I’m in too!

Hi guys !
Like for many people, this Ludum Dare will be my first programming competition, I hope it’ll be fun!

For this time, I’ll use Stencyl, because I think it’s a great software for little games and fast programming.

I’ll use the demo version of FLstudio10Bfxr, and Audacity for sounds/musics, and paint.net/gimp/pencyl for graphics.

—–

Last month I have trained me for this competition by making a little game in 6 hours. My theme was “No Kill”, and I made this : http://www.kongregate.com/games/Stending/kill-no-one
Say me what you think about! ^^

That’ll be hard :/

It’s 6:18AM in France, and I begin my game.

I have many ambitions, and my already tired..

I’m certainly not going to finish my game..

Let’s see, have a good night ! ^^

Don’t give up the fight!!!

A little question

Hi guys.

In the “Rules and guide” section, I saw we must create ALL contents of our games during the competition.
But I saw many people talking about take back old sprites or code for their games.

So my question is : Can I use any uncopyrighted music for my Ludum Dare game ? It is almost complete, but I have no music for the background, and I have no inspiration for making one..

I would like to know this also. I assume yes, mostly because I cant make music XD

Hi Stending,
25. Aug 2013 · 10:04 UTC
So the answer is : NO, you cannot use uncopyrighted music if you want to enter the competition!

I give up.

I had to balance the game and resolve bugs sounds, and I would finish.

But I had a big bug that removed some of my code, and my last back-up dates back to before this part of the code ..
I don’t have time to fix all, I’m really tired (it’s midnight in France and I didn’t sleep during the weekend), and I discovered the game “Flooded Dungeons”  (http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2013/08/25/flooded-dungeons-almost-done/), it has a concept similar to my game, and it is much cleaner and attractive than my game.

So I give up, I’ll try again next time.
Good luck for people who are finishing their games, and good afternoon to those who have already finished!  =)

Super Death Gris Of Death – Presentation

Hi everyone!

I’m really late, I don’t know why I waited so much time before make a post for my JAM game, but here we go!

screen menu

Super Death Grid Of Death is a hard music game. The goal is to dodge every obstacles coming in rythm with the music.
Play it LOUD, preferably with headphone!

http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-31/?action=preview&uid=25361

I made this little game with a musician friend. He did the music, and I did.. everything else.

That was a rude week-end, but I’m pretty happy of the result!

The main problem of the game is the fact that you have to start from the beginning each time you die, and the hard difficulty discourages the player very quickly.
And we didn’t have the time to work the level design enough to fix this. :/
This make most of players stop playing the game before they reach the interesting parts. :/

Here’s a video of the full normal mode, take the time to watch it before rate the game : http://youtu.be/uL8uJ_l1ZDQ

We really need feedbacks, so really, feel free to comment and to tell us what you think!

I’m in..

..But I’m afraid.

No musician this time, and my artist will be here only one day..

That’ll be really hard, knowing that I’m still a beginner.

But anyway, We’re ready!

Have a nice LD everyone, see ya in three days!

My 5 absolute favorite games this LD

Hi everyone! I didn’t have the time to rate as many game as I wanted, but I wanted to make a little list of the 5 games I enjoyed the most!

Here we go:

The Monster Files

RoundoIsMonster

An AMAZING narrative game, with a really cool story. That’s in my opinion, the best thing you can do in the P&C genre in 72h.
The puzzles are simple but quite interesting, the dialogues are cool, and the game is pretty long, with a nice twist in the gameplay!

Really, that’s a crazy work!

Melody Muncher

Melody Muncher Original Soundtrack

A rythm game. A Wonderful rythm game. Everything is perfect, gameplay, visuals, mood, soundtrack (<3) and fits perfectly well.
It has so many great design ideas,  and it has a real (but fair) challenge!

Internship Adventure

A brillant and really cool game!
Everything fits well, and I especially loved the humor and the mood the game manage to install!

DRUMSTER

Another rythm game, a bit more “classic” in the gameplay, but it has something different that makes me relaunch the game from time to time, just to beat my highscore!

Earth Was A Bad Choice

EarthWasABadChoiceSmall

A simple concept executed amazingly well, with a good story, simple narrative, and a solid gameplay!

I have one more day to vote for more games, I hope I’ll find other gems!

Don’t forget to try our little narrative game, The Loved Ones!
And don’t hesitate to leave a comment, we really need it!

The Loved Ones

Thanks for all!

