Sometimes everything a game needs is silence, but not this time.

Good luck to everyone! Let's make an awesome game jam. <3

I'm in

as always i'm using:

  • GameApi Builder https://www.meshpage.org/mesh_tool.php
  • meshpage.org web page https://www.meshpage.org/mesh_all.php

First Ludum Dare

So this will be my first time participating in this. I'm not sure how good I'll actually be at this, but I'm going to try. Whether Jam or compo, I'm short on time, so this will be an interesting test to see if I can make a game in just about 48 hours. Lots of things are going to try to pull me away, but I'm gonna give it the best shot I have.

Learning Unity for this, I have good C# experience already.

Will likely end up using audacity, MagicaVoxel, and GIMP.

I have no idea what I'm going to be doing, but lets hope I come up with a good idea :)

oh look theres a blog

Edit: I dont know why I saved it, I wasnt done yet...

Hello, Blog.

I'm using Java for this jam. I roll pure java, no libraries that dont come with the JDK. Most of my stuff is done in JavaFX's Canvas component stuck inside of a window. The only starting code I'm using this jam is about 50 lines of boilerplate that opens a window with said canvas and initializes a game state.

I'm sorry to everyone who hates java, but it's cross platform ;). So yeah good luck everyone, I cant wait to see what comes outa this one.

Nice to meet you

My place for LD#40! Well, messy as usual. https://photos.app.goo.gl/tj5OPpjvsewgaycF3

(Seems like that I cannot upload a picture using markdown syntax?

First time in a Ludum Dare event, I'm happy to meet cool people like you! Good luck to all the game jammers, and happy creating!

Hey There Everyone

Here is the traditional "I'm In" blog post. This will be my 17th time competing in Ludum Dare. I aim to participate in the Compo and will be using the trusty tools of GameMaker: Studio, Paint.net, SFXR and Audacity.

I've been pretty happy with my last years worth of jam games, especially after placing 11th overall in LD39, so I'm hoping the trend can continue. The a good chunk themes in the final round of voting look pretty reasonable this time around, so it's looking like it should be an enjoyable one.

Good luck everyone.

Long time lurker. First time participator.

I decided I will give this whole thing a shot. I have made some game a week prototypes before a few months back and now want to see if I can't finish something in just 48 hours. Hopefully I can finish on time and have fun along the way.

Tools

  • Unity
  • Audacity
  • Paint dot Net
  • Probably something else that I haven't even foreseen using but will be useful

Hello LD!

Been following LD for a long time, but this will be first time joining!

Just Unity and Photoshop, most likely. Not sure about audio yet.
