LD22 December 16–19, 2011

In again

The last Time I tried ludum dare I finished. I had a buggy mess of a game, but paradox would have released it. This time I may be entering the compo or the jam, not sure yet, depends if the person who I’m meant to be jamming with appears. If not, I’m going to try for the compo.

I will be using game maker 8, probably windows sound recorder, ms paint (feel the love for paint) and anything else I can get my paws on.

Good luck to my fellow Dareists.

I’m in!

Crunch at work, but I will try to make SOMETHING, at least design and art wise since that is were I can improve most. I’m going for the game jam.

Tools:

– Custom made engine (FenrirEngine)
– GIMP
– Blender

I’m in.

Everything I did during LD21 was dumb, hopefully I can do better this time.
I thought I should stream again. Even if no one watches, that fact that someone can see what I’m doing at any time might make me less likely to slack off. :)
I will stream all my work on at http://www.justin.tv/metaknight3000

Tools:

  • Gamemaker 7
  • bfxr / Goldwave
  • MSPaint / GraphicsGale
  • pxtone Collage

I’m ready

I’ll be doing Ludum Dare, pretty sure I’m going to end up using HTML5 and canvas, if not WebGL. We’ll see!

I’m In, maybe

Hopefully, I’ll be able to do the Ludum Dare, as long as my schedule permits me to do so. If I am able to, I’ll be using Game Maker and sfxr.

After some 3.5 hours of work, I’ve at least got the core running..

For some reason I decided to really limit myself technically. The screen is 160 x 120 pixels, and the only available graphics is drawing four color 8×8 pixels sprites. Each color index can be one of 240 different colors in each sprite, and the sprites can be flipped along the x and/or the y axis.

(Click the applet, then use the arrow keys)
((No gameplay yet))

The idea is to make sort of a 2d Minecraft or a harvest moon clone, where you wake up on some shore and have to do the best you can with the tools you find on the island.

I’m In

I’m in Ludum Dare 22. I will be using:

  • Unity 3D
  • Photoshop
  • Sculptris
  • Blender
  • SFXR
  • Many others that may come in handy

Doing Ludum Dare

I’m doing it along with a friend (Kinxer). We’ll be using Flash. We’ve never actually made a flash game, though, so we probably won’t finish. Oh well. Best of luck to everyone!

My workspace

A lot of you guys are uploading pictures of yours work-spaces so I decided to put up mine too.

Hello LD!

This is my first time in the competition 😀

I’m excited and I hope I can finish a good game!

Tools:

  • Flash Develop
  • Flixel
  • Gimp, Paint.NET or Gale
  • Sfxr or Bfxr
  • FamiTracker or Craptracker II
  • Dame (if I need it)

I have a very small framework for this:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21897708/Framework.rar

It has a menu state with 2 buttons and a play state with a player and platforms (in case I need them).

Noticias curiosas

I’m in!

I’ll give this the old college try, even though I won’t have much time to work on it.

Go for it! Slick is pretty easy to use, I used it for my first LD, LD19. Be careful about execution speed though, you may have to reduce it from 1000 tics/second (the default) to get acceptable performance. I don’t remember how I did it, but it will mess with your delta timing on everything else.

i’m in?

Everyone is doing these.  So now I am too.

In case it was in question, the novice developer known as A-Type will be participating in the 22nd Ludum Dare event.  He will be employing the combined powers of XNA Game Studio 4.0, Audacity, and Paint.NET.  He may not finish.

Oh, it’s on.

Three of us are going to be taking part in this years Jam.

We’ll be using:

Flash Professional
Photoshop
3D Studio Max
and probably PixelBlipz if we can’t find a real human to do our music.

For Those About to Rock. We Salute You.

Le workspace

Yep, the place where all the magic will happen.

And so the adventure begins

Looks like I can’t stay away once more.

This time I’ll be coding my entry in C++ using SFML to handle graphics and sound.  Last time I did my entry in Blitz Basic and that was fun but not particularly educational; I’m hoping by using a language I’m somewhat less conversant in I will get more from the experience.

I have a really basic game template set up, with a main loop and a window.  I’ve tested the game input and it seems pretty robust.  Looking forward to a theme like “alone” or “time travel” and hopefully not one like “kittens.”

My base libs and tools

I went from scratch last time, but this time I want to use some stuff I’ve been working on at home.  It’s a XNA bsp engine from the good old days!  It is mostly a port of Genesis 3D with a bit of borrowing from Q2, so both licenses probably apply if you wanted to use it for something outside ludum dare.  (both are open source of some sort or another)

Anyway it’s buggy and hastily written and not well commented, and rather out of date, but maybe someone will find it useful besides me 😀

Something’s Gotta Give

I will enter this ludum dare, this will be the sixth time I enter, but so far I have only been successful in two of them, lets see how this goes, 6th time is the charm goes the saying right??? right??? (if this start sounds familliar, this was the same way I anounced I was in last time, also a failure :-))

I will use:

  • Engine: Artemis framework and some of our libraries animation4j, commons-gdx, resourcesmanager
  • Language: Java
  • Graphic libraries: libgdx using lwjgl as the desktop backend
  • IDE/Editor: Eclipse
  • 3D Modeling and Animation: Sculptrix and Blender
  • Images: Gimp, Inkscape
  • Sound Effects: Sfxr
  • Sound Processing and Recording: Audacity
  • Music: Undecided.

I hope to get my games running on the desktop (win, linux, mac) and on android (thanks to the awesome libgdx).

You can see other entries and other games at our blog – http://blog.gemserk.com

Good luck to everyone

I’m in!

Second time. Hopefully I can finish this time.
I’ll be using:
Java
Photoshop
Paint
and I might use Milky Tracker towards the end if I have time.

Alright!

Finally got custom fonts working for Allegro… been working on this like all day.

The competition is ALMOST HERE! LESS THAN ONE HOUR LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG
