LD 41 April 20–23, 2018

Can't wait for the yummy Jam

This is my first LD and I'm very excited/nervous to go solo:sweat_smile:! I've competed in some local jams in Sydney, Australia and even won once!

I'm a C# dev full time, using Unity for development, just dusting it off now and checking out the changes announced at GDC. Can't wait for nested Prefabs!

I have zero other skills and this usually makes for some pretty hilarious art and music.

Hi everyone!

Question: If in a team...

Who submits the game? And how can the submitter ensure that the game appears in all team members' profiles? This is my first LDJ, so I'm not sure whether a game would appear in all team members' profiles upon submission.

im innnnnnn

Let's go boys finna make skiry m 2 the phantom menance

Ld 41

Can’t wait and a little nervous!

Practice with Voxelart

I started making voxelarts with MagicaVoxel a week ago. You can find a few more models: https://twitter.com/JOrbitsGames. Here some models I made:

Tips for a Successful Slaughter

There is always some contention surrounding theme selection, and I figured I would chip in my two cents as someone who's been through this a few times.

  • Vote "yes" generously. I saw a lot of people last time around proudly submitting screenshots with all but 50 or so themes slaughtered. Don't do that! The theme slaughter is basically an approval vote with multiple winners. If too many people vote for only their favorite candidates, instead of voting for every candidate they would be okay with, it reduces the usefulness of the vote. If you want to be picky, that's what the final voting stage is for.
  • Don't reject a theme just because it's a duplicate of one you already voted on. If you voted yes on a theme before, and you see it again, then vote yes again. Once the theme slaughter is over, someone will go through the top themes and discard similar ones before putting them up for a vote. So, don’t worry about duplicates, just try to vote consistently.
  • Regarding interpretation of themes: This one is more subjective, but in my opinion, the best themes are ones that people will naturally interpret differently without trying, because of their unique personality and cultural perspective. Words and phrases with multiple meanings, or objects and concepts with many different applications, are good building blocks for such a theme. Descriptions of specific game mechanics or art styles, cultural references that not everyone will be familiar with, and ideas that only apply to a specific game genre (like platformer or FPS), generally don't work well as themes.

I'm In for My third LD

Gonna livestream this one again. Kinda nervous since I am using new tools since I have recently switched to Linux.

My Toolset

  • Godot 3
  • Gimp for Pixel art
  • SFXR for some basic sound

I switched from Unity to Godot and am quite nervous to be using a new toolset for this LD. If any of you have tips for Godot, do let me know.

In the midst of slaughter

Working through the slaughter, I feel like I'm seeing a lot of "alone" or "lonely" or "alone in ..."

Game jammers! You are loved! In a couple of weeks we're getting together and make games! It's going to be awesome!

First Ludum Dare

I'm in for my first Ludum Dare. I'll be using Godot and Piskel. I'm a pretty big noob so trying to keep it simple :)

First LD, Second Jam

First LD, second ever game jam. I hope this one goes better than the first with a more polished product :D.

Going to be using Godot 3, Paint.net, and probably Bfxr for sound.

Let's see how this goes...

First Game Jam entry, ever!

I've been programming for the last 15 years both hobbyist + professional, I'm always making little mini-games that I end up deleting and can't wait to participate in LD41, good luck to all!

I am in... again!

Hi all I am going to be trying my hand at the 3 day long jam again. Last time I tried was during the ld 39 jam. I am going to be using godot, aseprite primarily for the jam. Good luck everyone!

I'm in again

I've joined ludum dare once before but I haven't been able to the last two times. But this time for sure I'm going to win this!! Good luck everyone

9th LD

Will be doing 48h compo, as usual.

Tools: * Love2D - Framework * Visual Studio Code - Code editing * Krita - Graphics * REAPER - Sound and Music * Tiled - Level editing

My latest entry I think has been the best I've done so far. Focusing on audio has really paid off (20th place in audio WOOO!). I will write some libraries and try to streamline my workflow so that I have as much time as possible for audio and graphics for the upcoming LD.

Good luck :D

Slaughtering themes :p

Capture.PNG

I'd like to slaughter as many themes as possible, but I don't think I'll get through them all. I plan on shooting for about 50% of them in the next day or two, then we'll see if I feel like continuing.

How many themes have you guys slaughtered? (or how many do you plan on slaughtering?)

Henwitch Studio

Hi everybody !

We are Henwitch and we are ready to create !

My first entry

This is my first ludum dare entry. I'm super excited, and also nervous. I'm only 11 years old. I will be using Unity, MonoDevelop and Bosca Ceoil. I might also use blender. I'm just now going to have to learn c# in Unity.

I'm in LD 41

Hi guys! If all posts about they are in why don't I make it too ? :D It will be my 4th Ludum Dare jam (2/3 entries was on old platform), and dunno which jam at all 🤔 Dunno will be I solo or with team, but I'm/we're going to make some cool game 😉 🎮

Good luck to everyone!👌 And you can follow me on twitter: https://twitter.com/z_skilled
