LD22 December 16–19, 2011

I’m in

This will be my second attempt at ludem dare, hope to finish this time.

Tools:

language: c

art: gimp, inkscape

music: audacity, tuxguitar, midikeyboard.

libraries: opengl, openal, freeglut, freealut and EngieBits (a framework being developed mostly by a friend and minimally by me) https://github.com/edgezors/Engiebits. I may just write everything from scratch if i’m feeling brave.

I’ll likely be using nehe.gamedev.net as a reference, and I will be using the opengl and openal api as references as well

I’m in (first Ludum Dare!)

First Ludum Dare ever!

I’m only giving myself 24 hours to complete my game though. Still have one more final exam (COEN 317 Microprocessor Systems!) left next week and I pretty much have to learn everything from scratch.

Still trying to figure out which tools to use, I definitely want to try something new this time, i.e. not XNA.

Top candidate right now is Python + Pygame , which I’ve never done, but it’s Python!

Fallback plan could be GameMaker, which I’ve never done either, but might be the better option since I’m only giving myself 24 hours to finish the game.

I’ll post again once the theme is announce, at which point I’ll have to finalize my tools choice.

In Which newton64 Attends His Firste Ludum Dare

Hey, first time Darer, first time poster. Not sure of the proper protocol, but my sensors indicate such a blog-word is in order.

For LD22, I’m working in Orx (http://orx-project.org/), to which I have become accustomed in a few of my older games (http://newton64.ca/games/).

In the course of said games, I have also developed my own little OrxFramework (http://newton64.ca/games/jams/ld22/OrxFramework.zip), which essentially just handles state transitions, &c. Hopefully that qualifies as full disclosure.

The hour approacheth.

Who Dares Wins.

cheers.

I just woke up, and I’m in

It’s 2h15 a.m in France.

I just woke up, and I’m going to the office of my company where we are going to spend the weekend with Gib, Ano & others.

It’s my second ludum dare (my first was in August). I’m going to use :

Development : Unity
Graphic : Photoshop
Sound : Sfxr & Otomata

I’m going to grab some croissant. See ya!

Also, I will be using my iPad for drawing concept stuff

Second LD post for the newly named Team Helmet

We are here and mostly awake (though we have lost an artist) here in Oxford for LD 22. We are having a practise session before heading to bed just after the announcement (you can dream better ideas!) and look forward to sharing all of our tales on the blog

Set up and ready!

Be interesting to see what other Jam teams are out there!

Team Helmet are:

Cap’n Royles – Rocking a MacBook pro, with Flash Builder 4.5, Flixel and a fridge full of tifin.

Ross Vandereux – With his Windows XP (tsk tsk), Flash Builder 4.6, Flixel and GHD’s

Baron Von Johnson – With his Mac Mini (almost too wee!), Graphics Gale (Bootcamp!), Wacom, Photoshop and two monitors that show the same thing

Ian Visnoth 2nd – With a stolen iMac, Illustrator (!!!!???), Photoshop, Wacom, and a terrible South African accent!

I’m In

First time on this competition, seems like tons of fun! Good luck everyone!

My Toolkit:

-Flash

-Photoshop

-Jeskola Buzz

-sfxr (maybe)

Live stream

I’m also going to be livestreaming the entire process (this includes me sleeping on my keyboard and eating waffles). So if you want to give feedback, troll or just hang around with a couple of other peeps there right now, be sure to join.

Live stream: Zapaman on Livestream.com

Hourly screenshoots on twitter, using #ScreenshootSaturday!

setup

cmon!

Ready to go

I’m in too

I guess I’m in too. Here are my tools: Now I need some sleep.

My workspace and two little distractions

Here is a picture of my cramped little workspace and the two balls of fur that will probably try to sabotage my programming.

WiB's Workspace

In like Flynn!

Hey fellas, I haven’t been able to do these recently due to pressing other matters that I won’t get into, but i’m totally glad to be able to do it again and can’t wait for this whole jazzamatazz to get started!
This time I will be using:

  • Flash via AS3 via FlashDevelop, using the flashpunk library and possibly the Box2D and Box2FP libraries.
  • Either Musagi or Reason 4 for music or procedurally generate it
  • BFXR for sound effects
  • Photoshop for art
  • Ogmo editor for levels if it fits.
  • Chronolapse and probably something else for community related habidashery

I totally hope Kittens wins because it’s hella rad and stuff!

Good luck and good luck gentlemen!

From Costa Rica with enthusiasm, I’m in!

I have been kinda nervous about this, but now I’m completely decided to participate in my first LD! For this I would be using:

-Unity

Unity SpriteManager scripts

Sprite Sheet Packer

-For music and sounds probably sfxr and musagi

-Maybe iTween if there is time

-And finally this horribly-written script that I’ll use as base for third person movement and camera ( didn’t have time to finish it: :< )

Hopefully the end result will not be as horrible. Time to have fun! Good luck to everybody!

Set teacups to stun – I’m in

Well then, I’m awake, it’s almost 2am and I have a kettle. Time to make a game, I think. My first ludum dare, not my first game jam. I’d be surprised if I came out of this with anything resembling a game, but you never know.

I’ll be working with Javascript/Html5 because that what I know and I know it good. Art and sound will likely be all primary colours and basic shapes so yay for that

I be in ^_^

I did a bit of Games Programming at Uni then switched to software dev. Looking forward to using this to learn more XNA

I’ve pulled some code + an editor out from a game I’m writing and put it online: https://bitbucket.org/Tarks/ludumdaretoolbox

Development : XNA/C#
Graphics : Photoshop
Sound : Sfxr