The gameplay which you used in your little project was interesting – a little bit too repetitive, but good enough. The theme was strangely quoted, but why not? I voted for your game, but you don’t vote for mine. It’s not a problem. However, I wish you the best ++

I have Survived! *cue inspirational music with explosions in the background*

Hey everyone!

Social life was hectic this past fortnight, so here I am, FINALLY, and I can get down to business, which is to say start voting and talking about my game!

So without further ado, here’s my game, Rhytmic Thoughts.

It’s a musical game (who would have guessed, huh?) that took a lot of my time, as well as my blood, sweat and tears. Mostly tears, to be honest.

But hey, that’s what creating a game is all about, suffering day and night , which pays itself when people like it.

Which is why I’d love if you would pop down to my page, play my game, and leave some feedback in the comments, thanks in advance, means a lot to me 😀

Little excerpt from the game

So yeah, anyways, here is a video for you to sink your teeth into and see what the game is all about

So, if that got you interested, come pay me a visit, The more the merrier right? 😀

Click me, c’mon, you know you want to

Anyways, that’s me out, ta!

We’re in!

Hi!

Some days ago I just met some people in the train, and it turned out they are talented artists and designers in search of programmers (They are ButtShark, and they work in animation).

And guess what? I’m a programmer!

So we just kept contact on Twitter, and we decided to try to work together for the first time on this Ludum Dare!

We’ll also work with a really talented musician friend, Pierre Vanier.

I lost my laptop recently, so I’ll just use a old computer with
Unity, Microsoft Visual Studio, Gimp, Audacity and Spriter Pro.

I hope everything will be fine!

Good luck to everyone!

The Library, little presentation 2 weeks late!

Hi!
This is my first post this LD, I really don’t know why I didn’t manage to find the motivation to post this time!
So yeah, I was in, for my 8th participation!
So here is my 8th game as well : The Library

The Library Prev

Play it here !
I’m really proud of it, it’s the most “complete” game I ever made!

This time I worked with Pierre Vanier for the music and sound design, and Tori for all the graphics!
It was a marvellous experience, as always.

This jam is the only moments where I manage to be productive, so thank you to the LudumDare and to Mike. :)

The Library- MacOS and Linux version!

Hi!

Second post here, just to let you know that the MacOS and Linux version of our little game are here!

It’s not tested, so let us know if there is a problem. (On the linux version there is a high chance of problem with the notes).

The Library Prev

You can try the game by clicking here

And please comment if you have something to say, we still need feedbacks!

Thank you !

THE LAST HOURS

It is time!
Soon, we’ll get to see how we all did well for this Ludum Dare!

This one was my 8th participation, and actually my favorite one!
I’m really proud of the little game we managed to do with my team.

I gave more than 100 votes, and I was able to try soooo many great creations. It’s ending and I already can’t wait to be in April for the 38th.
I’ll never be enough thanksful to the LudumDare for letting this happen.

If you’re still voting for some games, you can try our entry here !
The Library Prev

You can also watch those little videos showing the 4 levels of the game!

You can obviously vote and do feedback just by watching the video, it still can help us!
Don’t hesitate to comment to. Thank you =)

And again, thank you to the LD, to Mike, and to all of you. :)

Last day!

Hey!

We're really close to the end, and I just realised we didn't post anything this LD!

I hope everyone had a really good time, and that everyone is happy about their work!

Here is what we did with my team, for our 10th LD : Ride Out

Banniereemflou/emresized.png

It's a little musical runner, the week-end didn't go very well and the game isn't really what we wanted, but we are still proud! We really need some feedback, so don't hesitate to try it and comment!

Here's a video of the full game if you don't have time! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OqATMxA9oc

A big thank you to everyone, the LudumDare is still one of the most important event in my life! <3

Flying By Yourself - Our little weird game

Hi!

That's less than 2 days before the end that I realise I didn't post anything this LD!

So here's a fast presentation of our Jam Entry : Flying By Yourself!

MINIATURE.png

It's a simple scoring game with some twists!

Play it here

(There's a video in the description, if you want to see the game without playing it!)

-Spoilers, don't read if you want to discover the game by yourself!-

The idea was to make people believe it's a real scoring game, and then slowly distort it with weird effects. It was supposed to surprise the player and make them question the point of following the games rules...

But some players just didn't like the surprise and hated the game for not being what it looked like... I guess it's the fault of my bad design choices at the beginning... But well, it's a finished game, with its default, and we are proud of it anyway!

If you read this before playing the game, please try it and tell me what you think now that you know the twist, it'll really help us know what work and what doesn't work in our game!

Thank you, enjoy the end of the jam!
