So I've come up with some ideas which I think could work. Right now what I'm thinking about is what I called a "jumpy shooter" in my stream. I'm a bit afraid that it could be too hard for a newb like me, but you have to start somewhere! Essentially, you could hang on to walls and platforms, which would start going down eventually, hence, making you Run out of space.
It's time to sleep now, tomorrow first thing is to figure out how to hang on walls!
making a game for Ludum Dare where you are a hamster captain that has to motivate their crew to run on the treadmills that power the ship - but their instincts take over

Your goal is to reach a tiny asteroid the humans sent you to.

Im in for Ludum Dare 42
..there's a compo & jam to enter.
It's not THAT bad of a theme. If you're in distress, just do as I plan on doing - add vaporwave & outrun aesthetics to just about everything on there.
Good luck all!
I'm streaming over on https://www.twitch.tv/thechief10 and raising a bit of money for Extra Life :D donate here  looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with! I've made a solid start.
So not really the theme I hoped for but I have a few idea which I'd love to see if someone else would join in on.
First of a Bullet hell game combined with some clever inventory management, OH YES did I mention this idea have an ass-ton of guns and powers?
Some sort of 3D or 2D parkour game where the space around you is literally running out as a room is getting filled up with random stuff! you must escape with your sick moves!
God simulator: Well this is for those who really wanna be horrible, imagine game play like Plague Inc but you're god which need to kill people with different powers to avoid the earth getting overcrowded/overpopulated and draining the earth's resources completely.
Some sort of game where items is abilities which you use you complete stages.
Some sort of space game where you litterally fly out of space?

Can you check the quality of my stream? The network connection is poor and I want some feedback (I can't watch and stream at the same time). Stream: https://twitch.tv/datneverikguy
I convinced a friend to join the jam whith me , I'll brainstorm a bit today before going to sleep . The theme is interesting , I already have some ideas.
Got an idea, don't know about how much time I'll have to work on it.
I don't work without using some sort of source control. I use Github and I use a Java-based client called Smartgit.

BOOM-POW!
"Running" Out of Space
I like to say there's no such thing as a bad theme, but I'm thinking this is a good one.
I'm still trying to nail down which to use of the several ideas this gives me. What I want is the simplest idea, not the best idea. I really want something I can finish early and polish. I usually run out of time and present something half-baked at the end.
42 also gives me some ideas as well...
Haven't been Dareing for a while... not since the website updoot! But think it's about time to make another thing. Working with @hitchh1k3r and @naali again. Still rolling around ideas for Running Out Of Space as a Metroidvania. We shall see!
I made my base art for the game already, its ugly but IN PROGRESSION. Knew the game I was doing as the theme dropped, and decided to make a quick note here.
Don't rush through programmer art. Think it through.
I also wrote some scripts and stuff to get started.
OVERALL STATUS: UPBEAT.
Splash screen is the most important part of the game and must be done in the first place. Photoshop, your time is now!
