Minimalism…

I got pretty upset when this theme was selected, since I barely knew what it really was…but I’m gettin’ into it…

-Backgrounds (*biomes*)

-Laser gun animation

-Enemies

-More obstacles

-Shop

-Death animation, and game over screen

-Menu

-Sound dev

I’m in!

Hello, my name is Brunodev and this is my second Ludum  entry.

I once again plan on doing the whole game engine on Flash, the art on Paint.NET and the sounds on Bfxr.

Good luck everyone!

Progress Update #1

Hi everyone, how are you all doing? Well I wasn’t really happy with the theme so I chose to make a horror-text-adventure, in which you have 10 seconds to act on the critical moments. The game is called Decisions and there is still a lot to be made and added.

Progress so far:

-Title screen

-Tutorial

-Basic Engine

-Basement, 1st floor

-Enemies

-Status: Sanity, Humanity and a Monster Indicator

-“Hurry” clock

To do list:

-2nd floor, 3rd floor.

-HighScores

-Sounds

Maybe to-do list:

-Unlockables

-Bosses

-Shop

Some screenies:

Well, back to coding, good luck everybody!

Progress Update #2

Hello everyone, the game is pretty much done. I’m kind of disappointed that the game ended up being even more short than I thought it would be. Even for a text adventure. But, oh well.

Here is the list of what I’ve done yesterday and today:

-Added boss battle.

-Added basement,1,2,3 floor.

-You can kill yourself.

-Sounds!

-Multiple endings!

-You can now rescue survivors!

Whats left:

-A LOT of bug fixing and synchronization.

-Maybe some art

Finnally done.

This got very far from what I’ve wanted to make and it also got pretty damn short. Still there it is.

Decisions is a very short horror text adventure made in less than 48h for Ludum Dare #27. Interact with the game with the SPACE key and the SHIFT key, remember that on the critical moments, you will only have ten seconds to decide. Have fun.

Good luck for the ones who are still coding!

I’m in

This is my third attempt at LD. Happily I was able to finish all my games so far, lets hope my luck continues.

I’ll be making the Engine on Flash, the art on Paint.NET and the sounds on Bfxr.

Good luck people!

LD29

I’m in!

I’m in! Let’s see if I can finish up my game again! I’ll be using Flash or C for coding, not quite sure yet, Bfxr for the sounds, Paint.NET for the art! Good luck everybody!

PS: I’m sad that “Breaking the rules” theme will win :(

Don’t worry, it won’t. =)

Progress Update #1

So, I was really excited with the theme not being “Breaking the rules” but an apparently nice theme. But when I actually started coding I realized that this was actually the most restrictive theme we ever gotten? Or maybe it’s just me xD.

Well I was able to pull out an Spelunky/roguelike game. Where you have to explore random generated caves for loot, with mobs chasing you, the deeper you are, the more dangerous the caves are. Still haven’t added any mobs but I will soon enough.

ludum1

I’m not really sure how deep the cave will be, but I’m planning it to be at least 10 floors in the game.

Cool!

Progress Update #2

So, after almost giving up on my game, I was able to save it and I’m almost done! If there’s something I learned in this Ludum Dare, is to plan, not like an EPIC plan, but to actually plan the basics/mechanics of the game before just start doing stuff on the heat of coding, that almost costed my ludum entry this time. And I had a lot of lost sleep. I’m awake since friday morning. But yeah I think things are starting to look better now:

Basic game finished!

What’s up everyone? Apparently switching to Java was the best thing I’ve ever done, I mean, yes I had some problems with collision detection, which sucks on Mobs. But I don’t care. I thought I wouldn’t be able to actually finish it, but I was able to, and with A LOT of spare time. Not counting all the breaks I took in mid development. It was quick, painless, slept a lot and I’m pretty satisfied with the results.

Core mechanics:

All you have to do is avoid mobs, and find in the world a magical scroll. Whenever you find one, the world will get unstable, and it will get more crazy with each scroll you collect. So it’s only one world, but it changes according to your actions. I got pixel to tiles, (almost) pixel perfect collision with tiles, music and sounds, several enemies with a weird aggro’ing AI and no collision detection to walls, but yeah, here’s some screenies:
