Ludum Dare 37 December 9–12, 2016

Probably a good stopping point

I finished all controls, fully usable with Gamepad or Keyboard!! All that’s left for Programming AI, Difficulty, Enemy Spawning and all that stuff. Hopefully Day 2 will go towards Music, Sound Effect, Art and polishing everything, or at least that’s the Game Plan.Probably going to sleep soon, but I want to continue working for a while longer…

The last standing got the room !

I’m in !
This will be a game about “Bar slides” using the GameOVerre game controller !

Wonder what is Bar slide ? Lucky Luck barman show you the trick :

It will be a multiplayer game, need to pick your glass and drink in the right time, and the last one standing got the room. 😉

We’re In

We’re four, 3 graphists & 1 Dev! We’ll work on a game about a cosmonaute who want to go back in his living room quickly because he doesn’t want to miss his favourite show. We’ll post graphics as soon as we’ve done some!

To keep you entertain, here is a very sexy screen of our developper working with place holders. Stuning.

So many ideas..so little time

Got the idea! Wait, this one is better! Oh no this is the one…. oh well ¬__¬

Late i’m in!

So we are late, but we will be able to join the party just after launch.

We are a group of 5, tools we are gonna use:

-Construct 2

-Spriter

-Illustrator/Photoshop

-Sketchup

-Google Office/Drive

-LabChirp / CGMusic

-Wave Editor / Audacity

6 hours have passed by almost without any result %_%

After 6hrs I’ve only managed to make a static sprite for the main character and some light/screenshake effects 😀
Here’s the GIF: https://i.gyazo.com/341a186543667373e8d431c463135fcf.gif
Even though I haven’t done much, I’m still pretty happy atm.
P.S. The GIF image is 2 times slower than the actual game.

Liking the look of it so far!

Intro sequence

Ever wondered what it looks like to get locked into a missile control room?

test

Please ignore the grain effect, it’s just a quick render and then cheaply converted to GIF :)

GOT THE IDEA!

It’s almost 12 Hours and I just found my idea. It’s like Wolfied but instead of enemies there is household items floating around and you need to cut out rooms with specific idems for each customer (Its a HOTEL!) in the line. I wish I could explain more but gotta go fast. Good luck to everyone!

I am ill and I am in.

Had to cancel my big Ludum Dare plans due to falling ill. I will see if I can’t make a nice Twine short story. It’s about a blind girl that is blessed by the divine and kept in her room. She can hear the prayers of the devout and can see things that are unseen.

Pain is the lens through which we see reality.

Hello! My name is Ricardo Fernandez. I am a musician, composer, sound designer and music producer. I have specialized in soundtrack and sound design for movies, games and general audio for over 16 years. I would like to offer you my work with the track and sound effects for this Jam. If you’re interested, I’m here!

One last thing

Just remembered that LD is today, i’m a bit behind but i think i am in.

Tools:

HTML5

Maybe photoshop?

(Yeah not much)

I have started!

Finally i’ve found the idea for my “one room” game.

So i’ve work alot, cuz started out from paper scretch)

I’ll be using Unity3D, piskel and some audio editor.

Good luck to all!

5 hours later and.. derp

So.. It’s my first Ludum Dare and I realise now that I am a complete moron. I was totaly unprepared and besides having spent an hour working on a game conpect, then scratching everything and doing something else I realise that my knowledge in Unity is far less than I thought.

I need a creative break.. I have nearly nothing set up yet and while I need the break I rethink my strategy. All I have right now are placeholder Graphics and a room layout. As I am not happy at all about it I might go ahaed and redo everything again later or finish everything without propper graphics. So not happy at the moment about myself.

It’s always like this, don’t worry! Calm down, make yourself a cup of tea, relax and start again. You are plenty of time! :)

Making some Artistic Progress

Title. 😀

Mockup

I can never make my own palette, but I guess today is my day.

Ah, the joys of LD.

Looking cool” Like the minimalistic look with strong shapes 😀

First progress

Almost 5 hours in, and what have i done? Only basic player moving and shooting in lifeless test cubes. So slow, as always…

Bring here the enemies!

Progress

Idea: done

Scribbles: done

Checked for a working IDE: done

Decided to make a JAM entry, to reuse old code: done

Scared off the Feature Creep: not done

Lunch: also not done, but I’m doing that now :)

Ideas

OK so I’ve managed to whittle my ideas down from 7 possibilities to just 3… well 4 if you count 2 mechanically different versions of the same idea.

It’s still quite a lot but I’m thinking most of the ideas share enough in common that if I choose one of those and find it less than fun to make/play I could probably switch to another.

The ideas are:

Space Dock Controller

V1. Handle requests for docking to avoid ships crashing and make sure they can fit in their designated dock

V2. Handle requests for boarding in a similar style to Papers Please

OK. Just decided on getting rid of one, the idea and mechanics weren’t really gelling.

Mundane Life of a Space Hauler Captain

You’re locked in your life-cabin cockpit, a living room sized space. Basically a very simple Elite Dangerous where you can get up out of the seat but you still can’t leave.

EDIT: Just realised V1 of the Space Dock Controller is literally simulating the life of the people that grant docking permission in Elite Dangerous. I guess I have ED drilling its way out of my head for some reason.

In for the fifth time!

I am in.  Only idea in my head was a puzzle game, so I am doing a puzzle game.

Making *some* progress

I’m doing just fine, still working on the level design and starting the multiplayer system (gonna’ make an online game).

Here’s a cool teddy bear in a children’s room: (A screenshot from my little game)

Why doesn’t the teddy bear have any hands ?
