Ludum Dare 37 December 9–12, 2016

All right. Turns out I have a problem.

I have been coding a bit reckless and now it turns out I need to somewhat rewrite all of that. COOL! But after a break.
(cri everitm)

Made a level editor

I am implementing everything almost from scratch (raw OpenGL, but of course with some libraries like Stb and ImGui). I have implemented basic mesh editor and basic level editor.

Live updates of source code are on GitHub: https://github.com/zapolnov/ludum_dare_37

Now it’s time to craft some levels :)

I’m In

Hope it’s not too late but I’m in. I’m extremely new to game dev, but I’ve worked on two games so far. One I only did the background art for and the other was an endless runner type game that I had to create all myself for a web design class at my university this quarter. I’m taking on the challenge and entering the jam!

Just starting

I think I’ll take a stab at this. Hopefully I’ll keep at it this time and not trail off after a few hours. If I make it, it’s going to be a (optionally) VR game for GNU/Linux and windows, written in C++ with OpenGL for rendering, and using a ton of my free software libraries, and random code ripped from my other projects; see http://github.com/jtsiomb and http://nuclear.mutantstargoat.com/hg.

Here’s a completely pointless doodle/concept of the One Room I want to make for this:

Trying to do my first Platformer

Really hellish code but it’s  sorta working

You can play more recent thing here, but I don’t guarantee new uploads too often.

I thought it will be fast and easy work. I was wrong =\

New Update (12 hrs passed by)

Here’s what I’ve added:
(A new laggy GIF here)

1) Slow-motion (core idea of the game)
2) One foe
3) Different particles
4) Background

And some other stuff which I don’t remember now.

Welcome to my Twitter (twitter.com/Khud0Steam) and VK (vk.com/khud0steam)

Things are coming along…

Decided on a “one room” dungeon shooter a la Binding of Isaac. Got a majority of the mechanics in place, time to add more enemies, weapon upgrades, and obstacles! I can’t wait to spend some time on art later this evening. Keep grinding everyone!

Reflections!

SSR-LD37

I was supposed to code gameplay, but somehow I got distacted by screen space reflections and ended up tweaking myself a shiny room.

The game is about siblings sharing  a room and fighting for space. You color the room with toys to mark your territory.

Migraine

Woke up to a fabulous migraine this morning.. Now’s definitely not the time for that.
Hopefully coffee and meds will kick it.

Hourglass Collector. Update 1.

Hey guys. Seems like platformers are our best weapon. First steps are done.

Adjusting basic platformer mechanics with placeholders.
P.S. Tiles with BoxColliders2D in unity have hidden superpowers. Don’t try to slide another Box Collider along them. sigh…

Some basic stuff still, but progressing

Working out a rather annoying/lethal bug when using the Gamepad, but other than that finished 1 out of 5 potential types of enemies. Time is running out though, hopefully I’m able to implement everything I have planned!

Cockroach Reaction #1

Hello everyone,

This is my first Ludum Dare compo :-)

I decided to create a small logic game using Java and libGDX. Bfxr will be used for sound effects and GIMP for graphics.

Cockroaches inveded your kitchen room! Will you defeat them?

No Man Hero

There is a LOT of work here…

For now, i’ve already finished the charachter movement and a part of a player’s logic.

But still need to work out the UI system and a scripts.

Here the little sneak peak 😉ludum_screen

Wip

I spent pretty much the whole day fighting with things that didn’t want to work, but I now have finished the main assets!!

next I’ll start scripting the easy things and then the game core mechanics

So far I’m far ahead than i usually am during LD jams ^_^

which means i already dealt with the damn assets, and I can finally start programming, and start freaking out because the core mechanics are too complicated too implement ahha!

I dunno how I did it…

…But I forgot this weekend was Ludum Dare. Damn…

A couple minutes ago I  was like, “I wonder what’s going on in LD, wait…OMGNSOGFBASBGOJDFBGAOB”

That’s when I realised I messed up. Time to piece something together and hope for the best… :(

Good luck!

Area 1 finished!

I finally finished area 1! My game will be called “One room away from success” and it will be a puzzle game. I try to create the hardest puzzles that my 14 year old brain can think of, and i think this is going well.

Here are some screenshots:

Love the style of the walls :)

Effect and Cause: Our poor robot just can’t catch a break.

Even with time travel powers, our poor cute ninja robot of death can’t seem to catch a break. Here in the future he is accosted by an unruly soldier, so as he flips between the past and the future to overcome his path he finds that perhaps the Jurassic era is not so safe, either.

Can you tell which one of the sprites has been drawn by the artist, and the others by me? 😀

A nice little gif of our progress for today. SmartWill has clocked out for now, but I’ll be continuing after dinner, for a little while. Loving the ideas, as usual. Come say hi, if we stream (which we do, on and off)! Apologies for the low frame rate, file sizes and the like.
