Amazing themes
I know this is highly subjective, but I love these!

I know this is highly subjective, but I love these!

I've lost count but I'm back at it, also I refuse to post a screenshot of my votes. The new site seems to be working so well, I remember the first switch and the supporting pov thing, this outcome surpasses what most of us wished for I believe. The existence of this community makes me happy. Let's go make some awful/awesome games and rejoice!
This is my first game jam. Not gonna lie, a bit nervous. I am "ok" at making games, but still, I can rarely remeber debug.log, so don't expect me to be top 10 but if I manage to release my game, well first I actually released it and second, pls play it XD. Anyways, I'm In!
(Also I know I used a 100 commas in that sentence)
Last July I told myself that the Ludum Dare was "soon," and now I can't stop anticipating the event. This is my second compo, but my third Ludum Dare overall. Hopefully my art and music skills have improved since April!
As for themes, my favorites from the first batch are Shelter, Side effects, and Seasons.
I had a crazy idea. What if we all put ads on our game and donated the money to charity or the event itself. Maybe we could even give it to the winner.
Technical issues, my mental health and poor timing ruined last LD. This time I'm going to smash it. Bring on LD45!
This will be my second time participating in the compo. I really enjoyed the last event. The feedback is great and I love playing other games! All in all the community is very welcoming to newcomers. Thanks!
The only thing which annoyed me though was the spam on the front page in the following weeks. Some people were spamming countless "Play my game!" post. Interesting stuff like Post Mortems completely drowned in the flood of self-promotion.
But, I don't blame them! It's expected and it seems to be tolerated.
But how do you feel about that? Is this just the way it is? Did it annoy you? Or is it something which should me moderated more? Maybe there could be some kind of post limit?
It's just, I love Ludum Dare and the community. But the spam on the frontpage was really irritating... Or maybe I'm just too sensitive?
With just one week remaining I figured I would load up Twine 2 and dig up a previous text-based Ludum Dare warm-up named GRID GAME (a working title that simply stuck) and finish implementing the combat system I had begun last year.
With combat came hit-points and healing, and with healing came a method of crafting med-packs. Then some status-based text colouring to make things a little easier to read. All in all it's a very simple game, but I am happy with my efforts.
I'd love some feedback if you do happen to give it a go. Spelling and grammar error reports are also most welcome.

Ironically, with our Ludum Dare entries I am responsible for art rather than coding (with good reason too, I can barely code my way out of a soap bubble - this whole thing is the opposite equivalent to Programmer Art) so this warm-up was more a mindset thing than setting me up for graphics.
I was thinking of partaking in Inktober too, perhaps that will get my doodle juices flowing, wrong as it sounds.
EDIT: Here's how it looks in Twine 2.

Normally I'm a game engine developer but might give something different a try, might even give my vulkan game engine a whirl. Looking forward to it! This is my third game jam but the first for 2 or so years (sadly my old account and entries were lost). Probably going for the compo to fit this into the weekend.
Best of luck to everyone, can't wait to see some excellent creations.
This will be my first LD. I've been meaning to have a go at this for years, but never quite got around to it before.
Recently I started playing with the Godot engine, and so far have found it pretty quick to learn and easy to use. This gave me the push I needed to decide to enter this time.
Whether I'll finish anything, who knows? But I'm certainly going to try!
My family know that I will be busy all weekend, and I've been tinkering with Godot trying to de-risk as much as I can so that I can hopefully spend most of the time doing productive stuff rather than trying to figure out how things are supposed to work!
Looking forward to the start...
I guess I always thought the time would come. After missing my first LD since 2014 last time due to having a robotics competition the same week and being very tired, I thought it was just a one off. This Saturday I will be having my first mid-term for my hardest course this term, so I don't know if I will be able to make it (since when do they do tests on Saturdays). As well, I have been swamped with school work lately (I am not used to this as it is my first year in university).
Anyway, I'll try to do something after that. Maybe I'll have time to submit something for the jam.
If I'm in, it will be the same stuff as always.
Language and Library: Java with Lib-GDX
Graphics: Paint.NET, Piskel, Inkscape
Music: Probably nothing, maybe LMMS
SFX: Might use SFXR if I have time or just Audacity.
Good luck everyone!
These themes are amazing! Scaringly though, I’m not sure I can even complete some of them in 2 days, so I had to downvote seenoevil I mean…they’re there for the challenge…right?

Does voting 0 do something different from just not voting on a theme?
Im hopefully in this one, tools likely to be used are unity, photoshop, blender
As always I'm wasting my life away working on and trying to make games using my own custom engine. This time is different though.*
* Really it is. Ask me how!
Aseprite, Ableton, Reason, various hardware synths.
Looking for an 8-bit pixel artist (NES/SNES) to team up with!
So I'm in and this time I'm branching out from my previous entries. Normally, I write my code in Java and work on a two person team. This time my partner can't make it so I'm going solo and I'm going to try out using Unity, Gimp, Krita, and anything else I can to get a game up and running. I'm excited to see what this Ludum Dare's theme will be. Best of luck to everyone!
This will be the second time that I enter as part of a team, after working with @adafheyesh for the last LD. But this time we will also have an artist - @quack-doctor!
I'm looking forward to seeing what we can make.
You know that code that appears next to the theme voting options? The GGJ-2011 thing? Yeah I have no clue what it is. It wasn’t present during the last round of voting and now it is and it’s like “hey what’s your deal little oval?”. If somebody could explain what it is and if it serves a purpose that would be really great.
