My first game.
I thought myself how to code (In C#), and hope to use this Jamfest to further improve my skill.

This is Roomy, and roomy likes having room. He does not like running out of space.

Game concept is that you are growing little plants in your apartment with very limited space. It's definitely not about weed.
Around 3 hours ago I got started on my entry. I decided to make it a challenge for myself, but to still make it sort of easy. So I decided to go with C# and to make it a text based game without any libraries.
I thought the idea I had was brilliant, a simple world, where you can go around and pick things up, and you can craft more advanced items with the things you find. But there's a catch. Every time you craft something, the world size decreases, sounds fun right?
Well it's a little hard to implement in the standard C# console so I've been spending probably 80% of the 3 hours on a way to get inputs, do logic, and draw... at the same time, in the console.
And I've finally succeeded so starting to get down to business. I can't wait to see what the rest of you guys are doing, but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.
Good luck, and a continued good night to you all. ;)

Matching a target shape with boxes of the appropriate color (in this case, pink) causes the boxes to solidify and become unpushable. You'll have to be careful how you put the boxes together, so you don't run out of space! ;)
I try to jot down some brainstorming ideas for each of the themes in the final round of voting, just to get the creative juices flowing and give me a jump start on making something. I saw the theme at 6:00 PM local time and checked my document.
This was the only theme that I didn't come up with a single interesting idea.
Now it is 3.5 hours later and still no ideas. :frowning:
SKEK just got home time to start
Almost 4 hours since Jam fire.
I just completed drawing and programming laboratory (first) scene.

At first, I didn't really like this theme, but after reading other people's posts I started getting inspired and now have a game idea! Not sure if it will be unique, and its the biggest game idea that I have ever attempted to do in a game jam, so I hope I can finish it.
(Its gonna be a metroidvania)
(edit: actually, now that I think about it, it may not count as a metroidvania because of some missing elements, lets just say its inspired by metroidvania games like ori)

Bald people are the best!
Idea is to make enemies slowly block off areas of the map while you avoid them or something.
I thought about making the map connect locations automatically but then I realized it's probably faster to just do it by hand.
Next I should make actually blocking off locations work and then add some sort of combat.
It's sped up a little for some reason...

3.35h since the Jamfire. We got the idea, a local competitive clear out of your dump with your truck to send the rubbish to your enemy. Simple and clear (hehe). We got some 3D models like the truck, and some kind of trash. And about the scripting we got controls. Time to sleep!

Right, so I totally forgot about Ludum Dare because I've been busy. Haven't got anything yet, and I have just figured out an idea.
So much stuff to do, so many hours lost. Last time I used Unity, and I just recently started learning Unreal Engine 4. And since this will be a perfect time to test out what I've learned, and will learn even more in the process, I'll be using Unreal Engine 4.
Hope I'll get something done, something playable atleast :-)
I'll be starting when I wake up, as it has gotten very late. Just setting up the project before I go to bed.
So I decided to work on a shooter for the theme "Running out of space" I am calling it "OVER KILL" for now for obvious reasons. Let's see how this goes
All programming, art, and music will be done in Pico-8. Nothing else really more to it than that. This is gonna take a while because of my very slow thought process when I program stuff (as you can see below). My slow typing doesn't help, either.

I thought up some big ideas and then cut them wayyyy down. I got the meat and potatoes of my game done quicker than I thought I was going to. Now I really want to dive into some art since I ALWAYS run out of time to do make some in game jams(when making 3d games). After art and sound/music I just need to design some levels. Any extra time I can devote to adding some more mechanics I cutt back on. Feels good, time to go on a run!
On UK time so it is 3am here. Going to get a few hours sleep before tomorrow and a fresh day of making!

Goodnight all
So I decided to work on a platformer that I'm calling "OVER KILL" for obvious reasons. Let's see how this goes, also this is my first jam so :3

I have an idea
I finally came up with an idea, which I think I'm happy with. I did come up with 4 and wish I had the time to possibly integrate the 4 ideas into 1 game, but I probably won't have time. I haven't done this type of game before so it's definitely going to be a challenge for me to do this for the first time.
Since the game will have it's source available on GitLab I may as well share the idea.
You start in a procedurally generated room with 3 doors (This stays consistent throughout the game) where all 3 doors go to a different room. Each room will have it's own way of filling up the space of the room, either by water, smoke, and something else that I might come up with during it's development.
Anyway, enough blogging, and start developing!
