Ludum Dare 45 October 4–7, 2019

Once More

This one will span a family holiday, so we'll see how much time I actually have. But it would feel like a seriously missed opportunity when my goal for the year is to learn all the things if I didn't at least participate in this jam.

Of course, I didn't log in until now so that I can claim some innocence in the theme chosen. But hey, we all have fun working around and against the voting results anyway, right?

The thought right now is that there should be cool art and decent music to whatever I make, since those are the things I've been practicing. On the other shoe (that's the saying, right?) I've been completely ignoring Unity for the last year plus since I last made a lose/win state game. Just gotta get the code to function real quick so the decorations can matter.

Software: Blender, Photoshop, SunVox, Ink? Unity? JavaScript?

Hardware: Blue Yeti mic, Huion tablet, one laptop to rule them all, a sore knee and probably the vestiges of the cold I just caught

I'm ready!

The previous three Ludum Dares I have been in had not been good. I had poor time management, and was not really sure what I was doing. This time I have got a good plan of orginisation, and at least a bit better team management. Good luck, everyone!

Can't Wait!

Oh boy, it's Christmas again!

I wasn't able to participate in the last LD, so I'm hyped even more.

I will be using these:

Engine: Adventure Game Studio (AGS) - Probably the last person in the galaxy using this.

Graphics: Photoshop

Sound: Haven't decided yet. Any tips for someone who has literally zero sound/music knowledge. Something easy to work with.

Im in

New to the game jam scene but cant wait to dive on in.

Guess who's in

Missed last LD due exams. Sure I'll be free for this one. Will use either Unity+C# or Java+Slick2D. Good luck people.

First time joining!

Tried joining the past couple times but couldn't think of any games that fit the themes.

This time, I'm joining with two friends, @adam-crofts and @reecyboi. We are all programmers with slight skill in the other aspects of game dev, so not too sure how to divvy up the work just yet.

We are using: Game Engine - Unity.
Modelling (if 3d) - Blender.
Graphics - Paint.net/Photoshop.
Music - Bosca Ceoil.

This will be the first game jam we do as University students studying game dev.

Good luck everyone!

I'm in !!

Best of luck to everyone !

HERE IT COMES!

Super excited, this is going to be my second Ludum Dare, had a ton of fun last time. This time, I'm going to be doing the compo "to test my abilities"! Will be having a fun get-together with a few other devs at uni to do some brainstorming at the beginning of the jam. Remember to sleep well guys and happy jamming!

AAAAA Mandatory I'm in

I'm in! I'm finally able to participate this time :p

Hi

This is my 2nd jam, teaming with 2 friends this time, using :

  • love2d
  • paint.net / pinta
  • sfxr
  • imagination 🌈

Good luck and have fun everyone :)

I'm in - besides Game A Week Challenge

If the theme gives me a good idea - i am in for sure :) This time it is special for me as i create 2 games this week. My First game is for my current "Game A Week" Challenge (Read more about it here - https://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/RamiIsmail/20140226/211807/GameAWeekGettingExperiencedAtFailure.php). I am now in Week 6 and it is a great experience. Well the only thing i missed is feedback but this is where Ludum Dare come in.

Thats why i love Ludum Dare. It is my 7th time i am here and hopefully "making shit" :joy: .

So this will be my second game this week. I Plan to make my weekly game simple and finished on friday.

So i hope to see great games again from you all.

Here we gooo!!!

ok, so back again once more. Let's see what are the themes this time and what I can come up with during the weekend :)

I might be in!

I've been following Ludum Dare for ... 10? 15 years? And have only been able to do it twice so far, due to dadding responsibilities. My wife has agreed to solo parent this weekend, and so (THEME WILLING), I'm tentatively in for LD45!

((prays to theme gods for something inspiring))

Might join in

If I can find some time this weekend, I'll try to throw something together.

  • Unity
  • Visual Studio
  • Photoshop
  • Bosca Ceoil
  • Bfxr

Better Late than Never :)

Whoa, lost track of the months and it's already this time again! I'm even late in starting theme voting, but I'll try my best to get something submitted this go round!

Tools I'll be using: Either GMS or Godot, most likely Godot SFXR Bosca Ceoil

I know I have to work at my IRL job, so I may only have 2 days for the JAM entry instead of 3, but I'll do my best! I missed 2/3 of the last one and my entry was terrible because of a sinus infection, but I have been working on learning Godot and it looks promising so far!

GOOD LUCK everyone!

I made a game in less than 72 hours to practice for the real thing this weekend

Last year my participation in Ludum Dare 42 was less than satisfactory due to poor time management and large ideas not suited to the limited nature of the jam. This year I have resolved to not repeat my mistakes.

I made this game called "DOUBLE ENTITY" this weekend by generating a random game jam theme on http://letsmakeagame.net/game-jam-theme-generator/, which gave me the theme TWO WORLDS.

Check it out over here and let me know what you think: https://thesmilingdev.itch.io/double-entity screenshot3.jpg

Anyway I hope we do better this year and good luck to everyone else participating!

One comment

We are having decent theme suggestions (some good, some bad), but then I saw this in the round 3:

Games that shouldn't be in first person done in first person

I just wanted to tell you that I'm going to use a simple 2D Javascript game engine I wrote. I really would not like to spend the rest of this week writing a 3D WebGL engine, just in case (well, I have one already, but it's not very general purpose - I could make it one, but it would still take some time).

Can't Wait

I am in and I am excited to make something 2D after working professionally in VR for the last two years. I do have a wedding to go to on Saturday Evening / Night so I need to keep my scope small. Good luck everyone can't wait to see all the games!

Which engine/framework you will use ?

I will participate for the 7th time but for the first time with Unity, previous LD I was using Phaser, but I think now is time for try something new, and I am very curios what will use other participants.

Thank you for your vote :) Because even you will see results.
