LD 42 August 10–13, 2018

I forgot it started 3 hours earlier

so I just woke up and the timer on the right side says there is only 1 day and 4 hours for the compo. is there something wrong with the timer? I thought I was just late by almost 5 hours.

End of first night

Got a bit distracted with ESO free week, but made some progress at least. not sure how the entire game will go yet. https://gyazo.com/fdcbaf08844ad52ed8ad9adf2f5f8c93

In It 100%

I am joining in this time with a easy-to-implement yet difficult-to-win idea! So you are just a normal guy living a normal life when you lose your keys. You have to find them before you leave the room, but wait! Is the ceiling slowly coming down to crush you? You find your keys and escape the room, but oh no! You are in another, messier room and you need to find another key, all with your doom slowly sliding down above you!

First LD - Crowded Prison

Hello, this is my first LD, I hope to be able to finish it!

My idea is to create a game about a crowded prison room, where the population is controlled by murdering the roommates. The room population increases by the new criminal getting arrested.

Concept art - OVER KILL

So here is a quick teaser for what it's going to be about  I will be looking forward to hearing from you guys :3

I have an idea!

I posted I was "in" before, but sometimes with these things if I can't think of a good concept for the theme then that's that. But not this time! I'm in in -- I have an idea that I like! It's called iFRAG: A Hard Drive Story. I'm pretty happy with the concept so far. I'll follow up when I have the details down more. Going to start working on a mockup then into Godot with it. Good luck everyone!

edit: I'm using Autodesk Graphic to do the art / mockup

The Best Themes Are Ones You Hate

It's happened a lot-- there's a theme or two in the final round that you really find boring or tedious, and you immediately sigh in disappointment when it wins, but those are the ones that make you think the hardest, and they always result in a game that isn't something you'd normally sit down to make. I think that's the best thing about these events.

Mega excited about the idea my girlfriend and I came up with. It's 9:30pm here in Chicago. She's hard at work drawing, and I'm coding some basic game mechanics and procedural art effects that are part of the actual gameplay. Usually I sleep after brainstorming on the first night, but starting early this year gives a chance to tackle some things and get your brain subconsciously thinking about the actual creation you've started making.

Having lots of fun. Thank you all, for being a part of this.

I'm in! My last LD was LD39.

Hey, I will be making a simple multiplayer game in HTML, JS and CSS, with the help of golang for the sockets in the backend.

I wanted to participate in the previous compos, but ended up not doing anything because I didn't like the themes or did not have a solid idea of what to make... This time around I wasn't planning on doing anything but decided last minute to participate.

Graphics: Inkscape + Paint.NET

Music: ????

Happy coding ❤

End of Night 1

Coming up on my bedtime, so I figured I would share what I have so far - and I'm proud of it!

The game's hook is in place, now we just need enemies, pickups, and polish! Basically, when the player misses a wall is created across the arena in the angle of their shot. These walls kill the player but not enemies. Certain pick-ups will allow the player to destroy their walls, shoot through them, or even physically pass through them.

Successful night - off to bed! Good luck, jammers!

Here we go!

Traffic was brutal but I finally started something; small scaffold and some pixel art! bluestar.png

Late Start!

I think I found out late about this. But I came up with an idea real quick luckily.

Will be building this in:

Unity3d

MagickaVoxel

Ableton (If I have time to make music)

I just started with Unity a few weeks ago and this will be my first time using MagickaVoxel, so we'll see how this goes!

This is Bob. Bob is a hoarder.

I'm maybe in

Super late post, but here’s the base code I might use and the tools I plan to use:

Better late than never

After 4 hours of struggle, a monster hunter break and more buffalo wings than is comfortable, we've finally landed on making a game about a woman who hordes cats. Could you imagine the smell?

My Idea

I was thinking about making a game about programming in the 1980s. You need to store your games on floppy disks that run out of space easily. You can clean them up as each game comes with junk files that you don't need. You are required to pay for basic needs such as food and rent, but you also need money to publish games that can in turn generate an income for you (Of course you still need to buy more floppy disks so you can create more games).
