Epic Last Bottle of Milk – time for a break…

What a first day of LudumDare #28… Saw lot’s of great ideas. Can’t wait to play some of them by myself… but I need a break now :)

n- need m- more co- coffeee!

n- need m- more co- coffeee!

Story in short version:

You have to buy milk for “WorldsEndParty-Dinner”… You are going to the mall to buy that god damn milk. But the mall is full of xmas-infected people… and it is only one bottle milk left… Let’s do it… kill them, get the bottle and run as fast as you can… no zombie can hurt you more than your wife can, if you don’t bring home the milk.

Finished it – The Epic Last Bottle of Milk

Hello there!

Ludumdare #28 Compo was great. It was the 3rd time for me.

It was so funny!

While coding I watched hours of the ludumdare streamings. It was great to see that other people are having the same problems with time management ^^ But hey, after I deleted all the senseless features of my game… It progressed well… Now it has been done. I finished my 3rd game and I hope you will have fun for a few minutes. I’m looking forward to play as many games as possible over the holidays.

So here are the Resultsof my weekend: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-28/?action=preview&uid=17723

Hope to see you Guys in the Comments 😉 Greatings from germany (monday 2:39 a.m). Have a nice week, great holidays and a happy new year! Love Ya!

Eureka!

Hi there. Nice to be part of a LudumDare again. Hope all of you’re enjoying this weekend.

My idea is not finalized. Have to go to bed and lucid dreaming about it. Maybe there are possible better ideas for a 48h competition. But here is, what I have so far:

Name of the Game: WhatHappendToBetelgeuse.

Plot: Earth founded a colony at Betelgeuse hundred of years ago. Colonists were traveling via generation spaceship. Successfully they founded a colony. After years contact to Betelgeuse gets lost. What happend. After many years mankind was building a ship with a stardrive engine to be able to look after Betelgeuse and the lost colonists.

Mechanics: Star map is generated randomly. Your ship is starting at earth to reach Betelgeuse. But every turn ship will use power, food and integrity. If you will reach Betelgeuse, you have to visit asteroid fields, plantes and unknown entities on the m,ap to restock your resources and improve the skills of the crew. If there is no food, your crew will loose skill and die after some time. If your energy cells are empty your ship will not move and you’ll loose everything. If integrity is low your ship will use more energy per move and finally will be destroyed.

Thats it so far … here is a rapidly created concept image

Concept

Now I have to sleep. Hopefully I’ll be back at 10am MET for development and livestreaming. Bye and good night!

Yeah I’m in again

Hi there… It was a hard first night. I was working at my first idea as I recognized that the game is not funny… cause It’s boring as hell… So I decided to brainstorm again and yup, there was a planB… I worked for a few hours to get a first feeling by creating a playable demo… and… It was boring as Hell… Fail :(

As the result of my first 2 fails and that fact that time was running, I decided to quit this ludumdare. Maybe the next one is getting better :) I was starting Steam while watching Notch droped too… After a few Minutes of playing COD:Ghosts, I feld bad cause giving up so early… I was thinking about a second PlanB… Here is what I have so far…

The Idea is:

You are traveling through a wormhole to reach stars and nebulars far far away. In the Wormhole are periodical energy waves at every LightYear you’ll pass. Don’t hit the waves or your journey is over. With every try your traveled distance will be saved. If you have reached a distance  X you will see wich star you’ve reached. There will be more achivements soon… tomorrow maybe… after artwork creation.

Here is a video of the result so far (Video not edited yet):

Jam Baby

jam baby yeah

Hello LudumDah-ray 😉

This LDjam is going to be my 5th ludumdare participation. Love this event so much… All the brainstormings, code creations, raging times, frustrating moments, laughings and then the moment you know you finished a game in such a short time. Great!

So I wish you lots of inspiration this time… what ever the theme is going to be. Hoping that the plans of Mike (running ld as a fulltime job) will be successful too.

So here is my setup so far:

  • GameMakerStudio
  • Photoshop
  • GraphicsGale
  • SFXR
  • Autotracker-c
  • Audacity

Maybe I’m going to stream on twitch some times :) Wish you lots of fun, lots of code, lots of good eats and drinks… maybe we meet each other at the judging. Love YA!

gamemaker killed my entry!

I’m so sorry about to waste time creating a game with gamemaker studio… test html5 exports many times! The after work is done… black screen at the browser… tried to finde the problem… found it: Disable webgl… strange fixing…. but the game was running… but my oneway platforms did not work. The player should jump from below to jump on it… now it dont work… what the hell gamemaker :( I’m out… Someone a hint to fix that?

I don’t have a hint at fixing the problem, but have you tested on other exports, like windows? The HTML5 export is kind of wonky. I’ve worked with it in the past and there are things that somehow work in windows that don’t in HTML5. Worse, there are things that are the other way around too.

Thanks man. I’ve compiled a windows version that works. Thanks for the hint… but it is bad to not provide a browser game… next time I’ll give unity3D a chance!

Yeah, that is one of the peeves most of us GMStudio users have. The HTML5 export is kind of all out on it’s own. It is my understanding that providing a single executable or simple folder download isn’t bad though. It is the installers that people don’t like for whatever reason. You might still get a bit more plays with a browser version but I don’t think it is as bad as it could be.

Yeah I’ve got progress now

Hey there. This is the first LDJAM for me this year…. Tooo much to dooo… till now. So I’ve used the night (since 3am saturday CET) to brainstorm (watching some quill18 on twitch…) so here is my idea for “two button controls” … The name is “Run to a Shelter” and the story is:

War… war never felt so arcade-like before… The city is under attack and you have to leave it. But you have to run through a couple of districts first… but every one of it got a big shelter…. Run Baby… RUN!

Here is a screenshot of the progress till now:

Hope you guys have a nice time at LDJAM and I’m looking forward to posting some progress later the day again!

What a weekend – with a personal success

Hi there. LudumDare Compo is over. It was a really nice theme (two botton controls) and a really funny weekend. I’ve learn much about time management this time and finished the game more than one hour before the countdown stopped.

Here is the final result. It would be nice if you would play’n’rate my game. I will do the same for you and as many other people as I can!

Done and Ready

Hi there coders and players,

I hope all of you had a good weekend coding games with friends or solo. I had lots of fun, planing my game, thinking about to much features, discarding features… hunting bugs, eating good stuff, drinking too much Coffee… I was sleeping only a few hours… was watching quill18 on twitch.tv and finished my dev-session just in time.

Here is my entry for LudumDare#37

I think I‘m in this time

Sine the birth of my daughter I never had the time again to join a gamejam... this time it is my birthday present that I can hide for 2 Days in the Office to create a game. Very cool. Thx to my family 👍

Will use GameMaker2 for the first time... hope it will run like I know it from GM:Studio

Ludum Dare 53

I‘m in, hurrah

This is my first LD-Jam since LD-43. I did not have the time to participate, cause I‘m father of two wonderful girls now, with a house and piles of unfinished projects around the house. Since LD has the Extra category, I‘m able join the jam. I‘m so excited about the a great time. Greetings 🖖459A42BD-D011-494C-9FB2-426BB394AABF.gif

Ludum Dare 57

I'm in again ... back from a 7 years parenting break :)

After nearly seven years — and a very long parenting break — I finally got the official go-ahead from my wife and two daughters to participate in a multi-day solo activity. So here I am, jumping headfirst into Ludum Dare: completely unprepared and burdened with massive future payback duties.

I'm beyond excited and looking forward to a few sleepless, junk food-fueled days surrounded by other crazy (but loveable) minds.

Let the games never end… or something like that.

The Engine Question...

I do know the Godot Engine… just not well enough. So now I’m stuck choosing between the thrill of the unknown or the comfort of good old Pico-8. One hour left. No pressure, right? 😅Screenshot 2025-04-05 021316.png

Progress from 3:00 a.m until now

Started right after the reveal, and now I’ve got something that resembles a game: a little submarine fighting physics and poor design decisions to gather treasure in an underwater cave. There’s soooo much to polish… but sleep is calling. Submerging into bed now—resurfacing soon. 😴⚓Screenshot 2025-04-05 134209.pngScreenshot 2025-04-05 134156.png

Progress after near a day without sleep until now

Main features are DONE! 🎉 Everything that had to be in is now working: - A damage system based on collision speed - An oxygen mechanic: air depletes while diving, but you can refill it at the surface - A speedrun timer for that extra challenge

Next up: finishing the level design, generating sounds, some visual polish—and maybe music or a few bonus features if time allows.

Still need to set up my itch.io page and take some screenshots too.

Really happy with how it’s going so far... Screenshot 2025-04-05 234722.pngespecially after taking a 7-year break from jamming! 😄Screenshot 2025-04-05 235123.png
