Ludum Dare 37 December 9–12, 2016

I am in! (plus an open source workflow)

I am so happy that I actually get to participate in Ludum Dare this year because I’ve been in school for almost a full four years now and its taken up so much time around exams that I haven’t had any time to compete…
BUT THIS YEAR IS DIFFERENT! Because I don’t have crazy exams, but a few projects that are already wrapping up.

Anyway, during school I’ve found my favourite workflow, which is all free open source software that runs on Windows Mac and Linux. Not much but its what I’ll be using.

  • Gimp: 2D Graphics
  • Blender: 3D Graphics + Cutscenes
  • Godot: Game Engine
  • BFXR: Sound Effects
  • Audacity: Audio Editing
  • Linux Multi-Media Studio: dank beats yo (Music)

Good luck and have fun everybody!

I’m in post

I’ll be participating in a team with Lss40. We’ll be using GameMaker. I’m excited, it’s been a while!

In for LD37

Participating again for my 5th year in a row. Ready for another fun (and probably frustrating!) LD! Will be using unity.

I’M IN

This is a regular ‘im in’ post, nothing fancy)

Phaser, Ableton, Photoshop, Gonna try to stream btw…

I am SO in!

I am so ready for this LD. I’ll be using Unity as my engine, Blender for 3d models, 2d art will probably be a mix of Paint.net,  GIMP,  and Inkscape. Personally hoping for the fusion theme. It seems like you could get some really cool mechanics from that. Anyway, can’t wait to jam. Happy jamming everyone.

I’m In

I do most of my stuff in Unity3D these days, but depending on the theme, I may switch to a different toolkit just to spice things up a bit.  I’ll probably use LMMS for any audio since I’m on Linux anyways.  Best of luck to everybody, and most of all, have fun 😉

(Edit)

Full pipeline:

  • Unity 3D 5.4 (Wanted to use the new 5.5 but both the .deb and .sh installers are currently having difficulties under my distribution of Linux)
  • GIMP for all 2D graphics
  • Blender for 3D graphics (if applicable)
  • LMMS for audio

I’m in!

Super hyped for this one. A friend is coming to my place for the weekend, using some of my gear. We’re both still in the compo though, making separate entries. I’ve been exploring a variety of tech recently, so I’m still unsure about what I’ll use. What ever is best for the job I suppose.

Tools

  • IDE: Atom or VS Code
  • Language: Haxe or JS
  • Library/Engine: Kha, Luxe or vanilla JS with HTML5.
  • Music: FL Studio most likely.
  • Sfx: Mic, sfxr, audacity, etc.
  • Timelapsing with chronolapse
  • Art: Pyxeledit, Affinity Designer and likely some Photoshop
  • Music for listening: https://open.spotify.com/user/mixerman123/playlist/3pfj3YPgc8i3MclYaWC8I0
  • Backups: Github with Gitkraken / Git in terminal
  • Screenshot sharing: Greenshot
  • Social: Tweetdeck (@5Mixer) and IRC (Hexchat)
  • Brainstorming: Whiteboard, paper, net.
  • GIF Capture: Licecap
  • Hosting: My server on digital ocean or Itch.io
  • Better Windows Terminal: Conemu
  • Level editor: An image (red == tile1 etc), tiled or an array in code lol.

See you on the new site!

We are in. But….

Hey,

this will be the second Ludum Dare for me and my friend as we are joining the Jam. Really excited! The last one was a lot of fun, I personally learned a lot. So I am looking forward to this experience :)

However, we have a problem. Our “audio guy” is not able to be part of this Jam so we are currently looking for someone who would join us.

If you are interested or just want to know more informations, you can check out our previous/first Ludum Dare entry and contact me on mato2691997@gmail.com

Thank you! Have a nice day :)

We are three Brazilian students (or are we?). We hope to enjoy this jam, learn a lot, and have fun!

WE really like the LOVE2D framework, but perhaps will try out TermLoop.

HowTo dynamic grid in unity, before the ludum dare 37

Watch my howto tutorial in making a dynamic grid in unity. The cells are created at run time and the grid is modifiable.

I’m in too

My first (real) LD! I’m thinking I’d like to make something in Javascript, but since I don’t know where to host stuff, I’ll probably end up using Scratch instead.

GitHub Pages is a pretty good html/javascript hoster. It is free and they give you a subdomain (your-username.github.io)

I’m in (With newfound skills)!

I’m BACK! Decided to try LD37 for fun.

Language: Shell script, C and mostly command line stuff

Tools: Linux operating system (I’m gonna modify the operating system to create a hacking game)

This is gonna be interesting…

Welcome to **Ludum Dare 37**

:astonished: Hey everybody!

Final Round Theme Voting is live! Head over here to cast your vote:

Holy cow! New website! OMG!

Ha, it's almost a website.

Many of the features you'd expect probably don't work yet. Why run an event at all with an unfinished website? Well, there's nothing quite like a deadline to get things done, am-i-rite? Have you heard of this thing called Ludum Dare?

I'd recommend reading some of the later posts to get a better idea of what's going on, and what to expect. It wont be pretty, and it's already been a little rough, but it's getting there one commit at a time.

But before I move on, I need to give a shoutout to @stormburpee. It's thanks to him we the nice fancy countdown clock. The clock was also the first major contribution to the Ludum Dare open source project on GitHub. That's not to say the Toolchain is ready for prime time. The things he had to deal with are pretty nuts. But things are starting to get things cleared up. Right now, focus on game making. You can join me doing website making another day. :sunglasses:

Keynote by @sheepolution

Finally! I originally promised @sheepolution he'd get to do the August Ludum Dare keynote, but it didn't seem fair to impose my promise on those that ran the August event. But now that I have returned, it's time to make things right. It's kenote time!

That's it for now. We'll see you Friday.

Composer/Sound Designer looking for team

Hey, i’m a chiptune composer/producer, but i can also switch styles a bit to fit other members of a team.
I’m looking for a team to join, since games without code and art are pretty rare. I’d gladly help you with your game idea, and maybe even make it even better with my ideas/music/sfx.
